a daughter of the late Jacob and Lucy Kern.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Hilbert;
her second husband, August Nies;
and her third husband, Arnold Nick;
a daughter, Shirley Ames;
a granddaughter, Linda DeBello;
three sisters, Edith Zawosky,
Norie Gable
and Ruth Klinehantz;
and two brothers, Leo and Robert Kern.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Shirleen Wolf of North East,
Deborah Hurley of Erie,pa,
Joseph Ames of Pittsburgh,
and Clarence Ames of Arizona;
a sister, Helen Bonamino, of California;
and a number of great-grandchildren;
great-great-grandchildren;
a great-great-great-grandchild;
and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call on Thursday evening at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 7 p.m. until the time of the service at 8:45 p.m. with the Rev. G. Peter Nick came to New York in 1907 from Rottersdam, Holland. He was born in Mesenich, Germany and raised in Dusseldorf by his aunt. Before immigrating here, I don't have much information. I know he owned a motion picture house in Cologne, Germany and at the time, it was only one of two existing in 1906 or 7. He married Brigitta Tummeler and they had 4 kids (Maria, Otto, Julianne, and Hedwig). He was drafted in 1918 during WWI and I have nothing for him since. I also would like information for anything before coming to America. Any information helps!

There was a CHARLES T. NICK born August 18, 1862 in New Orleans and died December 18, 1888 in New Orleans. His parents were Charles Nick born 1835 in Darmstadt, Germany and he married Caroline Falkenheimer, born 1830 and died December 6, 1911.

the daughter of the late Edwin W. and Mildred Scholes Nick.She graduated from Knox School in Cooperstown, NY and attended the University of Wisconsin.She was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul and a member of the Cathedral League of St. Paul. She was an officer and board member of the Northfield League, Junior League of Erie, the Visiting Nurse Association, and Delta Sigma Sorority. She was also a member of the Carrie T. Watson Garden Club and the Brevillier Village Auxiliary.She was preceded in death by her husband, John Freeman Lund in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Lund, Middleton, WI; a son, Edwin H. Lund and his wife Michele Chaffee Lund, Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren: Michael Edwin Roehl, Benjamin Jordan Roehl and Catherine Elizabeth Roehl, Christian-John Lund, Harrison Taylor Lund and Brett Michael Lund, a brother, Robert E. I believe his parents were James Nix Chr. 22 feb 1611 St. Dunstan Parish, London, England, died New Kent, virginia, USA; and Sarah Elizabeth Lewis Chr. 9 Apr 1614 in St. Dunstan Parish, died New Kent. They married 16 May 1636 in London.
They had 3 children in Barbados starting in 1637 and moved to New Kent, Virginia by 1640.

We might also have a descendant of Bernard's brother, Joseph on this thread and I think I came across someone's tree with descendants of George or Frederick (I have to review). Wow. Is your great grandfather, Joseph, son of Joseph and Anna Nick from Philadelphia, PA and brother of Bernard, Harry, Frederick, Alphonse, Mary, Anna, Caroline and Catherine c. 1900? This Joseph married sometime after 1920 (at which time he was 36). I then lose track of him. If this sounds right then welcome to the family.

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 25 October 1890...

Waco, Texas, October 13 - Minnie Nick, the old German lady who fell from a pecan tree Saturday evening and broke a leg, died this morning. She was 62 years of age and lay under the tree two hours after the accident before found. Exposure is supposed to have caused the fate turn taken this morning.

Nick, a German military officer, who married Sophia Stadmund in 1818. They reared a family of six children, as follows: William, of Erie; Frederick (deceased) was mayor of the city of Esslinger, Germany, for 20 yrs; Sophie, wife of J.J. Schmitten, of Sabulla, Ia.; Ernest, Caroline, wife of Charles Fuchs, of Erie, and Charles (deceased). Ernest Nick married Mary, daughter of John M. Veit, of Summit township, September 22, 1859, who married Marguretta Knodle, of the town of Horrpeim, Wurtemburg, Germany, the latter living to the advanced age of 83. I'm researching the Nick Family in Philadelphia, PA, USA, my marenal grandfather's family. My grandmother, Theresa Nick, died this month. She was a Kosman and distantly from Patterson, NJ. My grandfather' family goes back 3 generations in Philadelphia -- Joseph son of Harry son of Joseph. These generations all lived in the Kensington area of Philadelphia. Original Joseph was from Prussia (some say Alsace-Lorraine) and was married to Anna from Switzerland. They had about 10 children. Harry married Anna Butler. He eventually left Anna and lived in one of the South New Jersey shore towns in a rooming house owned by a fat woman. Anna lived with her son, Joseph, after his marriage to Theresa. They had 11 children, of which 9 are living. Does this sound at all familiar to anyone? I'd love to hear from you.

