I'm sorry 'D' - probably no one can help you. You might include a few facts - the names of your great grandfather and great grandmother - or if you are not sure about those the names of your grandfather and grandmother. There were Parish/Parrish members of my family in Oklahoma shortly after 1900. And any dates would also be helpful.

I might also point out I have records from my great grandfather that show his name as Parish, Parrish, Paris - all on the same page. So looking for 'Parish' will not narrow your search and may eliminate many leads.

Hello Timothy,
I am a Parish with one "R". My great-grandparents came from Texas late 1800's or early 1900's. Word is that they came to Oklahoma so that they could marry. They were cousins, first cousins, and the each left a spouse and children (one of them had six I believe) in Texas. My father died in 1974 at the age of 27. My contact with his family has been limited, and the information even more so. I have not even able to find any record of my father's birth, or census records for him or his six siblings. Any help or information of any kind from anyone, who is or believes that they could be a part of this Parish (Parrish) family, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
D. Parish
(of OK)

Marcus, I have been watching your post in the expectation that somebody else may have responded. I have a half-sister who is Jean Parish but the facts as I have them don't fit with what you have said. She was born in 1931 in Fulham, London. This seems to make it unlikely that she was preganant during WW2. I believe that she married an American in 1953 but have yet to confirm that. I also understand that they moved to the USA but know nothing further. Knowing that family "facts" can get distorted over the years I wonder if there is a possibility of a connection.
I am looking for information on George Parish born about 1830 in Coggeshall Essex, wife Emma ...son of William Parish and wife Susan. George and Emma had a large family of about 12 children. I can locate him in the 1841 census, 1861 census and 1871 census but not after that. When George's son William married in 1875 the occupation of his father George is listed as Horse Trainer. In 1888 when William's sons were put into an orphanage one reason given was because the Paternal grandparents George and Emma were living in Australia ..address and earnings unknown.

If a lineage can be established, I would be willing to pay for the test. I am looking to connect back the US Parrish/Parish/Paris/Parris families to their roots in England. At this point we have at least 5 separate lineages in the US, with no known ties back to England.

If you are interested, you can see the current results here: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/parish/results

Thanks! :)

Katie Rennie
I subscribe to both Parish and Parrish boards. My line is from Goochland Co VA then to MS then Nacogdoches Co around 1860 then to Wood and Rains counties post civil war.

There is a website has Texas death certificate 1890 - 1976 and most census records. It is going to query both spellings automatically and all variations one may think of on spelling Lafayette. My ancestors used two "r's". Mertens is in Hill county, Milford and Palmer in Ellis county.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0

Lafayett Parish born 30 Aug 1852 in Alabama died 25 Dec 1937 at 510 So West 14 St in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto Co.
This family can be found in the 1880 census for Bradley Township, Van Buren Co., Arakansas. Page 34, dwelling 246. D.M., Thomas, and Ruthey aren't on this census entry but the rest are. Andrew PARISH's DOB and birthplace matches your information, however Mary J. PARISH's DOB would be about 1850.

Hope this information helps.
