I was just lucky Phyliss. My cousin has papers on my grandfather's immigration. She sent me copies of boarding papers and the name of the ship he boarded in Bremen, Ger and many other great papers. He was a VICTORINE org spelled VIKTORIN. I also had the foresight to pump my dad while he was alive and know his father came from Ceska Trebova a small town 80 miles east of Prague.
It was my dad's mother who was a Hovorka and his grandfather who came from Czecho. I have found a rel who's mother had done a lot of work on the Hovorka's. He sent me his files and I will see if I can locate your Mary.
My Czech relatives settled in a little town near Cedar Rapids, Iowa a town called ELY. There are many Czechs in Cedar Rapids, in case you were not aware of that. Also in Chicago.

I'll get back to you in a day or two.

kay

On censuses after 1900,I have been unable to find My ggr, Marie (Kareta)Hovorka, widowed in NYC in 1898, b1852, Kutna Hora (nr Prague), do you think that your Edward may have been in NYC around 1903 or so, and that we could be referring to the same Mary Hovorka? PS. How did you get so much info on the Czech family? I have been using Tom Zahn's PATHFINDERS(in Prague) to do my research. We are going to the Czech Rep in June, I am sooo excited.
