Edgar Duncan Owen b 1914 Neath, Glamorgan

Edgar Duncan Owen was born 1914 Neath, Glamorgan and was killed in Tunisia 1943. His wife's name was Flora and I do not know her maiden name but possibly Davies . They had three children Brian, Margaret and Sylvia. Brian was born possibly 1935/6, Margaret was born next and Sylvia 1943 in Neath, Glamorgan after her father's death. I cannot find a marriage of Edgar and Flora or the births of Margaret and Brian. I have found some births but not in the area of Neath,Llanelly,Neath Abbey and I am told that is where they would have been born. Any help would be appreciated .

You folks are way ahead of me. I can only trace back to my ggggrandfather on my mother's side. He was William George Owen(s) and was born in Tennessee abt 1826. He died bef 1880 in Illinois. He married three times. He married Elizabeth Lane in 1849, Elizabeth Hankins in 1858 and here sister Octavia in 1863. They had the following children: Elizabeth Lane had Isaac James Owen, William Wodsworth Owen, Margarett Ann Owen. Elizabeth Hankins had Francis M Owen. Octavia Hankins had Jasper N Owen, George R Owen, John W Owen, and Wilis Riley Owen. I have reason to believe his mother may have been named Anna and his father was born in Wilson Co. Tenn.

If anyone has any information on who William George's parents were, it would really be appreciated.

I am searching for my fathers side of the family. He was born Oliver Neil OWEN somewhere in Wales around 1905 to John James OWEN and Agnes OWEN. He was the eldest and had two brothers - William & Ernest and three sisters - Vera, Ida and Isobelle. They came to (Victoria) Australia when I think my father was around 2years of age so I think his siblings were born in Australia. His first marriage produced 5 daughters - Vernonica, Elaine,Wynifred, Barbara and I'm not sure about the 5th. I think one of his brothers died during the 2nd world war on a large ship, possibly the SS Melbourne.

Catharine Owen born abt, 1802

Catharine Owen - Birth: abt 1808 - South Carolina
Residence: 1860 - Covington Co., Leon, Alabama

I can not find Catharine in the 1870 cencus so I believe that she died before 1870.

Cathareine Owen is my ggg grandmother. Does any one have any information on her before 1850. She is listed in the 1850 Covington Co. AL census, age 42, with children: S. Shadnack, Matilda, Edward, John, Absalon, Jesse, and Caroline. I would like to know her maiden name and who her husband was.

John Owen, 65, is listed living next door to Catharine with Bryant Owen, age 32, as head of house in the 1850 Covington Co. AL census.

Matilda Owen married James Caleb Isgate(Isget) in Butler County, Alabama in the 1850's.

On the 1860 census of Covington Co. Catharine Owen was a farmer, 52 years old and Jesse, Susan C. (Caroline?) and Absalon are listed with her. This was in Leon, Covington Co., AL. very close to the Crenshaw County, AL line. Probably what is now Dozier, AL.

I believe that Catharine's maiden name might have been Stephens. She might have traveled with a group of her relatives from South Carolina to Mobile, AL and/or Mississippi. She and daughter Matilda owned land in St. Stephens. Also, other Owen's relatives owned land in St. Stephens.

Any HELP would be appreciated.
Searching for Athelston Owen who married Ella L Young 20 Nov 1876 in Powhattan Tsp., Brown Co., Kansas. Ella L Young is probably the daughter of Hiram Clark Young and Elizabeth Esther Stetson, also of Powhattan on that date. From the 1880 census of Brown Co., KS, Athelston was born prox 1853 in Wales. Both his parents were also born in Wales. [Athelston Owen was listed as A.Owen in the 1880 census.] What happened to Athelston and Ella after the 4 Jun 1880 census? All information appreciated.
L Calaway@emmcpa.com

Bartholomew OWEN

I would appreciate any data, from authentic sources, which might help me to sort out the valid data from much conflicting data about my 6g-gf, Bartholomew Owen. Various internet researchers give a wide range of data. His birthdate appeaars to be fairy consistent, at 1619. Some show death at 1/17/1678, others show 1/31/1676/77. Some show wife as Ann Charles, others show Joanne "Jone" Jennings, and Joanna Figuret. Some, which I failed to record, show that Joanna/Johanna, wife of Bartholomew, was the adopted daughter of Christopher Lewis. Some show birth of Joanna Jennings as 1652, and death as 1694. The birthdates of Bartholomew's children appear to be fairly consistent as follows;... Robert b 1667, Katherine b 1668, Wm b 1670, Thomas b 1571 or 1672. If Joanna (Jennings?) Lewis, b 1652, was mother of his children, she would have been age 12, while Bartholomew would have been age 48, at the birth of Robert.

I am looking for decendants of Robert Owen of New Harmony. I know he had at least 3 sons: Robert Dale Owen (b. 1801), David Dale Owen (b. 1807), and Richard Owen (b.1809), (possibly others). Althought the original Robert Owen returned to Britian, the three sons settled in the United States.

My wife's gggrandmother was Eliza Jane Marshall. Her mother was an Owen (according to family lore the mother was a niece of Robert Dale Owen and a granddaughter of Robert Owen). I do not know the first name of Eliza Jane Marshall's mother or father; I do not know the name of her grandfather. Eliza Jane Marshall did marry John Ellis.

Hi there,

I'm looking to confirm the parents of Charles Owen born 1879 in Montgomeryshire, Wales I think. He was married to Eliza Moody in 1898.

I haven't been able to find the birth record of Charles, but according to his marriage certificte to Eliza his father was listed as William who was a labourer and that's all I know.

From searching census records, I think I may have found Williams mother as being a Jane but there isn't any mention of a father to any of these children so I am keen to find all the information I can about this branch of my family tree.

If anyone has any information or links to this Owen family from Wales / Shropshire area please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards
Tina
Frederick OWEN in Australia and South Africa

Still trying to find any OWEN connections - I have Frederick OWEN born in Geelong Victoria Australia circa 1870 son of Thomas OWEN and Mary nee MALDON. Married Ada (or Adrienne) RAPKINS in Elmhurst Victoria Australia in 1898. They went to South Africa some time between 1898 and 1917. There seem to be many OWEN families with sons and grandsons named Frederick and Thomas, but so far none of them is the one I'm looking for. I don't know where Fred's parents came from, but they were living in the town of Maryborough, central Victoria, Australia, at the time of Fred's marriage to Ada. Fred's occupation, and that of his father Thomas, is given as seedsman on the wedding certificate for Fred and Ada. Fred died in South Africa (possibly Transvaal) in 1949 and Ada was still alive then, but I don't know what happened to Ada or when she died. This family is one of my major brick walls. Any help would be much appreciated.
Julie Hopper in Australia.

According to the stories (unverified) one or more of the brothers settled in Page County, Virginia. Richard T. Owen (my grandfather) settled in Shamokin, PA -- subsequently died January 10, 1916 in Anne Arundle MD (may have been buried there to). Looking for any info on the brothers and when they came from Wales (England?). Richard's wife was Melissa Emaline Morgan (born March 20, 1850; died November 14, 1914). His date of birth was April 7, 1848.
