Hello Ms. Sarah ,

I noticed you mentioned a samuel moore as possible son ot james moore. Do you have any information on this samuel moore. According to DNA results from my family line... we are grouped with John Moore(wife sally goodman and james's brother) , But my line is stuck on samuel moore. I had been going on a theory that John might have had a brother that had a son named samuel (since i saw the DNA grouping).... and when I saw this messege it really peaked my interest.

Any info you might have on james moore ,wife, and kids would be appreciated. jimmoore31@aol.com

For reference the samuel moore I am refering too is Samuel Columbus Moore b. 1803 married to melita oliveaux.

Hi...

Sorry, Been awhile since I been to this site. Yes my Grandpa (Everett) had a sister named Lucy. I know a lot about the family because my Aunt Sara Moore did the research a long time ago. George T Moore mother was pregnant before they where married. Let me know if you would like to share research. Tilman marriage records, and war records where gathered by my Aunt.
Some things are very confusing with the Moore lines.

Thanks,

Creeds Airfield - graves and 1944 shooting

Just began research and I'm look for assistance and information. There is believed to be 2 graves on the Creeds Airfield property. The graves are covered by a cement slab and there are no markers available. The Virginia Beach Police Department is using Creeds as a training center. A proper stone is planned for placement at the site if the names of the persons buried there can be identified. Also, the commander's log for the base reported a shooting that took place at the guardhouse on September 18, 1944. The log indicated that Andrew Johnson (a black male from Munden) attacked W.L. Whitehurst and F.E. Waterfield in the guardhouse at the main entrance to the station. Whitehurst received several knife wounds but they were not fatal. Whitehurst and J.W. James shot and killed Andrew Johnson. I may have located the Whitehurst and James (not Waterfield) that were involved and plan to follow up to see if they are still alive. I can not find any source of information about the shooting except for the commander's log from the base. Looking to find out more information about the shooting and more information about all that were involved. Finally, attempting to located who sold their property to the government to create Creeds Airfield. Yes, I know this is a big request so thank you in advance for any information.

I think we have a match!
I have a copy of my family tree (I am in college, the original is at home but I can try and get it over Thanksgiving) I have lost the first page, but the second page begins with Leander Walter Moore (b. 19 oct 1831, d 20 jan 1896) m in 1857 to Drucilla E. Quinn (b. 23 jun 1833, d 28 april 1900)
Children:
Alice J. Moore
JAMES LEROY MOORE (underlined and capitalized)
Mary Elizabeth Moore
Annie L. Moore
Lillian N. Moore

James Leroy Moore (b 2 jan 1862 in anderson co. tx, died and buried in avery cemetery red river co. TX) M. Margaret Annie McConville on July 14 1881.

Please let me know if we are related, my grandfather complied a huge family tree in the 1970's and I would like to add to it as both of my parternal grandparents died when I was very very young so I don't know much about that side other than the family tree that was left to me!!!

Thank you, Allie Moore

Barbara unless you have a W.E. Moore in your line that was born around 1848 and missing, it would be a waste of your time. The first time we have found our W.E. was when he inlisted in the 123rd Indiana Infantry, he was listed as a transit from Ohio. Thanks for your response. TM

There are a great many Moore's that were originally, and are still, located in upstate NY. I actually have an uncle named William E. Moore but he was born in 1910.

If you are interested, I will send you more about my family research that I have been able to take back to about 1850 in NY.
