Martha Ann Lower and John Williams, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio

There is a marriage record in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, for Martha A. Lower to John Williams. I cannot find a clue to this couple. An LDS submission says Martha Ann was born ca 1835 and John was born ca 1831 so apparently someone identified them at one time but that's all the record says. I don't know if this is who I am looking for but would like to check them out. The John Williams I'm looking for was in the household of John and Eliza Hall on the 1850 Tuscarawas Co. census and I don't know what happened to him afterwards so wanted to find John and Martha to see if he might be the same John. Looking for a John and/or Martha Williams is like a needle in a haystack. The Lower researchers of Tuscarawas County (that I've been able to find) do not mention Martha Ann. Does anyone know anything about John and Martha Ann (Lower) Williams?

I am seeking information on Elizabeth Lower (b. 1842) from Pennsylvania. She married Philip Fichter (b. 1837, Germany), who was a coal miner. They had two children in Pennsylvania, Rosa and Elizabeth (1870 census) and they settled in Massillon, Stark County, Ohio, where they completed their family, including Genevieve (Jenny), my great grandmother (1875-1945).

Their other children included Peter, Ann, Mary, Charles, ElWorth and John.

I would like to know any information available on this Elizabeth Lower. I have only the above information so far. I do not know what town in Pennsylvania she is from.

Looking for family connections in London between Lower, Rock and Roder families - Rocks arrived in London from Hessen 1860s. and E Lower was a witness at marriage 1912 between Edith Maud Rock and James Herbert Shaw.

In particular looking for an Ernest Lower who was at various times, I think, a publican and taxi driver in London. Also, his wife had connections with the fur trade.

Robert Maxwell born approx 1807 married to Catherine Lower born approx 1814. They lived in Tyrone, PA for some time.

Thier children:

1. Mary Margaret Maxwell born 1832 married to Ezra Brisbin. Lived in Tyrone, PA, then Wisconsin, then Red Wing, Minnesota and back to Tyrone.

2. Martin Maxwell born 1833

3. George Maxwell born 1836.
I know that one of these brothers was killed in the Civil War.

4. Ann Maxwell born 1842 married to Mr. ? Lamb

5. Jane Maxwell born 1844

6. Katherine Maxwell born 1848 married to James Epright.
They lived in Tyrone and then moved to Philadelphia.

I am the grand-daughter of Frank E. Lower. What I do know is: he married my grandmother Lois L. Fielder. His mother was Josephine Wilson and his father was Frank E. Lower, Sir. I am still searching for any and all information on the LOWER or LOUER family who resided in Chittenango (Town of Sullivan, Madison County) NY in the early 1800's. I have just about been everywhere, and even though I found her tombstone in an abandoned cemetery that no one had her listed for, I still can't find out who her parents or siblings were.
This is the information I have on her:
Lavinia M. Louer b. 4 June 1816
married 3 June 1841 to Adrian V. Boardman in Chittenango NY
died 23 July 1853 in Chittenango, NY (Madison County)
Her children were:
Charles A. V. Boardman b. 1845
George LaGrange Boardman b. 1847
Miles Austin Boardman b. 1850
and James Ezra Boardman b. April 1853 d. August 1853
(child died 1 month after Lavinia)
Her husband had been previously married to Betsey SHAVER and they had one daughter, Elizabeth Laura Boardman who was born 1840. I haven't been able to find out anything on Betsey Shaver, either. My gr gr gr grandmother, Lavinia and Betsey (Shaver) Boardman, (wives # 1 and # 2), are buried side by side and their names are inscribed on the same tombstone! I have never seen this before and thought that they may have been related to each other prior to marrying Adrian!?!? After my gr gr gr grandmother died, Adrian married a 3rd time and had 3 more children (2 survived to grow up and marry), but their first daughter died between the ages of 1 and 3 years. Adrian is buried with his 3rd wife, Jane HARRISON, who for many years I thought was my 3 X Grandmother!
If you have the smallest bit of information on the Lower/Louer Family or the Shaver's or even the Harrison's, I would Love to hear from you.

Lavinia Louer's Tombstone Found

Well, it pays to be persistent! Even when the Town or Village tells you, "she's not buried there, she's not on the list". In an abandoned cemetery in Chittenango, NY/ Town of Sullivan / Madison County in Harrington Cemetery, we found it. I am so happy to find that it was not one of the missing or completely destroyed stones. It was simply broken off at the base, slid down the hill a llittle way, and was a little bit covered up with brush and dirt!! Thanks to my 12 year old grandson, who is much more capable climbing that I am, we located it. There
is one strange thing about this tombstone, though. My gr gr gr grandmother, Lavinia Louer Boardman's name is listed on the left hand side of the stone, which is about 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall and about 3 feet wide, and Adrian Boardman's first wife, Betsey Shaver Boardman is listed on the right hand side of the stone. It appears that they were buried side by side. I have not been able to discover who Lavinia's parents were, but now I am wondering if Betsey Shaver could have been a relative of Lavinia's. When Lavinia married Adrian Boardman, he was a widower with a one year old daughter, the child he had with Betsey Shaver. Could Betsey's and Lavinia's mothers be sisters? etc etc? Betsey died in 1840 and Lavinia died in 1853.
If anyone has a clue, I would truly love to hear from you. Please contact me with the littlest bit of info, sometimes that's all it takes.

