My great great aunt, Selina Kavanagh, married William Purcell on the 13th February 1906 in Manhattan. I don't know anything about him but Selina was born in Dublin, Ireland and was a governess in Paris. How and why she ended up in New York I don't know. I wonder if they lived there for a while or whether they only got married there and moved. Does anyone know if I could find out this information?

I also know that ten years later, in 1916, Selina got married again in London to an Englishman. What happened to William Purcell?

My great aunt Josephine Purcell emigrated to New Jersey in the early part of last century and mother was born there in 1918, my grandparents moved back to the UK in the 1920's. I sincerely hope this has helped you locate some of your relatives from the Ga. Area. I also have newspaper clippings of the homeplace in Ga. and a photo of a woven chair that was made by Elisha W. or Jacob Sr. but am not sure at this time.

My great, great, great grandfather was Clement W. Purcell, born in 1805, in Shelby, Kentucky. In 1832, he married Julia Ann Smith, they had 11 children. He was a private in the 43rd Indiana Regiment during the Civil War, and died in 1865 in Indianapolis.

I am looking for Purcells in Brooklyn around 1900. MIchael Purcell appears in the Brooklyn City Directory 1900 at 689 Wythe Avenue.
Am also looking for Mary Purcell, widow of James Purcell and mother of James, Joseph, Mary and Elizabeth. I even have an address for them in 1900: 556 17th St. She moved the next year to 523 7th Ave. Mary Purcell is incorrectly indexed in the 1900 Census as "Parcell."

John Purcell's will dated March 19, 1797 (Richmond Co, VA), names his daughters Margaret Thrift and Sarah Goldsby & sons Edward M, George, William, Reuben, & Benjamin.

Which Thrift did Margaret Purssell marry, and who are their descendants?

I'm wondering if she was the Margaret Thrift who was wife of William Thrift (b. 1742), the progenitors of the Thrifts in Gloucester Co? This seems very reasonable. Can it be verified, or was she married to a different Thrift?

(It has been stated without documentation that this William's wife was Margaret Garland, but I haven't found any support for that.)

Also, if anyone can help me work out the details of Thrifts in Gloucester Co, VA before ~1840, please contact me at rtx at cox dot net.

Researching Daniel Purcell and wife Keziah in Hampshire County, VA by at least 1754. Later in Frederick (Allegany) County, MD.

Children: John b. 1730-1736, Dennis b.1740-1744 married to Susanna, James married to Elizabeth and Thomas b. abt 1750 married to Elenor Sullivan. Dennis, James and Thomas Purcell moved to Nelson County, Ky area about 1780.

Thomas Purcell obtained 400 acres in Bullitt County, Kentucky.

We're looking for any information about EDWARD (1) PURCELL, born about 1760 in Thurles, Tipperary, Ireland. He married Dorothy Chartres abt 1780 in Ireland. Their son was EDWARD (2) PURCELL, born about 1790 in Ireland. He married Anne Harkness. Their son EDWARD (3) BARKER PURCELL was born 1820 in London and died 1880 in Brooklyn, New York.

I am trying to trace the family tree of my great x 4 Grandfather William Purcell. He was the Senior Warrant Officer and a loyal crew member of Capt Bligh on board HMS BOUNTY. He was one of the 16 loyal crew who made the infamous jouney from the South Pacific to Timor. William was born in England and died on the 10/03/1834 in Portsmouth England. He had 5 or 6 children including twin sons, one of the twins Charles Purcell migrated to Australia and died in Adelong on the 25/11/1891. Charles is whom I am decendant. Any info would be way cool.

He married twice to ladies that were cousins to each other. He married his first wife 8/16/1848 Mary Ann Childress in Lawrence, IL. She died 1851. He married his second wife Eliza Emaline Childress on 5/1/1852 in Lawrence, IL. Alexander died 3/3/1857 in Lawrence, IL. I have a family bio which states that my family( Balthis) travelled down the Ohio river on a flatboat in 1787 to Louisville and overland to Vicennes Indiana Knox County. Among the emigrants on the boat were the Jonathon and William Purcell families. My maternal gggg-grandmother Sarah Balthis was eight years old at the time of this trip.

Looking for ancestors of John Purcell born 1834 in Thomastown, emigrated to NZ in 1860. Father was Patrick Purcell born Stonyford, Ireland, and mother was Mary Duggan (Dugan). John Purcell had a brother called Dennis born 1843, who also came to NZ, but moved back to Ireland and died in Stonyford in 1917. Michael's parents were (to the best of my knowledge) Michael Purcell and Bridget Mahoney, but I have no dates or places of birth for either.

Michael had at least one child, my gg-grandfather born 1840 in Glennies Creek, NSW, Australia and died 30 May 1887 in Guyra, NSW. He married Mary Ann O'Brien (1846 - 1938) in 1865.

At the time of the census of 1840, Wiley Cook, their son was too young to be married. Neither Wiley nor his father were listed on the census. On the census of 1850, Wiley is found in Floyd County, KY as a newlywed.

In a couple of postings, I have seen his death listed as 1860 in Magoffin,KY. Does anyone know if this is correct? Does anyone know if the Cooks were a family all this time?

I am a descendant of their youngest son, Miles Cook and Marinda (Rindy) Jane Purcell. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Floyd was the brother of my GGgrandmother Marinda Jane Purcell. He served in the same regiment (Kentucky 24th) as my GGgrandfather, Miles Cook
I can't find him after his service in the civil war (1861-1862). I found an FW Purcell dod 3/3/1863. I wonder if he might be my Floyd Wesley.
