Hi! I have family from Ireland that I am having problems tracking down! My James Prendergast was born around in 1840 in Ireland. He married a Mary who was born around 1841. They had four children, who were born around the world.

Mary Ann was born around 1864 in South Africa.
Helena was born around 1869 in St Helena
Sarah was born around 1873 in the East Indies
Michael was born around 1881 in Leeds, Yorkshire

James and Mary are my great, great, great grandparents. It looks as though James must have been in the Navy or something to have travelled with his family so much. His census of 1881 has him down as a Pensioner +Lab (Genrl) (whatever that means!) In 1881 they lived at 13 Hound street in Leeds, Yorkshire, and James was 41.

I would love to find out more about my Irish heritage.

If anyone can tell me more or has some possible matches I would love to hear from them.
