Latter was the name crossed out on a tax list for Bartley Mill, Frant.

Did the journal of William Ashby, millwright, record the christian names
of the Latter men he had working for him ?

Henry Latter had the Eridge Mill, Parish of Frant, leased from 1812 to 1814,
this mill may have been known as the Windmill at Broadwater Forest, Eridge.

There may have been a watermill just south, called Eridge Mill.

I am trying to trace the ancestors of my Great Great Grandfather Edward Latter who died in about 1827. I believe that he was married to Ann Robinson and they lived in Bromley in Kent. They had 13 or 14 children the first of whom was Rebecca born in 1803/4 who married Henry Hardy Tatum. I am descended from Edward's 12th child Robison Latter. Can anyone help?

I am looking for information about my great grandparents, Henry Latter and Mary Carne, who immigrated from England to Canada ca. 1867. Henry was born on Dec. 13, 1835 (1838?, 1841?) and Mary on Dec. 5, 1841 (1838?, 1839?). I cannot locate birth or marriage records for either of them. Family members think that they came from southern England. They settled in Westmount (Montreal), Quebec and, between 1872 and 1887, had nine children. Has anyone come across this Henry Latter in their searches? I would appreciate any information you might have.

I am trying to find my gg-grandfather and his wife. We know Enoch; possably Wm Enoch Ruff born 1805 to 1810 SC married a Mary and we have Mary Polly Ann/ Mary Ann Polly Lawter/Laughter and have seen Louther/Louter. I found Enoch and Mary in the 1850 USA census for NC and in that census they had their children plu a John Latter age 7; Walter Latter 6 and a Nancy Latter 2. This makes me beleive that Mary's last name was Latter when she and Enoch married. They lived in the Polk District of Rutherford Co., NC in 1850 and they may have lived in Polk Co.,NC after the area was broken up into several counties.
Anyone has these names in your files or family, please contact me. I would so appriciate it and I thank you so much for any help.

Ellen came to live in Canada with my gg granfather Ralph. They appear to have married in England about 1875. They also had 2 children while in England Herbert J, Cloudsley Brereton born 1877 and Cecil G. born 1881. Ralph Fihser was the son of William Fisher grandson to John Fisher who came to the US via New york Date of birth about 1794 All I have is family lore that they may have come from the London area.

We have recently been reseaching the Latter family. Louisa Honeysett and Fred Charles Latter were my husband's grandparents. Louisa was born on 6 December 1880 to George and Eliza (formerly Whatman) in East Farleigh, Kent. Fred Charles Latter was born on 23 December 1883 to William Latter and Catherine Francis (formerly Huggett) at The Street, Wateringbury. I have yet to find the marriage of Fred and Louisa! If this fits in with anyone's research, would be delighted to hear from you.

Looking for info on the Latter family in the Herring Cove area of Nova Scotia, Canada. I found a Thomas Latter in the 1827 Census. There also is some indication of a Henry Latter being born circa 1760 in Halifax. This would place them in Nova Scotia at an earlier date. However I cannot find a source to confirm this. If anyone knows when the Latter family came to the Halifax area and from where...it would be muchly appreciated. Interested in hearing from anyone researching Nova Scotia Latter's.

Thought I'd repost what I have so far. I'm searching for any information on my William Latter. He was born 1853 in England came to Canada sometime before 1881. In 1881 he married Isabella Elizabeth Barrett from Ireland, in Montreal. William had a brother Leonard C. Latter. Hi Pat I have been researching the Latter name for around 2 years. My mother's mother madien name was Latter. There is a William I have traced in my tree...when did your great grandfather emigrate to the USA/Canada?. The name Latter comes up all over the UK but is mainly in the South. My Latter family lived and worked in the Portsmouth Hampshire part of England. I suppose you know what the name Latter means?
