My husband is related to a Petter Person born 11-27-1802. He had a child with Stina Andersdotter(they were not married.) That child Carolina had a child with Erik Jansson.That child was born in 1857. This child was my husband's grandfather.

She probably changed it after her arrival in the US.

Women did not change their names when they were married back then. They were given their names based on the patrynomic formula: Father's given name +sdotter. This is what makes Swedish genealogy difficult for me. In some ways it's interesting, in others, frustrating:)

Hi everyone,

I am looking information about two Swedish Persdotters.

Pernilla Persdotter, b. 5 Feb 1802. She married Hans Peter Palsson (b. 1 Oct 1802). They had Christina Hansdotter in Oct 1842.

Lena Persdotter b. 13 July 1797. Lena married Jons Brodd and they had Per Brodd in 1835.

Wow, if these dates are all correct, these parents were quite old. Has anyone else noticed this in their own Swedish lines?

I am quite impressed. Have you gotten as far back as 1730's?? I have a relative Brita Caroline Persdotter b. ??? who married my great grandfater Nils Andres Anderson (b. 1862).

You are looking at the same area as I am Varmland, with similar names, except you are 50-100 years before me. I wonder if your research would help me at all. email if you can.

I'm wondering if anyone else is researching this family? My ggg grandparents are Marta Persdotter and Per Persson. I don't have a lot of information yet but what I do know is this: They had a son, my gg grandfather, Johan Persson born June 24, 1850 at Norrbarke Parish, Sweden. Johan married Anna Cajsa Danielsdotter. If you know anything on this family please contact me.

Looking for any info on Anna Greta Persdotter. Married to Johannes Larson. I believe they lived in the early to mid 1800s. Possibly emigrated to Chicago and/or PA. Ten children including my great, great grandmother, Christine who was married to John Monson. Daughter Hilda (Ida) was my great grandmother. She had a twin, Augusta. Hilda's son, Clifford Olson was my grandfather. Any info would be appreciated.

Received this information on Augusta Lindell. I can not confirm this yet. It said Augusta Lindell (Persdotter) Vastra ny parish, emigrated July 21st, 1896 from Vastra ny parish a possible sister Hilma Matilda Lindell (Persdotter) born June 29, 1869 Vastra ny parish and emigrated March 10th 1887. Augusta lived in Jamestown NY once she arrived from Sweden. She died appx. in 1902. She had family in the Rockford Il area. I am looking for anyone that may have a match with the Persdotter name and the same parish information from Sweden that may help me determine if this information is valid. In Sweden was it common to change last names (Persdotter to Lindell)?
