They eventually had seven sons in total James, William, Thomas (who married (London)Doris Hicks 1925), Albert, Frank, Victor and Arthur.
We think James Leary was the son of Michael and Hannah Leary from Cork St Barry on 1881 England Census. We have no leads on Alice as to birth or marraige, she died 1963 at ForestGate, E7, London.

Michael Leary or O'Leary

I am trying to trace my maternal great grandfather Michael born about 1846 in Ireland (if age is correct on marriage certificate). It gives his father as John, a labourer. No documentation to confirm but he spoke of coming from Cork. He appears to have used the name Leary himself but his 2nd wife, my gt grandmother (Catherine Evans) always referred to the family as O'Leary.
Michael married first Elizabeth McFadden in 1867 in St George in the East, Middlesex (London). After her death in 1873 he married Catherine (her half sister according to census records, however, I think they were aunt and niece although only 6 yrs difference in age).
Can anyone help me with this please. All of Michael and Catherine's children appear not to have been registered as I have searched high and low (and I am an experienced genealogist). If anyone can recognize a link with any of their names they were
Catherine (daughter from 1st marriage), John Charles, Robert T (?Timothy) my grandfather, Michael, Martha, Margaret, Thomas, Emily, Mabel, Ellen, Minnie, Ada. The name Thomas may come from Catherine's line as she had a brother with that name.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Carol

It could have been Julia Keohane but I have doubts about that bit of info.

He married Mary Lehane, 1894, at Ballyvogue, Kilnamartyra, and they settled in Ballyvourney and had 10 children. Mary, John, Honora, Michael [my father] Margaret, Jeremiah, Patrick, Julia, Hannah and Daniel. My father came out to Australia in 1924, s siblings went to USA at the same time and the rest stayed in Ireland.

The witnesses at their marriage were John and Mary Twomey.

Emma Leary, Elisha Campbell

I am researching Grandfather Elisha Lewis Campbell and Grandmother Emma Leary (Campbell). Elisha was born in Covington City, Kenton County KY in 1891; died Miami FL in 1972. Emma Leary Campbell was either born in KY or Ireland or her mother was born in Ireland. Emma birthdate: 1891; died 1972, Miami FL.

I have scoured the KY Census for Emma. She may have grown up in another state and moved to KY...There is a Leary family in Kenton or Fleming County at the right time, but no Emma (Emma Julia?) Leary is listed as daughter. The family of Elisha Campbell is well documented by census. Kenton County Birth Records indicate Emma and Elisha's first son, James L. Campbell was born 12/4/1915; their second child, Kathleen Campbell was born in West VA in 1923. In 1920 Elisha, Emma and family are living in Jacksonville FL; 1930, they are living in Miami, FL.

I would deeply appreciate any information about the family of Emma Leary.

Thanks for your help.

barbarafroyland@comcast.net

I am trying to find out about this family who came from a place called Miltown Malbay which is in County Clare Ireland. Michael Francis LEARY came to Australia on the "Telegraph" in 1858. He was aged 20 at the time and travelled alone. According to his Shipping Record, he had an Uncle in Gundagai at that time. His uncle's name was Michael LINEHAN or LINANE or LINNANE (not sure exactly). Michael LEARY's parents were Frank LEARY and Johanna LINEHAN or LINANE or LINNANE. Any help on this family prior to 1858 would be most appreciated. I am willing to exchange information.

Leary / Smith: Rhode Island and Massachusetts

Am in great need of information on LILLIAN FRANCES LEARY, born june 2, 1916 in Rhode Island, and died May 1976 in Rhode Island. Married Roger Andrew Smith of Massachusetts about 1935 in R. I., and was later divorced and then re-married Joseph Prosuch.

Roger was born in Massachusetts (probably....the North Attleboro area) in about 1915, and lived in R. I. for a short time where he met and married Lillian and fathered a daughter, Barbara Jean. After the divorce he returned to the North Attleboro, MA area. At one point, he owned a Nursing home there. Roger later retired to Florida and died there in abt 1985.

Am trying to research Rogers line in order to establish Native American lineage for a child custody battle. If I can get information on Lillian, this may help.

Please answer to pkimbrellp@netscape.net with any information or ideas you may have. Thanks! Pat

Seeking information about Falvey family including the following:

Unknown Falvey m. Ellen Leary, originally from County Kerry Ireland. Not sure if they married in Ireland or US. Ellen was the daughter of Cornelius Leary and Johanna Fleming Leary. Family records indicate that they lived in upstate New York.

Their children:

Anna Falvey

Patrick "Patsy" Falvey who lived in Springfield, MA as an adult and worked as a railroad conductor. He is probably the Patrick Falvey listed in the 1930 census who was married to Winifred and had four children: John W. born abt 1922; Patricia Falvey, born about 1925; Cornelia J. Falvey, b. abt 1927 and Rose Mary Falvey, b. abt 1928.

