My father was born in Shelburne NS in 1911. He still has two sisters living (in Sydney Mines and Newfoundland) and countless cousins. My grandfather was Frederick Purdy and My Grandmother was Katherine (don't know what her last name was) I need info on my family also. Elmer moved to Boston, Mass in 1929 and married my mother.

My father came from NS to Boston in 1929 and then married my mother, Helen Hommel. His father was Frederick Purdy and my Grandmother was Katherine. They were from Shelburne

I am starting the Purdy family history. I cannot find any information on my great grandfather Leonard Arthur Purdy. He is the son of Charles Henry Purdy and Mary Durada Ferro. If anyone has information on any of these three people, please contact me. Also, any suggestions, comments, or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I am tracing Harvey Stillman Norton. He keeps
showing up with Harry [Henry?] Purdy, of
Palatine, Cook County, IL. It appears* that the
ancestors of both Harvey and Henry came from
Onondaga NY area [Spafford?]. Harvey was born in
Spafford, Onondaga NY in 1828. He visited Harry
Purdy in 1854 and again in 1862, at Palatine,
Cook County, IL. I cannot help but note your post
about a Stillman Purdy. I have been trying to find
Stillmans and Purdy...hope you will get in touch.

Your postings provide me with hope we share some common Purdy ancestors.
In 1888 Mrs Walter Purdy resided in Cook Co IL. Her maiden name was Minerva Hall born 1816, Genesee Co NY, the daughter of Loammi and Sarah Hall earlier of Spafford Onondaga Co NY.
Minerva was a widow by 1888. Living in Cook Co IL was a son John Purdy and daughter Mary M who is believed to have married William Masters in 1887.

Walter Purdy born in VT about 1804 is listed with Minerva and Mary in the 1850 Perry twp Wyoming Co NY census. The family in untraced until 1888.

I would appreciate hearing from you at this site or by private message at ednorahall@aol.com if you beleive there is some relationship between your Purdy and my Purdy. It is known a brother of Minerva was living at Niles, Cook Co IL (SE of Palantine) in 1888.
