I need experienced help finding my grandfather, great grandfather and great grandmother

I am new at researching, but I have been searching message boards and using ancestry.com. My greatgrandfather was Richard McDonald Miller, born in 1886 in Dixon (Pulaski county) Missouri. He married Jessie May (unknown maiden name) and they were already married by the 1910 census. I have them in the 1910 and 1920 census, plus his WW II draft registration card, and nothing else-no names of parents, siblings, etc.

Richard and Jessie had my grandfather Jack R Miller about 1919. Jack married my grandmother Hilda Coffman in 1941 in Reno NV, my father was born in California in 1944. Jack divorced my grandmother about 1950 and no one ever heard from him again. My father has always had a hole in him about this, and I would like to be able to solve the story while my dad is still alive. Any help greatly appreciated.

Richard died in 1961 and Jessie died in 1951 and are buried in Sand Springs OK.

Miller in Laurens SC

I have recently came into possession of transcripts of several deeds and wills of Millers from SC. The family connections include Neill, Teague, Cason, Johnson, Smith, Mathis and more. If you are researching one of these in Laurens then reply and I will see if anything matches.
I am researching the various John Millers, I have wills and deeds that show a John Miller (d. 2 Feb 1814) married to a Sarah, a John Miller (b. abt 1786) married to Mary Neill, and a John Miller (b. abt 1817) married first to Margaret Johnson then to a Matilda. The names of many children and a couple of servants and neighbors are mentioned. If you have any information on these or need more information then post a reply to this and we will see if we can help each other out.
Joe

Seeking Millers/Milnors/Milners with ancestors who shared the following given names: Amos, Nicholas, Isaac, Thomas,
Bethia for possible free genetic testing.

Genetic testing results from Family Tree DNA of Houston, Texas has revealed there was a shared common ancestor betweeen several Milner/Miller/ and maybe Milnor lines in America. The lines of Edward Milner, born 1745, Thomas Milner, died 1827 in Harrison County, Kentucky and Amos Miller/Milner from PA/VA to KY to Indiana all shared a common ancestor 6-7 or more generations ago. Some of the Milners/Milnors may have married or became Quaker, others seem to have been Non Conformist Baptists etc. Kentucky Tax lists for Bracken, Fayette and Harrison Counties revealed many of the Milners were originally recorded as Millers..

JOHN MILLER, b. 1880 Ontario Co., NY, son of Maxson&Carrie(nee Ward)

John MILLER (born 1880) was the son of Maxson MILLER (1852-1894) and Carrie E. WARD (1857-1931). He was the grandson of Moses WARD, Jr. (1834-1874) and Mary ENSIGN (1837-1924). All lived in the area of the hamlet of Cheshire in the Town of Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY.

John appears in the 1880 census as a 2 month old baby named "O. John" so possibly one of his given names was Oliver or Oswald.

The only other information I have about John is that his mother may have remarried later in life to a Frank INSSE (c1870-1940).

I would very much like to know what became of John MILLER after the tragic death of his father in 1894.

Sharon
Welland, Ontario, Canada

MILLER, William md. Mary CLACK, daughter of Spencer CLACK (1746-1832), in 1785 somewhere in VA. Mary later died in MeigsCo, TN, date unknown. The Clacks and related families (Millers, too??) left VA in 1789 and moved to SevierCo, TN. Now we have another William MILLER who also md. (1837 in RheaCo, TN) Mary CLACK, but this Mary is the granddaughter of Spencer CLACK. This William and Mary moved west, state unknown. Do we have William MILLER, the father, and William MILLER, the son or nephew, both marrying into the CLACK family?
Descendants of David & Mary Miller of Coles County, Illinois? Or their sons, Marion and Sylvester?