NEW LONDON-Gwen Lower, 82, of Country Road died Monday at New
London Hospital. She was born in Enfield, the daughter of Isaac and Lucy
(Tatro) Reney. She lived in Enfield most of her life before moving to New
London 12 years ago. She worked as a secretary for LaSalette Shrine for
more than 10 years. Lower was former active member of St. Helena's Parish
in Enfield and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New
London, where she was a member of the Women's Society. Survivors include
a son, the Very Rev. Richard Lower of New London; two daughters, Carolyn
Collins of Enfield and Susan Gagne of Bow; a sister, Geraldine Hazelton of
Claremont; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces,
nephews and cousins. Her husband, Richard Lower, died in 1989; and a son,
Timothy Lower, died in 1991. Calling hours will not be held. A Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima
Church, Main Street, New London. The Very Rev, Richard Lower will
officiate. Burial will be this spring in Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima, 75 Main
St., New London 03257. Chadwick Funeral Services in New London is in
charge of the arrangements.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Lower.

Need someone to check 1840 NYS Census

I can't get anybody to help me at the Town or County level and I Need to know whose household Lavinia Lower was living in in 1840.

She married in 1841 and died in 1853, and was married during those years. I received more info on her today from my Great Aunt (in her 90's) and the correspondence she has gathered over the past 50 years, has Lavinia shown with several different spellings: Lavinia, Lovena, Levina, Levinia, Lucrecia, and Lucinda! I'm sure they are all referring to the same person, but if I had a definite family to connect her to , it would be great.

We have never known who her parents were or who her siblings were. I have just found out today that she is buried in Chittenango, NY in the "old" cemetery, but the historians have no record of it! We would really be so grateful to find out who her parents, and family were.

When Levina Lower married Adrian Boardman in Chittenango, NY in 1841, he had a 1 month old baby girl. Elizabeth, we called her, but I have recently found out that her name might have been Laura Elizabeth Boardman. She married Emmett Nichols and moved to Michigan and I would like to contact any of her ancestors to see if they know the whereabouts of Levina Lower Boardman's grave. She is my gr gr gr grandmother. Laura Elizabeth's real mother was Betsey Shaver Boardman who died shortly after childbirth. Mrs. Nichols had a half brother, Miles Austin Boardman who also moved to Michigan. I have seen his obituary and one for his daughter, Mrs. John A Lake (Amy Belle Boardman Lake). I am hoping that any of the ancestors of this family will contact me, so I can put it to rest as to the whereabouts of "their" grandmother, too. There is no mention of her in Miles' obituary. Hello to all Lowers where ever you are.There are a lot of Lower families in Australia. Most are in the city of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Matthew and Samuel Lower seems to have come to Aust around 1850. They lived in Alfriston and Seaford in Sussex England.
The story is that they were descended from Richard ( the famous doctor)and Sir William Lower( the playright). We think the family is Cornish and WAS extremely well connected in the 17th century( see Ancestry.com and type in William Lower from Cornwall)However, our immediate ancestors were not wealthy. Mark Antony Lower was a well known scholar in the 19th century.
They were not German.
If anyione has any information, it would be interesting.

Spring burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Herson Funeral Home, 110 South Geneva St. Contributions may be made to Gideons International or to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Cayuga Street, Ithaca 14850.

I have Joseph Lower b. 27 Jun 1908 Lanark, Carroll Co., IL in my genealogy and thanks to a slip of the finger on the computer, he got loose from his family. I can't figure out where to put him. Does anyone have any information on his parents? I believe he is connected with the Brantner family. He died November 1983.

I have several 8x10 black and white photos taken around 1944-45 on Catalina Island, California, of a wedding of R. LOWER (groom) and R. THURKILL or THURHILL (bride). He was an enlisted man in the US Maritime Service and my father was the Chaplain who performed the ceremony. There are also three 3x5 photos of the weddiing party.

I will send these photos to relatives who might like to have them.

Rev. Ford Lower, residence Battle Creek, MI. c. 1930's, had a son Dale Lower'

Glenn Goff had daughter Lucy Jane Goff who married Dale Lower in Coldwater, Branch Co., MI. about 1934. She is a descendant of Joseph Purdy.
Any information about this LOWER and Goff family in needed.
