My Dad told very simular story before he died about his Dad being captured by the turks.I never knew my grampa because he committed suicide when my Dad Mitchell Lalas was 12. He was full blooded greek. My name is Cecil Lalas the youngest
53 of five, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I have heard that somehow the Philipines came in to play. My Dad was in the army for 30 years and at one time was stationed there. My Dad was born in Thomasville Georiga in 1913 or 14. Does any of this help any one or does it just raise more questions?
Please reply.

Hi!
It's been awhile since I last replied to the Lalas geneaology search. It has been really nice to see Lalas' here in the U.S. who are from the Philippines as well! I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and my father was raised and born in Pangasinan, Philippines as well...near the Papangan area. Is it a coincidence or are we related in some way?

Hi Despina, I am writing about your message on the message board. I am not originally from Greece. However, my family is originally from the Philippines. I thought that your information about the Lalas' was very interesting. It's always interesting to find another Lalas out there that is not one of my close relatives since Lalas is such a unique name in the United States. I was wondering if you knew how the Philippines in any way was connected to the Greek last name of Lalas. Or if you can give me more information about the Lalas or know where I can find more info. It is very interesting to find out your roots and ancestors...I thought by asking you this would be the beginning of creating a geneology tree. Thanks for your time!
Stephanie

LALAS FAMILY GENEAOLOGY SEARCH

I am searching information on all LALAS families from
originally from Greece. I have plenty of information
share but need much more.

My papou came from Greece in late 1800's to early 1900's,
via as a sto-a-way on a ship from Bienos Aries (sp?) after
being captured by the Turks and escaping while serving in
the Greek military. He left a large family in
Greece (Thessaloniki), but that is not necessarly where
the family originated from. ANY information
would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached directly
at my email address: ellinas@bellsouth.net if that is more
convenient.
Thank you
Despina Lalas
