Finding a death certificate in NC before 1913 will be difficult since the state did not keep vital statistics before then. Might be easier to find a baptismal record.
I have Murphy's from Richmond/Scotland counties in my tree, and Cumberland isn't too far away from there. Mine are Margaret, b 1790's and Jennett, m. Archibald M. McCormick. Have you by chance run across these Murphy's in your research? Thanks, Jim Utley
