Hi Mark,
It is a long time since you posted. Are you still seeking contact info?
Was your grandmother Annie Mulholland born Port Glasgow, Scotland about 1889? Had known siblings Rodger, John and Helen/Ellen and marriage connections to Grogan and Montgomery families? She would also have had O'Neil and McAteer cousins.
Regards
Tony Collins

Mulhollands of Beverly twp., Ontario

Joyce, I'd be interested in comparing MULHOLLAND info. I'm researching the family of George CALDWELL/CALWELL/COLWELL and Julia Ann HALL who are buried in the Troy Cemetery in Beverly twp. Their oldest daughter was Phebe Ann CALDWELL who married William John WATTS and they ended up in Ashtabula county, Ohio, in the states. Their youngest daughter however, Julia Ann CALDWELL, married Smith MULHOLLAND. Julia was born in Ontario about 1865. I don't have all my details handy at the moment, but I believe that Smith was born about the same time in Ontario, and that his father's name was George MULHOLLAND. Julia and Smith MULHOLLAND eventually moved to Ashtabula also, about 1902. Julia died there in 1958. Have copies of obituaries for Julia and Smith as well as info on their children. Let me know if any of this shows up in your MULHOLLAND records. Thanks,

The father was Hugh and they had a large family, some born in Ireland and some in N.Y.I have 7 of their children but belive there were more. Your John could be from this family if he was born in 1782 in N.Y. They were in Ulster Co. in 1790. My great, great, great grandfather was George son of Hugh born in1784 in N.Y. There are a lot of Johns and George in the family. E-mail me. Ruth Mulholland Harrow

I wrote this once and the message board said there was an error- so if you get this twice- sorry!!
Not sure when Michael Lucy Mulholland left ireland and landed in canada- their daughter Sarah was born in Canada in 1841. She married Laurance Egan- i'm assuming in Canada because he was born Ireland and ended up in canada at some point. their oldest son was born in canada in 1858ish based on census records. their next child- a daughter was born 2 years later in michigan. Laurance and Sarah settled in st. clair county mich. Sarah's death cert. lists her parents residence as the city of Port Huron. not sure if they came to michigan with sarah and laurance- or later- also not sure if they(michael and Lucy) had other children.

I don't think so, my Michael Mulholland was married to Lucy McAron- they were both born in Ireland, but their daughter Sarah Mulholland that married Laurance Egan was born in 1842. This is before the date of birth for your Michael.
Her death certificate and all the census records i've found her in do list her birth as canada and her parents as ireland. Also, her death certificate does list her parents as residing in Port Huron at some point or another. Let me know if you ever come across something that may relate to this group.
Thanks!!
I have a Michael with very sketchy information since it is not a direct line. My Michael is the son of Hugh James Mulholland and Catherine Mellon. He was born in Ireland about 1855 and died in California. I don't know if he ever was in the Port Huron area. Hugh James brough his family and settled in Canada and many of those children are dispersed. My direct line is Hugh Joseph Mulholland and would be Michael's brother. Let me know if any of this makes any sense in your work.
Gloria

Their daughter Sarah Mulholland married Laurance Egan. Michael and Lucy were said to be born in Ireland and Sarah was born in Canada. I do know that Laurance came from ireland through canada and settled in st. clair county. i have no other mulholland info. i do believe Laurance and Sarah married in canada although i have not verified this. Their oldest son was born in canada and that is where i am making that assumption...Any mention of these people in your records?

Either a weird coincidence or we're related. My Mulholland family was located in Esquesing Twn., Halton Co., Ontario as of the 1861 Census. The family included John (1828-1850), his wife Ann ? (1798-1868), Hugh (1828-1850) Patrick (1826-1881) and Agnes Mulholland O'Donoghue (1831-1869). They are all buried in Dublin Cemetery (also called St Joseph Cemetery) in Esquesing Township. John Mulholland and Matthew McCann donated the land for St. Joseph Church (since torn down) and for the adjacent cemetery. Records re kept at St Joseph Church in Acton, Ontario. People from the Acton area sometimes moved to Michigan and that may have happened here. I have substantial records and alsocontacts with some of the people still living in Ontario. let me know what you think. Dick B.

Mulhollands from Co. Tyrone to Rhode Island, USA

Hi everyone! I originally posted this back in 2001 but I thought I'd try to revive the topic.

I am seeking to exchange information with anyone that has information on the Mullhollands of Rhode Island. I can trace back to Arthur Mullholland (wife: Anne Hughes) who came over with his parents (Patrick and Mary Mulholland) and siblings (William, Patrick Jr., Mary, John, and Charles) from Co. Omagh, Ireland in 1845 to Providence, Rhode Island (at least that's where they ended up). But I can't get any information past that. I know that Patrick's parents were Peter and Betsey Mulholland (who stayed in NI) and they all came from the parish of Termonmcguirk (near the town of Carrickmore).

