Hi Jerry, my name is Agnes and I happen to live in St. Louis. The Papins/Choteaus were two of the most prominent families in early St. Louis. There is an incredible amount of information here in STL relating to the Papins. There is a Papin street here too (southside of St. Louis). I know all this because I am researching Papin relatives of my own. I remember seeing a website that gave a family tree that listed tons of Choteaus, Papins and Mc-something, but I don't remember if it was Mclain. I'll try and find it and get back to you. Hi Kathryn. Concerning Josephine Papin, I got a book from the library called "The founding family of St. Louis" by Mary B. Cunningham/Jeanne C. Blythe. It's primarily concerns the Chouteaus, but since they are very closely linked by marriage to the Papins, there are many Papins listed as well. I didn't see anything Smuckers' referenced, but there is a Josephine Papin who is the child of Eugene Papin and Mary Booth. It says: Born June 18, 1872; died 1930. Married June 2, 1917 St. Louis to William Tompkins, son of Cornelius Tompkins and Louis Benoist and brother of Cornelius Tompkins who married Mary Virginia Waterman. No children. I don't know if this helps you at all, but it's all I have.

Born 1832 in St. Louis, MO. He married Martha Sollar on 21 April 1866. Sometime in next 4 years he married Elizabeth Unknown my great -grandmother. Also, Stephen died 9 May 1900 and was buried in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. His second wife Elizabeth (my great grandmother) died 8 March 1902 and was buried in the same plot with Stephen.

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

PLATTSBURGH -- Linda "Slug" Papin, 58, of Pear Street, Plattsburgh passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Watertown, N.Y., on July 3, 1947, the daughter of Harold Everett and Ruth Doris (Davis) Hunt Sr.

Linda was an avid bowler, having bowled in the Casino League at North Bowl Lanes where she received the Most Improved Average. She enjoyed camping and reading.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Ruth Hunt Sr.; her sisters, Ruth Ann Brink and Emma Jean Dominie; and a brother, Harold Everett Hunt Jr.

She is survived two sons, Charles Hunt and his wife Michelle of Plattsburgh and Jerry Waite and his wife Teresa of Altona; two daughters, Loretta "Gert" Waite and her companion Buck Boula of Plattsburgh and Kelly Hunt of Plattsburgh; seven sisters, Edna Wilson of Atlanta, Ga., Nancy Bengtsson of Plattsburgh, Leona Hunt of Plattsburgh, Kay Martin and her husband Al of Plattsburgh, Penny VanValkenburg and her husband Rick of Plattsburgh, Donna Doolittle and her husband Clyde of Lafargeville, N.Y., and Margaret Hunt of Iowa; three brothers, Elmer Hunt and his wife Louanne of Watertown, James Hunt of Plattsburgh and Robert Hunt of Florida; nine grandchildren, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Freeman, Shanna Freeman, Makayla Long, Philip Long, Cody Waite, Haydee Waite, Alyza Agoney and Octavia Waite; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 8:30 with the Rev. Clark Callander, Pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating.

Friends wishing may make donations to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center.

Hi, I am also trying to find some family information. My grandmother, Josephine Smucker, has a baby cup which has been engraved with her name, as well as, the name of Josephine Papin. No seems to know if there is a family connection or if they were perhaps godmother and godchild. Has anyone found a link between Papin and Smucker?

Please check my other message that I posted today. My Papin's were in and about NY, MI, and Canada. Probably Ellis Island and Nova Scotia,(???) too. There is also Laduc and Veio, Veilleux, Veau ... whatever! That's another mystery. And, McAussen, McCosham ...etc. I know there is Canadian French, Scottish, and Irish blood profusing through my veins.

Mary Papin was my dad's mom. She died very early in his life and I don't have much to go on. Let's talk through Email. Okay? I'm trying to get others to do it, too. We can reach so many people with good information this way. These message boards are hard to come back to sometimes. I'm trying desperately to come up with solid information on her roots.

My cousin Terry has been doing a wonderful job searching the family roots. Unfortunately, we seem to be the only ones in our direct family that are interested. We are having trouble with the spellings of surnames though ... and dates.

My grandmother (dad's side) was Mary Papin, 1st wife of Fredrick Henry Veio. She died very early in my father's childhood and I have next to no information on her. I have a picture of her when she was between 19-25 years of age. My high school picture shows a strong resemblence to her. My father always told me I look like her.

I want so much to find out more. I'm trying to form an Email search group. I'm doing that with three other gals on another Surname search: my diseased husband's mother.

I'm researching Gilbert Papin m. Anastasia Brazeau jan 21, 1856 L'Orignal, ontario, Canada.
Gilbert was b. April 15, 1829 in Lower Canada which is now Ontario. Parents were Medard Papin & Emilie Beaulieu
he had a brother Seraphin Pepin who married in L'Original as well.
any info much aprecciated.

They were said to have had a large family; I have only three children: Jean-Marie, who died an infant;. Joseph-Marie Didier who married Marie-Louise Bourgeois Chouteau on 19 Jan 1779 in St. Louis, MO; and Cornélie who married on the same day in St. Louis, spouse unknown. Can anyone supply additional children of this couple, and the name of Cornélie's husband?

The couple is said to have had 16 children, of whom I have only 5: Pierre Joseph BENJAMIN, and four sisters: Felicite, Marguerite, Marie Julie and Madeleine. My father is Harold Anthony Robedeaux. His mother, Grace Marie Pappin was born 18 May 1890 died 30 April 1948 buried Greenlawn Cemetery, Claremore, Rogers County, Oklahoma.

John and Alexander Bluford Pappin (my great grandfather) parents (my great great parents were:

Alexander LaForce Papin [great great grandfather] (Called LaForce or seen it spelled Lefoss) and Elizabeth Jane Blythe (Called Jennie) [great great grandmother]

Alexander B. Pappin married Mary Colston, their daughter is my grandmother. I have pictures if you need.

I am trying to find some information on Mary Papin. I have been told she had at least one sister named Elizabeth and at leat two brothers named Frank and Peter. Mary was born abt. 1860 and died before 1891. She was married to Frank Lavalley and had six children. Any information would be appreciated.

I have no idea if you have found an answer as your post is fairly old. I live in Baraga Co. Mich. and when we travel to Houghton, MI. we pass a little side road named 'Papin'.
My grandfather who lived most of his life in the U.P. often spoke of a 'Lizzie Papin' whom I believed lived here in Baraga co. as that is where his residence was from the 1930's until his death in 1958.
