Logan Family Records - Genealogy Magazine Found

While looking through an old book, I came across a Logan Family Records Genealogy magazine published in 1917. It goes back to the 1700's and contains many births, marriages, etc. it also mentions John Logan and his tie to Mingo in the preface. I also found a sheet which contained many handwritten notes on the Logan family. I have attached photos.

Some names mentioned include: David Logan, married to Jane McKinley. Son Benjamin Logan, married to Anne Montgomery. 1700s - Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Anyhow, I am not a desendant of the Logan family but want to make sure this gets into the right hands. I'm happy to send a scanned copy to people who are interested or send the originals to the first person to respond.

Thanks
Susan

William Logan / Pigg marriage in Tennessee

I'm looking for any information on a William Logan who married a woman who's surname was Pigg. I have a will and probate lawsuit for a Stephen Pigg, who died in Williamson County, Tennessee. In the will, Stephen Pigg makes bequests to his children, and two sons-in-law. One of the sons-in-law he mentions specifically is William Logan.

Stephen Pigg's children, all born between the years 1791 and 1809 were: Sarah (married to James Skelly), Dicey, (married to James Davis), Elizabeth (married to William Segrest), James, Henderson, Elijah, and Stephen. I have no record of a daughter marrying a William Logan.

The only William Logan I can find in the area at this time is the William Mitchell Logan, born 1801/1802 who moved to Texas and fought for their independence. However, records indicate he was not married.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thomas Benjamin Hertzel

Henry Logan m. Sarah Scogings 1791 Philadelphis

Hi! I found an IGI record at FamilySearch for the following:

Henry Logan & Sarah Scogings, married 2/16/1791, Philadelphia PA.

A Henry Logan shows up in East Marlborough, Chester Co in 1810 (indexed as Henery) & 1820, and a Sarah Logan (age 80-90) in 1840. A young Sarah Shoggan is in Pennsbury Twp, Chester Co, in 1790. Other possible children of Henry & Sarah in Chester are Henry, John & Silas. I'm hoping this Henry 7 Sarah Logan are the parents of my Jane S Logan, born about 9/1792 PA, and married John H Burdge, Mifflin Co, in 1813.

Henry & Sarah may be my great x4 grandparents...I was wondering if anyone recognized either of these people?

Thanx,
Mary L Stewart
Martin was married to Catherine Haggerty (b. 1824 in Ireland). Martin died on March 13, 1876 in Manchester (Lakehurst) New Jersey. Catherine died near Fisher, MN on 23 October 1902. The children were Thomas, John, Sarah, Ann, Bridget, Mary, and Catherine "Kate." Newspaper accounts and family lore state that Martin was born in County Galway as was John and Thomas. Ann was born in Belfast. Catherine "Kate" Logan married a Kelly and returned with her children to Ireland. I'm seeking contact with all family members in the United States and Ireland.

I don't know who is parents were and would very much like to figure that out. Bernard married Hannah Jane Bottoms Middleton in 1919 and they had six children together. Hannha Jane had five children from her first marriage (she was widowed). Hannah Jane died in child birth with her youngest child in 1928.

I have found something that fits but the dates are off by ten years so I am doubting if this is the family I am looking for. From the 1901 cencus there is a family where some of the children were born in Bedlington (where my mom was born) and some were born in Felling. It lists...
Thos Logan age 51 and Mary Logan age 50 as the parents of
Henry age 29
Thos age 26
Peter age 19
Annie age 15
*Barney age 14 (could it be for Bernard???)
Jas age 10
William age 8
Mary age 4

The interesting things are that the father, Thos was born in Bedlington as well and the two oldest children and like I said my mom was born there so there is a possiblity that it is family....furthermore, my family had several men sho were coalminers and at the time of this census Thos, Henry, Thos, and Peter were all coalminers.

If anyone has any information that could prove or discredit this information I would appreciate it. It is fustrating not being able to trace this line back any further than my great grandfather, Bernard Logan.

