Rufus Maiden

Looking for information on Rufus Maiden. My Great Grand parents are Rufus Maiden and Louisa "Lou" Roy. In 1914, they both lived in the Washington, DC area. At some point, my grand mother moved back to Virginia. The 1930 census records show that my grand mother "Lou" lived in Washington, Richmond County, now known as Warsaw, VA.

I'm thinking he is probably white and have no clue on where he might have moved to, if he did.

Maiden Cemetery in Washington Co., VA

Any one know how to get to the Maiden family cemetary in Washington Co Va? I have a letter written by J. Maiden Owens (daughter of Jamie Crenshaw Maiden) in 1980 to Mr. Reddick asking for donations for upkeep, and it says the cemetary is on route 4 in Abington. Is it difficult to find? I will be visiting Virgina next month and would like to look for it.

Mr. Royal Edward “Eddie” Maiden III, 76, passed away Dec. 29, 2007, at his Apple Valley home, where he was a resident 13 years of his 55 years in California.
Eddie was born in Dresden, Tenn. He was Director of Security of Hilton Hawaiian Village for 15 years and he served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1965.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Taeko Kato Maiden of Apple Valley; son, Mark and his wife, Tina, of Apple Valley; son, Edward Dean Maiden of Apple Valley; sisters, India M. Hoogs of Tucson, Ariz., and Melanie Thomason and her husband, Bill, of Tucson, Ariz.; and granddaughter, TinaMarie Lynn Maiden of Riverside.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Ave., Riverside, Staging Area No. 1. Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary is handling arrangements.

It's possible. James Maiden was born Aug. 2, 1881 in West Virginia. His father was John Maidens, born May 1851. I do not have John's wife's name. John's father was Daniel, born in 1826 and his mother's name was Elizabeth also born in 1826. She died in 1860. I haven't come across any Joseph's. but there are many James, Johns and Thomases.

They appear to have settled in the part of Virginia that became West Virginia, moving to Ohio in the early 1900's. There were three brothers who farmed and were mill workers. John's brothers moved to another state but came back and are buried in West Virginia.

If I find anything more concrete I will post it here.

I have a photograph of Maiden family kin at Maidens Creek Virginia that was sent to my grandmother in 1961 from her father, James Clyde Smith. My grandmother has no other information on this photo. I am thinking that some of the people may be the parents or grandparents of James Smith. My grandmother also kept ties with her aunt Una Mae and great aunt Mabel Maiden Redick, perhaps this photo could be of their kin as well?

Is there anyone that might be able to help me identify individuals, or at least determine an approximate age for this photo? There are 19 people in this photo, including several elderly people, and some men are wearing bow ties, while others have modern style ties. I am hoping someone else has old Maiden family photos that this could be compared to, I could e-mail or regular mail a copy to anyone that could help.

Carl Edward Maiden b. 6/5/1905 Saltville, Va. father C.H. Maiden, mother Minnie Maiden, both were listed as dead on his marriage lic. 6/18/1930. Some in the family think C.H. Maiden father was G.H. Maiden.
On the obit. for Carl Maiden 5/9/1966 it has a brother Harvey Maiden, Saltville, Va.and one sister Lula Maiden Ousborn.

Nikki- I'm responding to an old post, so I'm hoping this reaches you... I've been researching the Maidens for years now. My grandfather's mother was a Maiden, and he made sure to introduce me to all of his kin and took me to all the the cemeteries and whatnot...
In your post, you mention you grandfather's name John Henry Maiden. I have recorded John H., son of Morgan Utz Maiden and Mary Elizabeth Campell, b. abt 1872. Could they be the same person?

Do you know I knew that but forgot until you mentioned it, sometimes my brain don't think. I got a bit of luck concerning Lucy Williams & Janett, a couple from Canada found on the 1891 census that Lucy came from London, English spoken & Janett born in Liverpool & William was not there even though it states that Lucy is married, well between the ages that was given & the fact that William was not there does indicate that these are the right ones, William was a mariner so he was proberly out on the ship/boat somewhere. At the time of the census they were living in Llandanwg, I must find out where that is in North Wales, I don't think it is in the South as I am from there, but I will look. Thanks.

They were living at Thorne St. Blackfordby, Leicester.

These details are very simular to the ones you gave me, but I would feel happier if I could find a census with him & his wife on there together, that way it would state where he was born & I would know if your census or this one might be him. Do you know if they done any more census after the 1901, as to me it seams to have stopped. Thank you Carole.

They could very well be in differnt places in 1901 but in 1907 I think they were living in the same place, 44, Church Street, Aberbargoed. Janett's husband to be, Robert Henry Maiden was living with them at the time of his marriage & what I can gather from my father, that Robert was living with his in-laws at that time. I've tried looking for them on the 1901 census & I can't make out why they are not there, any of them, my Dad always said that, that part of his family were gypies, I can't even find Janett's husband any where.

