Looking for info on Martin Monson who married Ellen Larson and his brother Peter Monson and his wife Sarah Betsey Larson. The women are sisters, Sarah born in Norway, Ellen in Zumbrotta, and Martin and Peter in Sweden. Monson twp was named after Peter and Nels who was also from Sweden. Martin had 5 children, Peter had 13 and Nels had 10 children all born in Wheaton from 1876-1900.
Been searching for info on this family for 28 yrs.

I also have a Martin and Pete Monson/Monsen who are brothers. Pete and Martin were the children of Benedikte Katrine Eilertsen and Martin Monson/Monsen who were married about 1857. What years were your Martin and Peter born?

Peter A. Monson was born in Sweden Mar 20, 1851/2 and Martin also born in Sweden on Aug 29, 1859/60 these dates are found on various records. There is also a Nels Monson born in 1850/51 who may be related who was the sheriff from Traverse County and Monson twp was named for Peter and him,
Thanks for your message.

I am just starting my Monson/Monsen research so I do not know what year Martin and Pete were born. Do you know who the mother of your Martin and Peter were?

I don't have any other info on Martin and Peter. Were yours in Traverse CO., MN and married to sisters Sarah Betsey and Ellen Dorotea Larson/Halvorsen/Okkelberg who were from Norway? Martin and Ellen had 10 children and Peter and Sarah had 13.

I'm sorry I know nothing about the brothers descendants. I have only information on their ancestors. Back in the 1970s a relative made family charts of two couples. It followed each of the children and their children etc. It only gave names, no dates, places, or information on spouses other than their names. Benedicte Katrine Eilertsen married Martin Monsen, (I have verified that the wife was definately born 1836 and husband may have been also) and had Pete and Martin. The tree just stops there (contact with the branch seems to have been lost). These branches of the family seemed to have immigrated to WI, MI, MN, ND, and IL so I am exploring all these areas as most new family arrivials seemed to have started out staying with other family when first arriving in the US. I saw your post wanted to reply as your two brother names matched mine. Do you know any of the names of the brother's children? (Often in Norse families that could be a clue)

I just went back and checked my records, I have two children listed for Martin Monson/Monsen and his unknown wife; they are Henry Monson/Monsen and Bergit Monson/Monsen. Do you know the names of any of your Martin's children?
