Milburn - Selheim and Home Hill

Hi,
I decided to release this Data, possibly to help someone else, who may be seeing this Family, but also to "lift" the Profile of the particular Family Milburn, in Queensland. Naturally also to see if we ca get back to the oldest Ancestors else where.

The Milburn's are probably better know to the many, perhaps on the south side of the Burdekin River in Home Hill. The Milburn's were "ALWAYS", one of those very, Forever, Beloved Families. With not a bad one amongst the entire Family !

Selheim, for those who don't know was a small Township way back when, that was nestled on the Western Side of the Banks of the Burdekin River. You turned in to the right when traveling to Charters Towers. It was also an Australian Army Bivouac and Training Area.

HERE IS WHAT I HAVE COLLECTED TOGETHER ON THE MILBURN FAMILY ....

SIBLINGS...

1894/C6001 Milburn	James William Margaret O'Connor

1892/C7360 Milburn	William William Margaret O'Connors

1907/C7281 Milburn	Theresa William Margaret Maria Theresa O'Connor

1891/C6645 Milburn	Honora Mary	William Margaret Connors

1904/C6854 Milburn	Sydney William Margaret O'Connor

1902/C6730 Milburn	Thomas Francis	William Margaret O'Connors

1900/C7027 Milburn	Timothy William Margaret O'Connor

1889/C6122 Milburn	Edward William Margaret O'Connors

1888/C4789 Milburn	Robert William Margaret Maria O'Connor

1899/C6151 Milburn	Johannah	William Margaret O'Connor

1895/C6966 Milburn	John David	William Margaret O'Connor

1897/C6533 Milburn	Margaret	William Margaret O'Connor

There are a collection of My Beloved Milburn Family Buried in the Home Hill General Grave Yard. I already have pics of their Headstones.

We will get to "where" the direct Couper Link is in a little while.

Here's is one connection of at least two...

Here's but one of our Milburn Connections involving a Marriage

MARRIAGE OF..........

1926/C2018 Milburn Theresa	Hollingsworth	Arthur Denton Frederick

NOTE : It is already known and Documented that the Milburn Family began with it's Seat in >>>"Northumberland" County<<< England from early times !

Please see attachments to my Reply Posts, the very direct Couper Connection I'll try to put in my last reply, ancestry receiving server permitting.

This attachment to this topic post feature Our Own Known, William and Margaret Milburn in Sellheim North Queensland, Australia. Our Margaret's Full Name was Margaret Maria Theresa Milburn NEE O'Connor. They are listed in the Australian Electoral Roll for Sellheim from 1903 right through to 1913.

There Beloved Son better known to the many Affectionately Called "Tim" [Timothy] is the Direct Connection to Our Couper Family in Australia. Our other known Close Connects are a small tangle up but known are Warren and Gibson, with Gibson connecting us together yet again. We'll leave all that for another day and other Topic Posts.

It would be nice think we could find every single connection and all prior Ancestors back to the Milburn beginnings. But even one, "New Ancestor", prior Unknown is a Total Blessing.

If you have any information on the Prior Ancestors of my North Queensland Milburn Family, Please Feel Free to Post a Reply, to this Topic Post. Many Thanks in Advance.

regard to you all,
pop john

I am familar with those names. Rodney Milburn was my grandfather. He was married to Mary Louise Taylor in the 1930's. They then had seven children: Clary (Galveston, TX), Wilfred (Galveston, TX), Lillie (Houston,TX), Mary Ann (Houston, TX), Alice (Galveston, TX), Jimmy (San Francisco, CA), and my father, the youngest, Rodney (deceased- Baton Rouge, LA). I'm not that familiar with too many Milburns outside of the immediate third and fourth generations. My father's family did grow up on Teche and my grandmother is the only one that still lives in Opelousas. My father is actually buried in the family plot there (on Teche). Don't know if that helps much...

You can email me at maisiedaisy11@hotmail.co.uk rather than through ancestry.com if you will. Looking forward to hearing from you great aunt ?

Love Su Moorhouse x

I just saw this posting now. Is anyone still working on the Milburn family?

Thomas J. Milburn is my ggg grandfather. I found 2 Thomases in the 1850 census. One was 16 years old and was a son of Francis Milburn. The other was 22 years old and was living with Shadrick and Polly Innman. This one was married to Elizabeth.

I think the older one is the right one because the age is correct but we've never heard of him being married to Elizabeth. His wife was Sarah in later censuses and according to our family sources.

Please help?

Thanks for the post, Cindy.

I was that researcher and it was my pleasure to know Sis for the last 10 years of her life. I'm glad to know her papers got to the UT library from Johnson City. She did most of the hard research on the Devine and Milburn families in the 1970's and 1980's. We owe her alot of thanks. I have a picture of her somewhere I'll try to find and post. She was a WWII veterin and fly planes back and forth from the assembly sites to the bases inside the US (she was an original WASP. She was also one of the first to get into the DAR in our family.