My great great grandparents were David Miller--born April 1803 in Kentucky, died 8 Oct 1896 in Illinois--and Mary Smith Miller--born Nov 1821 in Kentucky, died 1 Aug 1890 in Illinois. Their children were: Suzannah Miller Zane Morrison, my great grandmother, 1852-1917; son Marion, 1854-1929; Amanda, and Sylvester. David and Mary are both buried in Coles County, Illinois. Marion is buried beside them, as is his son, William. Suzannah is buried in the same cemetery, but on the opposite side, as Susan Morrison. Her eldest son, Manford Miller, is buried beside her.

If there are any descendants of Marion, Amanda, or Sylvester reading this, or of my great-uncle Manford, I'd like to hear from you. All of the Miller children were born in Monroe County, Indiana.

(This poem was written by Sally for her daughter Anna) [Shared by Joyce Elaine Lilly, her grandaughter]

Santa Claus into the window peep,
to see if they all are in bed.
But there he comes down the chimney,
scratching his wise old head.

Up on the roof top he gazes.
Steams in a steady brow,
Thinking how a fellow so stout
could ever hope to get down.

But he never fails the children.
But what ever shall I do?
For I greatly fear the windows
are closed against me, too.

But down the chimney he really comes.
Each stocking he fills with care,
and the children know next morning
Santa Claus had been there.

Millers from Louisiana and Mississippi

My grandmother,Laura Elizabeth Miller, was born 10 Sept 1934 to George Arthur Miller(b.18 Oct 1906 in Mandeville,LA) and Laura Ivy Miller(maiden name)(b.14 Oct 1914 in Mississippi). So I obviously have Miller from both sides and from 2 different states but having a really hard time finding anything on either family. There is talk of some Indian on the Mississippi side-I think Chickasaw-just hear say. My great grandmother,Laura Ivy,had a twin sister,Lillie, who died when she was about 7 in Louisiana after the family moved. She also had 4 other siblings, Lucille,Jewell,Horace, and Forest. Their parents were Charles H. Miller b.1876 in Mississippi and Laura Elizabeth ? b.1881 in Mississippi. According to a census I believe both Charles and Laura's parents were both from Mississippi as well. George Arthur Miller was born in Mandeville as well as both his parents. His father was Joseph Miller b. Jan 1868 in Mandeville and d.26 Mar 1951 and mother was Lucy A. Rogers b.4 Jan 1871 in Mandeville and d.08 Oct 1918. They were married May 1891 in Mandeville, LA. It seems as though there were 2 couples living in Mandeville at the same time with the same names,Joseph and Lucy, but they have different birthdays. Anyone have any info??

(newspaper clipping)

Mrs. Rachel Miller Dead.

From the Chicago, (O.) Times, we clip the following obituary of a former Turon lady.

Rachel Conner was born in Union county Ohio and was married to P. O. Miller, October 6th, 1895.

Her death occurred December 29th, 1911 after a short sickness. On account of the family records burned, her exact age is unknown.

She was a faithful member of the Episcopal church, but there being no church of this denomination in Chicago Junction, she made her church home with the Methodist Episcopal church. She was kind hearted, faithful and true, and had many friends who together with her husband, mourn her death.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist episcopal church New Year's day at 9:30 o'clock in the morning. Rev. Akers preached a beautiful and impressive sermon. Burial was made in the New Haven cemetery.

Turon Weekly Press
Turon, Reno County, Kansas
Thursday, January 18, 1912
page – front *** column – 2
Bert/Bertis/or Albert Miller

I am looking information on a Bert Miller from Richland County Ohio. He is my gg-grandfather. From the information I have been able to obtain I have his birthdate as March of 1870. He was married to a Sarah Hamilton, b June 1871. They had two children Hazel Miller, and Vance Miller b in 1893. From what I have been told Bert and Sarah died shortly after Vance was born, the 1910 Census show Vance living with John Miller (Bert's Brother). I am not able to find any information on the death of either Bert or Sarah.

