I am trying to find any info on Jesse (Jessie) Markham (Marcrum, Marcum) born 1799 and died 1882/3. He married Sarah Eli (Ely) in 1817. She died in 1896. They were from Lee Co., VA and ran a hotel/tavern somewhere there. They moved to Pulaski Co., KY sometime before 1856. They had 11 kids: Harvey Eli, Samuel Patton, Margaret Ellen, George, David Albert, James, Harriet Ann, Ruth, Bishop Asbury, Caleb Litten, Barbara Alice.

I am related thru Bishop Asbury Marcum.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. All the family records were destroyed in a fire in 1938 and we've been trying to piece it all back together since then. Thanks.

Ellen / Nellie Markham

She was my grandmother's mother and a complete brickwall. From a letter my grandmother wrote her name was Ellen sometimes Helen (but mostly Ellen) Markham and she came from Birmingham England...on the only record of her a 1900 Census her name is Nellie C.(married name) Tingley born 1867 in England. She died in 1907/8 on Colton St. Farmington Hartford Co. Connecticut hit by lighting closing a window. Gram was young about 8 or 9 years old and really doesn't remember the year her mother died just that her youngest brother, (there was 8 of them) was a baby. She thinks that her mother might have come over with a sister... and that she has always told them that she had aunts or relatives that were ladies in waiting to the queen. All them of my grandmother and her sisters tell the this story. She married Edward Alexander Tingley around 1887 not sure if in Ct or Maine as he came from Maine to Ct He also spent time in Canada in N.S. with Tingley Family members. So she could have enter in Canada, or the US. If anyone Can help me many thanks as I am wondering if this woman has any records before the 1900 census.
Candace Godard Johnson
shewhowonders2000@yahoo.com
If you have any information on F. M. Scarlett or Martha E. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give. I have been stuck on this family for over 20 years and can't get anywhere.

MARKHAMS OF ARKANSAS, TEXAS

(Diamond Gladys McIntosh Markham was the daughter of James and Carrie McIntosh who lived in Cleburne Co, Arkansas. Diamond had a sister named Maude Opal, a brother named Lloyda, one named Birtie and a sister named Anna Lucille.)
I am trying to find descendants of the family of Diamond Gladys McIntosh who married Olen Markham. Diamond b abt 1900 in Arkansas Co, Ark. She and Olen had 4 children, Dallass b abt 1918, Ruby b abt 1923, and twins Mildred and Milford b abt 1925. I believe Milford Markham ended up in Apache Co, Arizona, think Dallass may have lived in Van Zandt Co, Texas. Not sure what happened to Ruby and Mildred. Would love to find a descendant of any of these Markham siblings. I am researching the McINtosh line and have info I can share with Markham descendants if they want it. If you are related or have info please let me know.
Blessings, Chris in Ohio (Lookin4McIntosh)

I am need of anyone that can assist me in finding the parents of Darius Markham. This Darius was born 11/24/1810 in what I believe was Tyringham, Berkshire, Massachusetts and died 10/23/1888 in Dayton, Cattaraugus, New York.

He married Mary Ann Merrill abt 1835. I have a lot of information on their children and the Merrill line, but have been unable to find anything as to who his father and mother were.

I have a few assumptions since there was a great migration of Markhams to this area. Thus, if anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Frank Markham - Ill to Oregon

My great grandfather Frank Markham was born in Maryville, Ill to Henry & Belle Markham. He also had an older brother named Henry. I've found the family on the 1860 census with a few errors (they had the boys in the wrong order and the parents birth states wrong). The next reference I can find to Frank is the 1910 Oregon census when he was married and had a family. His wife was Laura Francis Fulford. My father was raised mostly by his grandparents and remembers going to Idaho to visit Granny Belle. I also think he had a sister but don't know her name. I can't find what happened to his father or brother but there was a Samuel Markham that was from Michigan like his father and they may have been brothers. Can anybody help me find the rest of the family?

Herbert Markham aka Herbert Marshall (b.1890) - Winston Salem

Would appreciate any information about Herbert Marshall of Winston Salem who was in reality Herbert Markham of Goole England.

On 7th October 1912, in St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada, Herbert deserted the Royal Navy and went on the run.
Herbert made his way as Herbert Marshall to Winston Salem, Massachusetts where he married and had at least one son.

Herbert returned to England after the Second World War and went to the Police with his nephew, Kenneth, a policeman, to give himself up. He was told to go away as many years had passed since his crime and the book was closed; he returned to America.

Family tradition until 2006 was that Herbert had been in the Merchant Navy and had left his ship because of the impending war. The recent discovery of Herbert's Royal Navy record and the date when he deserted suggests he may have done so because of a woman and when he returned to Britain for a visit he reported to the Police he had left a Merchant ship.

I am currently researching my fathers family from Rathkeale, Limerick and would appreciate any input regarding this name or any associated names to help build a fuller picture. Associated names of spouses from this area of Ireland are Madigan, Keily, Markham and Sullivan. Associated areas with a Scanlan presence, we believe, is Adargh, Coolcappagh Stonehall. We are currently back to 1837 and stuck at present. We have quite a few gaps with family that went to America. If you think you are related or could just help please drop me a line.

I have collected alot of references and sources.

I look forward to hearing from fellow researchers.
