Hi Rick,
I can't find any reference to Frederick in the 1851 census?
The Mormons website put his birth date as 17th August 1831 in St Michaels, Norwich if it's the same one? Another Frederick Markham born around that time emigrated to Canada?
Source Information:
Census Place Springfield, Kings, New Brunswick
Could have been born in Scotland though?
In the 1861 census Frederick I think was an apprentice fitter in Brentwood, Essex, lodging with George & Mary Turner.
I've traced my family tree back to 1108 in Markham, Notts - It's only taken me about 10 years!!! My lot moved from Markham to Sedgebrook in Southern Lincolnshire and then up to Brigg in North Lincolnshire. My Great Grandfather then moved to Hull in East Yorkshire and my Grandfather was born in Hull and died at Ypres in the 1st World War.
I would suspect that yours possibly moved to Sedgebrook with the original migrants and then moved across to Norwich?
I was brought up in Liverpool and moved to London in 1970 and now live about half a mile from Hampton Court Palace in Surrey.
I can't believe you read the Reverend David Markham's Family History in 1 night!!!! There's also two other books by Sir Clement Markham called "The Markham Memorials Part 1 & 2" I don't know if they are available on the web?
Sir Ken Markham in South Africa is the leading light regarding the Markham Family history - I'm sure you'll have heard of him? He was a great inspiration to me 10 years ago in putting mine together. Also Victor Markham at Rootsweb
His family more or less mirrored mine.
Colin