I have a list of children of William Miller, (Burt's Father)that was wrote out some time ago by one of my relatives that lists Berts name as "Bertis Miller", I have also tried searching for Albert Miller but have had no luck. If you have any information please let me know.

Thanks,

-Aaron

Joan Miller - Possibly California

Looking for sister. She was once married to California Highway Patrolman and living in Goleta, California. Last name at that time was Adams, about 1968. Last known to have been seen in Oxnard about ten years ago, last name Miller. Has two daughters that I have heard of, one adopted. She was born about the 1940's in Syracuse, New York to Lowanta Deland and 'unknown' Carpenter, her father. Our sister was Caleen, now passed away. Caleen was born in 1940 and I was born in 1950. Joan was between us. Please send any information you may have even if it doesn't seem like much to you. Joan is my half-sister and I idolized her as a small child. It broke my heart when I didn't see her again. It would mean alot to hear from or about her. Merry Christmas to all.

I have a picture of an Edward MILLER (with 1st wife and son written on back). It was taken in North Warren, Pennsylvania sometime in the late 1920s. I do not know where Edward was born or the names of his wife and son.

Edward served in the Navy during WWI and became acquainted with my grandfather, Ivan McGLAUFLIN of Maine. At the time of this photo, Ivan was also living in North Warren. Edward made several visits to Maine after the McGLAUFLIN family returned there in 1929.

Willing to give the photo to any relative.

Does anyone have this lady in their family tree and if so can you help me with Mr. Kelly's first name? Did she and Harold Mathuss have any children? What were the names of her parents? Any additional information about her would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Margaret

obit for Edwin Willis Miller, born 1851 West Virginia, died 1928 Belton, MO

Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, March 22, 1928, page 7:
Willis Miller
Edwin Willis Miller, son of Benjamin Franklin and Jane Still Miller, was born near Wheeling, West Virginia, April 29th, 1851 and died at his home in Belton, Missouri, March 12, 1928 at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 12 days. When he was eight years of age he moved with his parents to Rock Island County, Illinois. As a boy he worked hard for his invalid father and mother on the farm. On December 25th, 1872 he was united in marriage with Mary Louisa Crabs near Rock Island, Ill. who preceded him in death, February 26, 1924. To this union seven children were born, four of whom survive, Mrs. Olive Jane Clarke of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; Abraham Franklin Miller, Ernest Willis Miller, and Louis Earl Miller of Belton, Mo.; also, he is survived by twelve grandchildren, one great-grandson, a brother, E.M. Miller of Aledo, Ill.; a sister Mrs. Maggie Meador of Minneapolis, Kansas and many more distant relatives who sincerely mourn his loss.
Soon after his marriage, Mr. Miller engaged in the mercantile business at Buffalo Prairie, Ill., but sold it in 1884 and began a business of the same kind at Ada, Kansas, and continued it for ten years. these were trying times for the early settlers in Kansas and Mr. Miller's extension of credit to these pioneers did much to help them keep their farms and support their families in this new country.
In 1913 he moved to Belton and resided there until his death. During the last two years of his illness his son, Frank and his family ministered to his needs.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church at Belton, at 2:30 p.m., March 14, by Rev. Arthur Coleman of Kansas City, assisted by Rev. H. Russell, and interment was made in the Belton cemetery.

As best I can tell, he is listed in the 1940 census in Perry, Centre, PA with father William Miller, born in PA about 1890. So far, I've only been able to search online but I am finding nothing that narrows down the information. In 1950, George is listed with, what I am assuming, is an older brother William and sister Elizabeth. In 1960 with Charles and Elizabeth Boyles. Next year Ohio. Then to West Virginia where he dies in 1908. Children of George W and Margaret J were Charles Nelson, James Henry, Samuel Jefferson, George W, Eliza J, Lucy F, William Franklin (my gggrandfather) and Alvan W.
Any information on any of this family line would be greatly appreciated. I'll be happy to share what little I have. Thank You!!

Dana
