Odilon Proulx b. 1867 m Lumina ? around 1896, she b. 1870, both b. in Canada, I know the following children Marie Rose Alma b. abt. 6/6/1895, Alfred b. 12/6/1900 and Joseph Arthur b.3/24/1902. The last is my grandfather. Trying to find out what happened to Odilon and Lumina, may have both died young leaving children orphaned, would also like to find out where they were in the early 1900's.

I am looking for anyone who has connections with the family of Hyacinthe Proulx (b. 1801 in St Benoit, Deux Montagnes, Quebec) & Josephte Biord (b. 1803 in Quebec?).

I have found another child that is not listed in the family trees for this couple: Thomas Proulx, b. Oct 1831. (I found his birth record in the Drouin records.) I believe Thomas is the Thomas Proulx who moved to Wisconsin, USA about 1860.

Any confirmation or negation about this connection would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for the marriage of Julie PROULX to Honore NEVEU around 1865 in Quebec Canada. Julie was born in 1841, this is all the information I have on her birth. She died Sept 13, 1910 she committed suicide in a moment of craziness(her death record states). She is buried at St Michel De Saints, Quebec Canada. Julie and Honore had 7 children:
1. Joseph NEVEU who married Malvina RACINE and Cordelia ROBILLARD
2. Marie NEVEU who married Francois-Xavier GOUGER
3. Delia NEVEU who married Alfred ROBILLARD
4. Hedwidge Julie NEVEU who married Joseph LEBEAU
5. Agnes NEVEU who married Anaclet FERLAND
6. Rosanna NEVEU who married Edmond BRULE
7. Damase NEVEU who married Marie Louis JOBIN-BOISVERT

Julie & Honore had properity around St Michel De Saints, We know this because they had a farm that had a cow which was willed to my great-grandmother Hedwidge (their daughter)when her father Honore died. She refused it because she had no room for a cow. It is unknown what happen to the land.

The children mentioned above were married in two different parishes St Zenon and St Michel Des Saints. I have the records of these marriages.

Honore was baptized in St Michel, Yamaska, Quebec Canada. His parents were Antoine NEVEU and Marguerite CHEVALIER.

I have searched the "blue" Drouin books, I have searched all the above mentioned parishes for Honore and Julie's marriage. Unable still to find any record of their marriage. Any help you can provide would be great.
Help! We have been researching our family background and seem to be hitting brick wall after brick wall. My mother's family has always been of the belief that they are from the Olivier Morel de la durantaye line. We are having great difficulty in tracing this line. My ggf was Paul Ladurantaye who married Octavia Dufort. On his marriage reg. his father is listed as J.B. Ladurantaie(aye) and his mother as Adele Proulx. If any one has any information that could confirm (or not)this marriage (Adele and J.B.) plus any ascendents or descendents it would be much appreciated.

What I am looking for is birth records of what I am told were their 16 children. (SIXTEEN!!!). Their youngest child was my ancestor, Joseph Basile PROULX. He was born about 1860. He married Virginie PROULX, a first cousin, once removed, and they immigrated to New Hampshire, US. I am not certain where their marriage took place.

I am hoping to find others with information on Basile PROULX and Adele PARENT, and their sixteen children.

My grandfather, Joseph Leo Proulx, was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, about 1908 (died 1985). He was one of a family of (roughly)15 children born to (I believe) Joseph Louis Proulx, who was born in Quebec, and I'm trying to find out where. Fun fact about my grandfather's family: It was a tradition -- and is this a F-C thing in general? -- that all the boys were named Joseph (middle name) Proulx and then addressed by their middle names. Ergo, my grandfather was Leo. Other brothers (and I don't know them all) included Arthur, Pierre (Pete), Armand, Robert (who is still living, he was the baby and is only a year or two older than my dad, so about 67)... I'm forgetting several others, but I'm hoping there's somebody who might know something about my family branch. Thanks!

I'm looking for a Francis Proulx who married Dorothy Drake. His father's name I believe was also Francis, but went by Frank. He had a brother named Frederick and a cousin named Anna. I really do not have much information on this branch of my family history. Any suggestions would really help.

hey jeffrey, it was good to hear from you. thanks for responding and i hope you and your family are doing well. someone sent me an email and said that when our ancesters immigrated from france to canada that alot of them were illiterate so that when they signed their names a notary signed it like it sounded, prou, but then the notary added a / and then our ancesters signed with an x, so it became prou/x. i dont know if its true but it is interesting. its good to hear from relatives up there so email me whenever you can.

Proulx surname

HI My name is Yvan Robillard and i'm Proulx on my mother side. Most of the Proulx descend from Jean-Baptiste Prou and Catherine Pinel.
The origin of the name is French and it used to be be Prou when they arrived in Canada. If you correspond with Proulx's in France, they tell you that there is NO Proulx.(with the lx) in France; it is strictly Canadian.

The theory advanced by some peoples is that the original Prou did not know how to write and when they went to notary public for a contract; the notary would write the name
Prou with " /" (slash) and then Prou would make his mark
usually "X"
Thus Prou became Proulx.
At least, that's what the theory says.
If you go to the Tanguay Genelogical Dictionary, you will find Prou until almost the 3td generation with some Proulx mixed up.
I have never seen Proulex. yours is the first time.
Hope this answer some of your question