She was born abt 1836 in North Carolina. She married Jonathan Henry Maiden or Maden on 16 Dec 1865 in North Carolina, presumably Guildord Co. At least one child's name of them is Jonathan Addison Maden, born 30 Nov 1872 in Guilford Co. NC.

Hello,

I have a Nancy MAIDEN born 1831 in Summerseat, Lancashire. Her parents were George MAIDEN & Alice.

She also had a brother named Joseph MAIDEN.

Nancy married Richard MOSCROP on 3 March 1851 in Bury, Lancashire England. They had at least 7 children.

Nancy died 27 March 1882 in Bury, Lancashire.
She was buried in St. Pauls Cemetery, Bury, Lancashire.

George MAIDEN had died before 1831.
Alice had remarried 2 December 1831 to a Thos. (Thomas) DAWSON.

I would love to hear from anyone with any connection to these names.

I recently found out that my gr-gr grandparents were Jerry Mosley and Mancie Maiden. The 1900 census has them born in TN, but on their son Samuel's death certificate, they are listed by Sam's wife as being from Kentucky. They also had a son named Jim or James. I would greatly appreciate any direction given. Jerry and Mancie settled in Knox Co., KY for a while. Thank you in advance.

Ernest b.1900 - d.1992 married Flossie Dell Blansett in 1927, they had six children: Albert Lee, Bennett Clark, Alma Jean, Mary E., Robert Walsh, and Jo Ann.
Bennett b.1934 - d.1992 was married to Dorothy J. Cullom in 1954, they had three children: Bradford Clark who died at birth, Tracey Clark b.1958, and Steven Maiden b. 1960.

Does anyone have genealogy info on Frances Maiden born in 1922? (Maiden was her maiden name also.) She has roots in southern IL (Carmi) and IN definitely. Last names of her marriages were Graves, Davenport and Wilkinson. I am looking for names of her siblings and parents. I have also tried the spelling of Mayden with no results. Thank you.

Bessie D. Maiden

SALTVILLE-Mrs. Bessie DeBord Maiden, 90, died at Wellmont Hospital, Jan. 15, 2002. She was the widow of Hubert E. Maiden. Mrs. Maiden was a member of the Madam Russell United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. In the past few years, she enjoyed her friends at Grand Court in Bristol.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Warren Elliott, Saltville, June and David Krupcale, Abingdon, Patsy and Bobby Ford, Dawson, W.Va., and Eleanor and Leo Mahoney, Mayo, Md.; one son and daughter-in-law, H. Wayne (Mick) and Carla Maiden, Fredericksburg, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Mildred Maiden and Alice DeBord, Saltville and Bertie DeBord, Bristol, Tenn.; eight grandsons, Warren E. (Skip) Elliott, Jr., David W. Elliott, Joel (Kim) Shipley, Anthony Shipley, Kerry Guest, Roddy Guest, and Erek and Jason Maiden; two granddaughters, Debbie Turk and Pamela Rutherford; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in the Elizabeth Cemetery with Rev. Sharon Wiley officiating. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madam Russell United Methodist Church.
D.R. Henderson Funeral Home of Saltville is serving the family.

I am looking for any info about my GG Grandmother Emily Maiden.

She was supposedly born in Belleville, Ontario and supposedly married in Belleville, Ontario. Her father was supposedly Irish and her mother was supposedly French-Canadian.

Definite info now: she was born in 1844 and married Bernard MAGUIRE, of Ballyconnell, County Cavan, Ireland, who was in the Royal Artillery. They had at least one son in England in 1863 and several other children were born in Quebec City. She died in 1926 in Quebec City.

I read the Catholic Church records for Belleville for the possible time period and couldn't find any MAIDENS at all.

However, in St. James Cemetery in Belleville, I found the grave of:

As well, in a marriage index for Hastings County, I found the marriage of Elizabeth MAIDEN, age 17, daughter of the above Joseph and Mary Ann MAIDEN to Peter LaBELLE, age 28, in the United Church of England and Ireland in Belleville, Ontario on 11 May 1867.

This Elizabeth is the right age to be a sister to my Emily, and naturally, I'm wondering if there is a connection between my Emily Maiden and the above Maiden family.

I am looking for information on Beatrice Maiden who lived in Richmond Indiana. She was married and probably divorced from Avery Maiden Jr. of Richmond Indiana. Beatrice was born about March 29, 1919. She may have worked at the Wescott Hotel in Richmond. Avery and Beatrice had at least two sons; Richard (b. 1940) and James (b. 1939). At some time, she may have moved to Pershing Indiana and remarried....maybe more children. Her maiden name is Leonard and her parents Ada and Walter Leonard lived in the Richmond Indiana area too._

I am searching for information on Robert Maidens. The information I have indicates that Robert immigrated to the US in the 1800's with a older sister when he was 12. The path he took is through New York to Virginia and then to Missouri. Robert Married Frances Pulliam in Missouri and they had seven kids. Their names were Alex, Al, Sam, William, Harreit, Lizzie and Bell. Alex, my grandfather was born in Feb. 13th of 1882. I do not have any information on the others and would appreciate any help I can get on this.