Gene Milburn
gene@ntw.bz

Several years ago a researcher referred to the work of researcher Milburn "Sis" Devine and her reference to Robert Milburn being on one of the British Hell ships and he was not able to find any references to these ships. This site
http://www.usmm.org/revdead.html#anchor267821
lists American Prisoners of the Revolution and it does list a Robert Milburn.
In addition, the Devine Family papers (including some of the research of Sis Devine are in the Library of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. You have to admit that it's a great name! If you google Sis Devine, you can find an online inventory and description of the collection.

Hi Merry Anne,
I have not worked on my McCarty's for quite awhile, but this is what I have.

Yes, I found David's will in Springfield, Washington Co. Ky. It was wrote May 5, 1826 and recorded Jan. 22, 1827, pg. 218, Will Book D.

I know David & Mary 'Polly' McCarty Milburn had 4 children, Elizabeth [Betsy], Jonothan, William and David.

Jonothan and David were indentured out to James C. Riley 07/23/1832 to learn the trade of tanner. I do not know what happened to William. Elizabeth was indentured to Nelson Daughtery, to learn trade of spinner, 07/23/1832. The children being indentured out was 5-6 years after Davids death.

'Polly' Milburn married Shadrack Inman May 18, 1831. James McCarty, Mary Polly's brother was Bondsman for this marriage.

There are 2 other marriages for "a" Shadrack Inman, 01/03/1835 to Margaret Milbourn and 05/17/1848 to Angeline Sinkhorn. Is it the same Shadrack that married Mary Polly McCarty Milburn? I have no idea...

I too was told that Mary McCarty Milburn went to Mo., but nobody has supplied documentation. I have not checked the census to see if she was there.

B.T.W., Nancy McCarty Milburn [Mother of John Wesley Milburn] was the daughter of Joseph & Miriah Mercer McCarty, making her Mary Polly McCarty Milburn's neice.

Who is your friend trying to join D.A.R on? Several of us McCarty was trying to get enough info on Justin McCarty [Mary Polly McCarty Milburns Father] to apply for D.A.R., but we can't produce enough valid documentation to submit application on him. Seems I have as many loose-ends on Mary McCarty Milburn as you! My e-mail addy is latewing@bellsouth.net I'll share what I do have.

Did you find the will i8n Washington Co, KY? I have information that his wife, Mary McCarty Milburn went to Missouri at some point and died in Morgan Co, MO 13 jan 1894. This is from some family research that I'm working on for a woman joining the DAR. David and Mary's son David apparently was in MO at some point as he has a son, John Wesley Milburn, born in 1858 in MO. It appears that David and Mary's son Jonathan went to MO also. John Wesley Milburn returned to KY. His mother was Nancy J E. McCarty Milburn. She died in 1924 in KY and I have her death certificate. I'm trying to locate both Mary McCarty Milburn and her son David on census records prior to 1880. Any help or information to share would be wonderful. I'll share what I know.
Esther Jane Milburn

I am looking for any information on any relatives of my Grandmother Esther Jane Milburn who was born in Pickering, North Yorkshire, England in 1892. I don't have any info on her family at all, so anything on her parents, siblings, grandparents would be great. I know she had relations in Co. Durham and Sunderland and talked alot about Auntie Alice, Uncle Fred, Uncle Charlie who I presume were her brothers and sister. She married Ernest Bessant in 1918 and had children, Edna, Enid, Jesse, Ernest, John (my Dad)and Dorothy. Thanks.

Joseph Milburn (1816-1905) England>Canada>Iowa

I have some holes (okay, a LOT of holes) in my research for Joseph Milburn (b 1816 England). I have found him in the 1880, 1900 and 1905(Iowa) census records. These records indicate he arrived in the US in 1869. What I cannot find is the 1870 Census and the 1885(Iowa) Census, and most importantly I can't find his burial place! I have found his son Joseph Sylvester Milburn and his grandson, Joseph Enzely Milburn (my grandfather) in Elgin Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa.
Any ideas? Thank you!

Charles Bunch shot and killed A. J. Milburn at Milburn, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 22 December 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

MILBURN TRAGEDY

A. J. Milburn Shot And Killed by Charles Bunch At Milburn

At Milburn, twelve miles west of Wapanucka, last Friday night during a row Charles Bunch, a livery man of Milburn, shot and fatally wounded A. J. Milburn. The weapon used was a 44-caliber pistol and the ball took effect in the stomach, passing through the liver.

It is alleged that the trouble between the two men, which caused the tragedy, grew out of some differences between Charles Renfrow, proprietor of a hotel, and an Indian by the name of Pitthland. However, there are two stories about the shooting, one that Milburn struck Bunch before the latter pulled his gun and shot him; and another says that Milburn did not strike him at all.

Dr. Bacon Saunders of Ft. Worth and Dr. Walter Hardy of Ardmore were called at once to attend the wounded man.

Bunch was immediately arrested and held under $2,000 bond to await the result of Milburn’s injuries. Later on, when Milburn died Monday morning, Bunch was again arrested, and taken to Ardmore where he was placed in jail.

A J. Milburn, the dead man, was founder of the town bearing his name, and possessed considerable enterprise and energy.