I have found a Florida Death index for a John Nick Sr. that died in July 1965, in Polk County. All of the information matches what I have. His birth in Austria in 1879 matches my records. It can be him. It is the closest that I can find for a match.

My name is Diane Marie Nick-Setser. I am writing this letter in hope that you may be able to assist me in finding some information about my father Alan Nick. I had the pleasure of having a wonderful father until his death when I was seven years old. Due to a fire when I was young I have no photos of him. I have been searching for a photo, a friend, or any piece of history that would bring him closer to me. I always have had fond memories of my father and up until a few years ago I could remember what he looked like. This makes my heart ache and I wish I had something to remember him by. I am now 32 years old and it seems that as I have gotten older the idea of having a photo seems even more important then ever. I have been told by my mother that my nine year old son looks just like my father…. I only wish I had a photo to show him and compare it to.

This letter is a final hope that someone, somewhere, knew him.

I have listed a few known facts below.
Alan Nick (deceased June 1980) – D.O.B.- March 4, 1945 …
His father: Christ Nick (deceased) lived in Grosse Pointe – Wayne, MI … His mother: Eleanor Nick (deceased when I was 4) My father had a brother Mel Nick (deceased) who moved to Tucson, MI and I believe he had another brother and sister.

My father worked for Chrysler.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter and hope that you may be the key to him.

I found out Clara's maiden name is Carlow and first married name is Bickford and not Wickford. I found out a little about her ancestors as well. She married Jacob? Bickford before she married Charles S.D. Nick. She had a son with her first husband.

LACONIA-Daniel W. Nick, 58, of Blueberry Lane, died Sunday. He was born in Laconia, the son of Daniel and Irene (Hinds) Nick. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1961. Nick was the former owner of Laconia Auto Wrecking Co., and worked as a sales representative for Sanel Auto Parts Co. for 17 years, retiring in 2001 due to illness. He was a member of the Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 32 F&AM, the Laconia Country Club and the Locmere Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his mother, Irene McDonald of Gilford; his wife, Carol (Roberts) Nick of Laconia; a daughter, Janice Hastings of Allenstown; a son, William Nick of Las Vegas; a stepson, Ed Mansur of Londonderry; a brother, David Nick of Gilford; and four grandchildren. His father died in 1968. Calling hours will not be held. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. The Rev. George Hankins-Hull, spiritual care coordinator of Lakes Region General Hospital, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Health and Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia 03246.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Nick.

They had 10 children: Anna, Katie, Lawrence, Sophia, Joseph, Mary, Jacob, and Mathias (one child died in infancy). They came to Marshfield, WI. I was told my ggrandfather's name was shorten to Nick. I have no ideal what is was shorten from. I know it had to be German, of course, but I am at a loss. I know they came across on a ship from Germany. My grandfather was suppose to be born in America but he was born, July 9, 1865, six weeks before the ship reach New York. He was my ggrandparents first child. They went on to Whiteside County, near Toledo, OH. Then on to Cedar County, Iowa. Then on to Berlin Township in Clinton County, IL. In 1906, they moved to Beebe, White County, Arkansas. They bought three farms and ran a general store. My grandfather ended up a blacksmith, due to the necessity of needing one for three farms. John Baltazor Nick married Helena Zeller around 1840. Both from Prussia, Germany. Helena Zeller died in Brookhaven, Mississippi on 10/5/1873. I think John died in New Orleans, La. Children: Louis C. Nick born 2/25/1841, Catherine Nick Falkenheimer born 2/25/1841, Henry Emile Nick, George C. Nick, Mary Nick Regan, Emma Nick born 1840 married Thomas Gardner 12/2/1859, Sophia Nick born 9/1/1851. John was 1st married to Johanna Gabel, three children born Charles Nick, Eva Nick Funk and Margare Nick Schaefer. Came to America in 1845-46. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Looking for ancestry of John Nick of Pengilly, MN, either of German or Austrian origin, moved to Lakeland, Florida late 19teen's or early 1920's.

MN family consisted of wife, Hattie (Herman) Nick; son Lawrence married to Pauline Bobich with sons Richard, Edward, Paul; daughter Harriet, married to Frank Zagar, sons Francis, James, Roger; son Joseph married to Esther Lempia, with daughters JoAnn, Phyllis, Gloria, Janeen & sons Neil, Dale; son Russel married to Evelyn with at least 2 sons. Russel died young in private plane crash about winter 1945. Only John Nick's daughter, Harriet is still living.

John moved to Lakeland FL at uncertain time, where he had a second family of unknown makeup & size.
