Looking for the identities of the parents of Rhoda Markham(b. circa 1790 MA, possibly CT d. 1851 Geneseo, Livingston County, NY). Rhoda married Rodman Clark circa 1821 in Geneseo. Probably was a descendant of Deacon Daniel Markham(b. 1641 England) who came to MA in 1665 and married Elizabeth Whitmore in 1669.

I have not seen any proof, but most of what I've seen says Deacon Dan was the son of Daniel who was the son of Sir Robert of Nottinghamshire, England

Thanks Jim, I went to the New York Public Library and looked up a few books on the Markham family and found only a Daniel, son of Sir Robert who removed to Ireland and had five children non of whom were named Daniel. I too have seen on the internet numerous references to Deacon Daniel Markham being the son of Daniel son of Sir Robert - but where this notion got started I have yet to nail down. Do you know of any other people I could contact regarding this?

I don't know of any people for you to contact, but the Family History Library has numerous book on the Markhams. There are several on Daniel and at least one on Sir Robert.

Mmark Goodmansen of Salt Lake City has made this his particular study. He has tracked Deacon Daniel Markham to Earls Colne in Essex, England. I listened to him do a talk on his study of Deacon Daniel and he was very thorough in his presentation.
I have read the book set "Markham Memorials" and find that it is mostly a history of the "markham Title" connected to "the Markham's of Cotham" going from one person to another and not a blood lineage, which is what I am interested in studyig. varlo@aol.com is an address that will help you reach Mark Goodmansen. He has a book out on his study of Deacon Daniel and is soon to come out with a book on the OTHER MARKHAMS who have come to the USA. It is worth an email to him to see what he has to say about the subject. He is a descendant of James Markham, son of Deacon Daniel. My husband is a descendant of Daniel Markham, son of Deacon Daniel Markham.