Thank you!
Jenn

John Quincy Adams Logan

I would be interested in any kind of records having to do with my great-great grandfather John Quincy Adams LOGAN who homesteaded with his wife Martha WELCH Logan in or near Parks, Nebraska in or about 1886. He had four children -- John R., Frank, Mary, and Evelyn. He may have died in Parks or Haigler -- he was buried in the Benkelman Cemetery (I know not what town). I would especially like to trace J.Q.A.L's father's name and information. J.Q.A.L. migrated to Parks from Pittsburg PA by way of Iowa. An obituary, birth, marriage, land, etc. records with names and dates would be helpful. Many Thanks!
"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Friday, November 30, 1894

A CHICKEN THIEF'S QUEER LUCK.

Mike LOGAN, rushed madly into Police Surgeon LUTZ's office
at daylight yesterday morning with a wound in the calf of his left
leg and two chickens in each hand. He explained that he had
stolen the fowls, and that he had been bitten by a dog while
making his escape. Dr. LUTZ attended the man's injuries, which
were rather severe. The man was unable to pay the surgeon's
fee, but left the chickens as a guarantee that he would soon
return with the money. He never cam back, and now Dr. LUTZ
wants to know what to do with the birds. LOGAN refused to state
where he had committed the theft.

======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo8

I'm trying to find information on my great-grandfather's brother, Herbert "Bert" Logan, who was born in Uhrichsville, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, in 1872. He spent many years in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving on the Coast Guard cutter USS Algonquin. I know he lived in Connecticut and Puerto Rico, and died sometime in the 1930s. I'm trying to find a date of death for him.

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Hi, I'm looking for anyone with knowledge of Logans from Lanarkshire, Scotland...I actually had some work done professionally but stupidly lost it during a move. Here's my lineage, if it helps anyone identify their family in my tree:

Father: James Keith Logan, b 1959 in Lanark
Grandfather: John Logan, b. 1934
GGrandfather: Thomas Logan, b. 1905 in Lanark
2GGrandfather: George Logan, b. 1878
3GGrandfather: Thomas Logan, b. 1856 in Whitburn
4G Grandfather: George Logan, b. 1823 in Lasswade
5G Grandfather: Thomas Logan, b 1790 in Inveresk

My father (JK Logan)'s mother was a Pretswell, so if that rings a bell for anyone, I'd really love to hear back...I'm missing a LOT on my father's side since we are not in contact and I'd love to start finding out who my cousins, etc are.

Hi.

I am looking for help finding my Irish roots in County Galway. My gg grandmother, Margaret Lohan (Loghan or Logan)was born around 1837 in County Galway. I have records showing her mother was Catherine Morgan and her father as either Patrick (from her marriage record) or Michael (on her death record). Margaret Logan immigrated to the U.S. around 1854 (according to a 1900 census record). She married Patrick Fitzpatrick in 1858 and settled in Lexington, MA. I was told that there may have been a connection to the Logan's from Ballygar, Galway, specifically the Logan military family (General Lawrence J. and his son Edward Lawrence Logan). Boston's Logan airport is named after Edward Lawrence Logan. Can anybody help? Thanks!

Can anyone help me with my research as I seem to have hit a very hard wall.

I was handed a hand written tree by my m-in-l when I first started my research and it starts with a Mr and Mrs Logan in Drymen, Stirlingshire. They had a child (or possibly it was the Duke of Montrose's if you listen to family legend!) called Marion (or various spellings on that theme) Marion was b 1820 in Drymen. Marion married a Thomas Burns b unknown who died in Halifax, NS on a troopship. Marion and Thomas had 2 children Elizabeth b 1840 and Thomas b 1842. We are linked through Thomas Burns junior who eventually ended up in London as a Soldier musician at Sandhurst.

Any info would be most gratefully received.

Thanks
Sara Jones
