I am seeking any scrap of information about my James Maxwell b. 1786 Scotland. He possibly lived in Ireland too. His son, Joseph Patrick Maxwell (b. 1812 or 1815) in Shancarnan, Meath, mostly likely. Joseph married Judith Shaffrey on September 24, 1834 in the Parish of Moynalty. Judith was likely from Dunshaughlin. The church record about their marriage is solidly sourced as are the baptisms of their children in that location. From there Joseph, Judith, and family immigrated to the Irish Settlement in Newport, New York, ultimately living in Schyuler, Herkimer County, NY. While I have good Roman Catholic Church records for Joseph and Judith, I have nothing more about James Maxwell. Any thoughts on this would be welcome. I know that Maxwell is a common name as it James. Help!
