I am trying to research my ancestor samuel purdy, who was born in Yarmouth around 1830 to parents henry and abigail or elizabeth purdy nee shortcliff. I am of the understanding that the yarmouth purdy's are'nt part of the bigger purdy line. There was apparently a purdy from british columbia at last years reunion, looking for purdy's from Yarmouth. I am trying to get hold of someone with more info on him at the moment. I would love to hear from you to see if we are from the same line. My samuel left nova scotia approx 1850 bound for australia. He lists his father as a captain of ship. We also know from family stories that he was from a seafaring family.
