We are looking for any information on Lydia Morgan, b. 30 Mar 1797 in Vermont. We are guessing that she was born in Rutland County. She married Gideon Beebe (b. 12 May 1795) and they lived in New York, Illinois and Iowa.

Did Lydia have a sister named Lovina who married a Charles Obriham? They have a daughter named Lydia Lovina Obriham who was born 16 Apr 1833 in Rutland County, VT.

We are also looking for any information on a Sophia (maiden name unknown) Morgan who was born in VT in approx 1788. She also went to Illinois and then to Iowa. In 1850 she was a widow.

Any family information, parents, siblings etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Donna Eberling and Fred Kautman

Help with William Morgan a DNA match with Thomas Morgan b. 1785, in Greene Co., TN

I have been at this brick wall for over 8 years. DNA was done and showed a 37 match to Thomas Morgan of Greene Co., TN born 1785. But we can find no William Morgan in his genealogy. The closest that I have come in Thomas or James Morgan born 1702 who married Hestor Taylor. She is said to have had a son, William born 1774. However, James or Thomas died in 1784 after having 17 children by 2 marriages. Has anyone got a mysterious William in this tree or references to the family or to a William Morgan in Greene Co., TN born 1774-1777? I would appreciate any response regarning possibilities. Thank you.

I am looking for any info on the Morgan family that started in NJ and moved to Indiana. There were several siblings that I am aware of. There was a James, Dorothy, Wallace, William and a Charles. All seem to have been born in the early 1900's. Charles did not go to Indiana and was killed in a mining accident in NJ in 1939. The others all moved to Indiana. William died in the late 1950's from a supposed self inflicted shot gun wound. The others have all passed in the 1980's.

I am seeking any and all info, especially where the family originated from and who their parents were.

I am just starting this project and would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Morgan, Ro(d)gers, Boyer VA, TN, MO, IN - 1820s-1860s

I am searching for the parents of a George Ro(d)gers, bn. VA approx. 1832. George's wife was Rhoda (nee Boyer) (daughter of Lewis Boyer & Rebecca [nee Cowherd]).

I find both George & Rhoda in the Wright Cty. MO 1860 census living in separate houses next door to each other.

In George's household are several young people -- some of whom may not be his children but, perhaps, nephews or nieces whose parents died:

George Rodgers 63 bn. VA
Jane 35 TN
Thomas " 14 MO
Eliza " 3 "
Harriet Franklin 11 "
Asa Rodgers 19 MO

George is buried in Kincheloe Cemetery in MO which lists him as a Civil War Vet.

In Rhoda (Boyer) Rodgers household next door is:

Rhoda Rodgers 32 TN
Lace(?) B. Morgan 12 MO
George V.(?) " 10 "
Amanda M. " 8 "
Harriet E. Rodgers 4 "

Next door to Rhoda are her parents, Lewis (age 58 TN) & Rebecca (age 57 NC) Boyer and an Eliza Boyer (age 30 TN).

In the only other documentation I have on Rhoda (a small book written by a cousin), she apparently married a man named Morgan AFTER she married George Rodgers; however, the only child listed in the book from that union was George Valentine Morgan.

So I am also trying to determine how the rest of these Morgan children in Rhoda's household are related to her. I know who Harriet Rodgers was. She was a sister -- or half sister -- to my great grandmother Nancy Ann Ro(d)gers who married my great grandfather Joseph Lane Wood who also lived in Hartville, Wright Cty. MO.

There's a small problem, however, because Nancy Ann Rodgers is YOUNGER than all of these Morgan children and younger, even, than Harriet E. Rodgers (her sister). I don't see how this is possible if Rhoda married a Morgan man AFTER she was married to George Rodgers!

I also would like to determine how Harriet Franklin fits into this family.

Living next door to George Rodgers on the opposite side from Rhoda (Boyer) Rodgers is an "A. J. Rodgers" (male, age 26, IN) with Elizabeth Rodgers (age 24, IN) and child Susan Rodgers (less than 1 yr. old bn. MO). I do not know how "A.J." is related to George but would like to find out.

If the census is correct in listing George's age as 63 and Rhoda's as 32, it is quite likely George was married before but, it is in RHODA's household that children by a different name (Morgan) are living!

This census confuses me no end!

Can any Morgan family, "Rogers"/"Rodgers" family (or even Boyer or Franklin families) researchers straighten this mess out for me? I would appreciate it greatly!

Still, though, the main object of my quest is to find George Ro(d)gers' parents.

My eternal gratitude to anyone out there who can lend a hand...

jean in CA

P.S. -- I forgot to mention that the discrepancy in George's ages is because I took the ages from two different sources. The census taker in the 1860 census plainly corrected something about George's age and the result LOOKS LIKE "63"; however, in the 1870 census for Wright Cty., my cousin's book and in the records of Kincheloe, he is listed as born approx. 1832 in TN or VA which would've made him 27-28-29 in 1860.
Mary H. Morgan - New York and Newport

Searching for information on Mary H. Morgan, born about 1842 (or at late as 20 January 1847) in New York, died before 5 August 1924. Miss Morgan's first husband is believed to have been George Reade. Apparently there were no children.
By the 1880 census she was married to her second husband, Admiral Charles Henry Baldwin (1822-1888) was was living at 560 Fifth Avenue in New York. She also owned Snug Harbor, a house in Newport RI. She is buried in the Green-Wood Cemetery, lot 717, section 60, in Brooklyn, next to Mr. Reade.
I believe that Miss Morgan had sisters named Annie G. Morgan and Eliza Morgan.
If you have information on this Morgan family, please contact jmfrease@comcast.net.

