RIVERSIDE,
Iowa - Robert Louis Knottnerus, 80, of
Washington, passed away, Monday, June 2, 2008, at
Mercy Hospital in
Iowa City.
Funeral
Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Reverend Sue
Meade of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverside Public Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to
Iowa City Hospice or the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside in memory of Robert.
Mr. Knottnerus was born January 24, 1928, in
Washington County, the son of
Rudolph and Hilda Prymek Knottnerus. On December 1, 1948, he married Hilda
Moore at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He was a farmer and also worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside, the
Moose Lodge of Muscatine and the Carpenters Union. He enjoyed watching car races. He was the proud owner of a century farm.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Hilda Knottnerus of Washington; his three children, Kathy
Ossman and husband, Jim, of
Washington, Sharon
Schiefen and husband, Dan, of
Cedar Rapids, and Eric Knottnerus and wife,
Kendra, of Ainsworth; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother Don Knottnerus of
Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George and a son, Stephen.