Neil (first name might be Cornelius). The only info I have on him is that he resided on a farm in upstate New York.

John Falvey who probably died in World War I

Mary Falvey

Any information about this family would be much appreciated!

I am looking for an out of print book "The Leary-Evans, Ohio's People of Color" by Robert Ewell Greene. I have searched all the out of print sites that came up on google with no results. Might someone know of a resource that I could check for this book.

I did find the book in the Oberlin Public Library but it's a non-checkout book and the Cincinnati Library doesn't have it.

Any suggestion, help, ideas, or direction would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Deborah Evans

ggg-granddaughter of Wilson Bruce Evans

Also that she had a sister - possibly Margaret (?) - who emigrated to Australia.

I have a photo, taken in Springfield MA in the late 1920s, of the following people:
Nellie SONIER (nee Helen FLYNN)
Alfred P. There is another daughter listed in the Census - Maura. And two boarders - Thomas FREEMAN and Michael McNAMARA. If anyone is familiar with this family, they may be able to tell me if I'm on the right track.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Mary

I recently reviewed some marriage records from St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hornellsville (Steuben) New York. Here are some references to the surname Leary (I was looking for O'Leary). The records are in Latin.

Aug. 27, 1852 Michael Lynch and Mariam (?) Leary

Dec. 26, 1852 Daniel Crawley (?) and Brigittam Moloney, witnesses Patrick Leary and Catherine Maloney

Oct. 2, 1853 Julia Flemming and ????, witnesses Eugenio Leary and Joanna Flemming

Jan. 11, 1857 Patrick Foley and Marianna Leary, witnesses ??? Larfield (?) and May Bech????

I believe Patrick Leary and Catherine Maloney were later married and the surname became O'Leary.

Hope this helps someone.

Mary Leary, Barraduff, Kerry circa 1900

I am looking for information on my greatgrandmother, Mary Leary (or O'Leary). She married Michael O'Shea in Barraduff, County Kerry, Ireland. They gave birth to my grandmother Mary O'Shea and a number of other children, whose names I don't know. Mary O'Shea was my grandmother. She was born in Barraduff, County Kerry, Ireland on August 25, 1889. Her father, Michael O'Shea, was a farmer in Barraduff. Her mother, Mary Leary was also the daughter of a farmer. We believe that his name was John Leary. Barraduff is a townland between Killarney and Rathmore. Some of my grandmother's records list her as Shea, some as O'Shea. She emigrated in 1911 to Cambridge, Massachusetts. There, she married William Quinn, also from Ireland. They had three children: William, John, and Mary. As a child, I remember that she exchanged letters with family that remained in Ireland. All of those letters and her papers (except for her birth certificate) are gone now. My understanding is that she taught school in Ireland for awhile before emigrating to the U.S. The one family story that might be remembered by another family member is the death of her daughter, Mary Quinn (my aunt) at the age of thirteen. I am interested in both O'Shea and Leary connections in the Barraduff, Rathmore, and Killarney areas of County Kerry. Other names that come up with regard to my grandmother's family are: Minehan, Moynihan, and Reardon. I believe that they were all from the same area of Kerry. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am traveling to Ireland in the Fall. Thanks!

Searching for descendants of Frank Leary who married Emma Jane Harmon Farrington, widow of Edgar Leslie Farrington. My grandmother Clara Farrington Moore had two half-brothers, Leonard Leverne Leary, b. 2 July 1903, Estherville, Emmet, Iowa, d. 2 November 1907, Ririe, Bonneville, Idaho; and Leroy Irvin, b. 13 April 1907, (near?) Glenwood, Mills or Pottawattamie Co., Iowa.

We think Leroy married Evelyn ca. 1944 possibly in Pennsylvania. He wasn't interested in family and didn't keep in touch. Possibly he moved to California.

The Harmon lineage has been traced and goes way back. We'd be interested in filling in the Leary descendants.
Marvin Moore
P.O.
My great-uncle James(Jim) left Bracaragh, Caherdaniel Co.Kerry about 1899/1900. He joined the Met.(London) in 1901 and retired in 1926. He died in 1958. He married an Ulster born lady (I think) and at least one of his sons also joined the Police Force. That's all I know and would dearly love to find some of his descendents. His younger brother, John was my grandfather who settled in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, he married my grandmother, Mary Murphy - whose parents came from Derrynane (Caherdaniel) - in June 1913.
If anyone who reads this can help please do. By the way I'm not Mike, I'm Eileen (nee) O'Leary. Thanks for listening!

Salutations!!! I am interested in finding ALL family members that I maybe related to regardless of their race. If you know of any LEARY's that had relations or is rumored to had relations with slaves or owned slaves please contact me. I don't how correct this is but I am told that our family line started with a Colonel Leary who owned a plantation on the east coast (possibly GA) had relations with a slave cook named Mariah.

I am interested in finding other Black Leary's and finding out how their family lines were started. Looking forward to meeting everybody!!!!! :)