Please help me.......I have two sets of MORGAN's in my family tree. Am having problems with both sets. The first one is my husband side of the family------Lee Butler Morgan b.july 4 1878 and d. Jan 12 1928 buried in Flat creek cemetery. He married a Sarah Jane Powell. That is all I know on him. The second one is on my mothers side of the family. Her name is Helen Edith Lillian Morgan b. Feb 1 1903 in Detroit, Michigan d. 1990 in Tucson, Az. She married a Caleb Goerge Barnes in 1938 in California(I beleive) but have not found any information to support this. Caleb and Helen(Anne a name she went by) was actors on stage. Again I have no information about this. Now my mother says her grand fathers name is Henry Morgan and as soon as his family got off the boat they took him to centeral park New York and left him. I have know Idea about this also. Now where do I start. Any help would be very much appreciated.Thank you

Mary A Kube

Mary Isabelle MORGAN m. Michael KENOYER in Harrison County, IN in 1816. Who were her parents??

I see LDS references to a JOHN MORGAN SARAH HEACOCK-HENCOCK who married in May 1770 in PA; though the county varies with the source: Schuyhall, Philadelphia, Lancaster, and Chester. Mary Isabelle was born 1792 in SC but then married in IN in 1816. Was it only a temporary stay in SC?

Michael and his family migrated from PA to IN, via Ohio, abt 1810/11. He and Mary Isabelle stayed in Harrison Co, IN, until about 1840 when they migrated to northeastern MO.

I recently visited the Salem Cemetery located on Fall Creek Road just south of the intersection with Mud Creek Road. There I found Samuel (1825-1905) and Sarah (1838-1906) Morgan's grave which was not previously listed on Find-A-Grave (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=86...). Their daughter Laura Morgan (1873-1874) is also buried there. Thought this might help anyone trying to research this family. I am not related.

Gilmore and Isabelle Morgan-Indianapolis

I purchased an old house on South Audubon Road in the Irvington neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana. The original owners of the house were Gilmore and Isabelle Morgan. Gilmore owned a grocery store and possibility a pharmacy. They lived in the house from the early 1900s through the 1940s. The house has been "remuddled" many times and all of the original fixtures are gone and I believe the floor plan has been altered. I would love to talk with anyone who knows about the house and see any picture they have of the interior or exterior of the house as I would like to restore the house. Thanks ahead of time for any insight that you can give me.

I am trying to find the parents of my gg grandmother Elizabeth MORGAN, born 1825 (+/- 1 year) in Tredegar MON. She married John BREEZE, an iron worker, in the 1850's (my guess from childrens ages). I know from her 1881 census entry (Dowlais, GLA) that she had 2 MORGAN nephews, Daniel b. ~1864 Cwmbach, GLA and Sullivan, b.~1866 Tredegar, MON.
Elizabeth and John moved around many iron towns in the UK.
I believe John abandoned the family around 1870 and moved to Pennsylvania. Elizabeth died in Tredegar in 1888.

I am looking, though half-heartedly, for the first born son of Rueben Morgan Jr (1797-1862). Rueben's son would have been born between 1814 and 1820 in the Newberry District of South Carolina. He is shown on the 1830 and 1840 Census in Newberry, but of course no name is given. I found a Samuel Morgan living in the Newberry District of South Carolina on the 1850 Census that might be a match, but I admit that it is a long shot. Do you have a Morgan ancestor that might fit this description?

Hello everyone - I just uncovered my ggg grandmother's maiden name yesterday - Henrietta Morgan, born Oct 1830 in USK, Wales. Hooray! It was a mighty brick wall.

She married John Pearce (from Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, England) in ABT 1850 in England (or Wales?). They immigrated with several children in 1867.

Anyway, does anyone have any info on Morgan's from USK, Monmouthshire, WALES? Can anyone suggest any resources?

This is a huge board; I wasn't able to dig through all of it. I will continue scouring the web too.

Thanks!
Megan

Morgans of Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, Wales

I am interested in any Morgans who may have lived in Skenfrith in the 1810s. Margaret Curtis, daughter of James and Mary Morgan was born there on April 20, 1816. James' occupation was listed as "farmer" in her baptism record, dated April 21, 1816. I have no idea where James and Mary married or who their parents were so I am very interested in any Morgans in the area at that time period, hoping for some sort of ties.

According to family tradition, James may have moved his family to Cheltenham, Gloustershire, England by 1840. An 1830 directory of Cheltenham shows a James Morgan living on Bath in Cheltenham. His occupation was listed as a tailor. James' daughter, Margaret, invented a dressmaker's model so the occupation seems consistent with Margaret's later interests and abilities. I am also interested in any Morgans living in Cheltenham in the 1830's and 1840's, or maybe even later. Margaret came to the US sometime before 1846. It is believed that her parents disowned her around that time when she joined the LDS faith. She married Theodore Curtis on Jan 17, 1846 in Nauvoo, Hancock, IL.

I would be very excited to learn anything about James and Mary--where they married and if they had any other children, or where and when they died. Thanks for your time and help.
Susan