Any further information on the Irish or Rhode Island Mulhollands would be greatly appreciated. I would certainly trade what I have.

-Sam

Hi there, thanks very much for replying to my message. The Mulhollands are my partner Matthew Murray Mulholland's family, and up until I started this research earlier in the year not much was known about them.

Who are your parents? Matt is the son of Pamela Mulholland, who was the daughter of Matthew Murray Mulholland and Mary Derrick.

Do you happen to have the family tree that was compiled by Bill Mulholland? I have been told that before his death he had traced the line back considerably.

The furthest I have been able to trace the line is to Andrew Mulholland and Margery (margret) Leitch. They were living in Lanarkshire Scotland. Thee is a census that says they were both born in Ireland, and also a census that says they were born in scotland? I haven't been able to find their marriage certificate or death certificate yet.

I have found out a bit about your grandfathers brothers and sisters. But I know nothing about the Mulhollands that came to Tasmania, apart from Andrew, who died in Timor.

If you could shed some light it would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards, Sara (you can email direct - sara.irwin@hotmail.com)

Mulholland, Leitch from northern ireland and emigrated to scotland

I am trying to find info on Andrew Mulholland, born around 1815 in Ireland and his wife Margery (Margaret?) Leitch, born around 1819 in Ireland. I believe they were married around 1840 and would have moved to Scotland sometime before 1848. In scotland they lived in Lanarkshire. They had the following children

Mary 1842
John 1843
Isabella 1845
Andrew 1848
Thomas 1851
William 1854
David 1856
Margery 1860

I have already found out a bit about the son William and his decendants but I have only found out a tiny bit from the scottish census about the rest of the children or Andrew and Margery apart from being told Andrew died in 1860. I would be grateful for any help, especially info about the parents and siblings of either Andrew or Margery.

I also assume they were from the north of Ireland as the decendants of their son william were Orange men.

Do you know where Daniel was born? Or his fathers name. My Great X3 Grandfather James Mulholland had a son Daniel who was mentioned by name and relationship in a news report about a court action in Littleton, Tipperary in 1837. I have a copy of the articale. Baptism info is available from 1800 in Littleton. however no record of Daniel was found. Although a record of Daniels brother Bernard (my ancestor)was found

I have run across Daniel's in Philadelphia, PA and another in Oregon all born around 1800. However have found it very difficult to firmly establish relationship with the Daniel Mulholland mentioned above.

Did any of your family go to Canada as well? Nancy (or Agnes) Mulholland, daughter of Hugh Mulholland and unknown, married John Witherow on May 7, 1846 in the Church of Ireland parish church in Lower Tamlaght (or Tamlaght O'Crilly) in County Londonderry. They emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the Mt. Forest area. Their daughter, Mary Ann, is my great grandmother. I know very little about the Mulholland side and am searching for information on that family. I am always happy to share what I have. I have information on Mary Ann's children and their families in both Ontario and Ohio. Mary Ann was married twice, her first daughter, Annie Hall, was raised in Ontario by Agnes and John. Annie's father was John Paul Hall. Mary Ann came to Ohio and married my great grandfather, Humphrey Baird Jackson.
I am a decedent of Bridget and Owen. I am interested in checking out all the Mulholland in the tree though, because there is one located near my great-grandmother's grave and I am wondering if there is any connection between the two. It's a long shot, but the surname stood out to me. My great grandmother was Mary Sarah Bruner and her grandmother was Bridget and Owen's dau Bridget. So, the surname isn't real far off.

Jack,
you certainly seem to know your townloands arround the Maghera area --- where are you from.

When talking to people outside of the Maghera area,I say I am from Slaughtneil as it is more famous (we have a GAA club). However, I was actaully born and reared in Tirkane.
Like you, my grandparents were Felix and Nancy Mulholland.

Thanks,
Barney

Barney a Chara

My Mulhollands lived a long way from Slaughtneil (all the way over in Tirkane, Tirnony and Tullyheeran.) They probably never wandered all the way across the fields to rough country :-) I read that some of your family came out to America. If you know their names and when, please post them. I am a double McKenna (An Droichead ) My gran, Elizabeth Mulholland (Tirkane) married a Bridge McKenna (Tullyheeran). My gran's mother, Nancy was a McKenna (Tirnony) and married Felix Mulholland. My McKennas parish was Glen Chapel (St. Pats)

Birth Location of James and Janet (Bryce/Brice) Mulholland

James born abt. 1845 and Janet Bryce/Brice born abt 1847 Mullholland came to America with their 2 children, William and Jane. I found in the Castle Garden records on the internet a James, Janet, William and Janet arrival in New York on Jun 16, 1870 on board the Australia, origin Ireland, Port Glasgow, last residence - record doesn't say.
James was a coal miner and they settled in Pennsylvania. They would have 3 more children, born in Pennsylvania. I have a little more info on this family and willing to share. What I don't know is where James and Janet were born. Thank you.
