Relatives of Morris, Ray Esther, & Tillie Kaplansky LEVIN

I am searching for any information on Morris Levin if you are a direct decendent I also have information to share. Morris is my GGrandfather. As listed on my grandfathers death certificate he and Tillie Kaplansky were my grandfathers parents. Morris was married to Ray Esther and she died in 1897. They had two children together. Then he married Tillie Kaplansky in 1898 and they had a couple children also. One died at one month old Abraham. From what my father has told me, the other siblings were Charles, Florance, Jeanette and Harry my grandfather. I can not locate any of them on birth, death records. I have copies of their location and births from the library but no names of the children are given. The relatives are in Illinois. He was born in Telsam, Russia. My grandfathers last name is listed Levine on my Dad's birth certificate. Yet my father's name is now LaVine and so is my grandmother's grave stone. I have a hunch there was possibly another last name in Russia. Any connections, your response is appreciated!

Levin -- Chicago, Michigan, Sweden, Poland

I am looking for information on Eli (or Ely) Levin/Levine born 1837 in Russian Poland and his first wife Hannah (or Anna) Beatrice Levin (née Kahn) who may have lived in Sweden before emigrating to the USA, where they lived first in Michigan and then in Chicago. They had the following children, Harry, Julius, Rubie (short for Reuben, I think) Louis and Jenny. Family history says that they changed their name when they came to the USA, perhaps from Levinson, and the name is spelled Levine on some family death certificates.

Robin

Hi Hank, I noticed your post and just had to respond. My Ggf was Morris L. Levin as listed on my Gfathers death certificate. Is your Jacob the brother to Morris? I have ended with my Gf Harry L. Levine, who died at 26 in Chicago and is buried there. Morris had a brother named Meyer or Mayer listed as merchants in WI. Was married twice to a Ray Esther & Tillie Kaplansky. They all were born in Telsam? Russia. Do you see any connection here? I know the Levins are spread all over the map, but a great deal of them were in NY and Chicago area. Must visit the grave of my GF in il. as I am curious if he is listed under Levine or Levin. And the prominent auburn hair as my grandfather had really caught my eye. Thanks, Donna

Harry Levin

Trying to trace descendants of my great uncle Harry (?Harris ?Herschel) Levin who emigrated to South Africa in the early part of 20th century. He was the son of Jacob Levin of ?Lithuania and had a sister married name Dubrowna who went to France and a brother, Rev Solomon Noah Levin who came to the UK. Harry was in Wales with his brother in 1902 and must have left for SA some time after that. He married and had at least two children - Rachel who married Samuel and had a son Bernard (no last name unfortunately) and Abram, known as Sunny. Also photos of two other women who may have been his daughters, called Lily and Edna. Can anyone offer any info? Would be very grateful.

I am looking for either family or close friends of Greg Levin. I believe his mother's name was Angie. She was a very devoted Jewish lady. Greg also had a sister named Gretchen who has two daughters, and a little brother who had a Jewish name that began with an "A", I can't recall his actual name since it has been 10 years since I've had contact with Greg himself. Greg lived in Long Beach CA. as well as Las Vegas NV. I have had alot of help in locating him but using his SS # the finding says he died Aug. 5th of 1995, with no actual state/address at that time. I guess what I'm really looking for is SOLD proof that he really is gone. I would greatly appreciate any help and I can be contacted at coolbreeze@austin.rr.com
Thank you so much for your time.

Mary B.

Law lookup

I recentlly did some math and realized that when my ggrandmother came to America from Russia in 1912 she was 14 and was married soon after, at least she had her first child in 1915. I was wondering if the laws were the same. Did she have to have paretal permission to marryy so early? How easy was it to lie about your age? The only listing I can find for my ggrandfather was of the age of 23 when he was 15. His name was Herman Levin. Could this be why I can't find anything on them?? Would Russia have exiled a 15 year old? As you can tell I need a lot of help. Any suggestions would be WONDERFULL!! Thanks

I'm looking for information on my great-grandfather, Louis Charles Levin. I know he had at least two brothers, Frank Levine and Henry Levin. Frank Levine was married to Edythe ?. Henry and Louis Levin lived in Mooresville, Indiana. They are somehow related to Frederick Levin. Louis Levin was supposedly born in New Harmony, Indiana. Any information would be appreciated.

Joseph Levin from Poland/Russia

I'm interested in information about my great grandfather Joseph Levin and family. He wa a tailor that came to the USA abt. 1895 via New York. The family moved across the country and settled in San Francisco where he died in 1916. Family lore states he was from Wilna, Poland (I believe this is currently Vilnius Lithuania). His wife Yetta Chemnick came with him I believe she may have been born in a place named Izbutki, Russ-Poland. Joseph's death certificate states his father was Juda Levin and his mother was Tobia Polesky (both from Russia) any one know the same family or can point me in the right direction for tracking the family in Russia, Poland or Lithuania. My understanding is that I likely need the villiage name to locate them in Poland etc... Any help appreciated

My grandfather's mother in Russia (probably around Grodna) was Hannah (Levin) Isakowitz, born about 1846. Her parents were Beril and Briene. Her other children were Ida, Rose, Briene and Beril. All immigrated to the USA and settled in the Boston area. Any matches?
