I don't know anything about Native American blood in the family tree, although anything is certainly possible, but there is proof that there are Eskimo ties to the family. There is a book titled "Tisha" about a 19-year-old schoolteacher who goes to Alaska in the 1920's and meets a Purdy family in Chicken, Alaska. The father is white, I presume, but Mrs. Purdy was definitely Eskimo. Anyway, the romance between the schoolteacher and the Purdy son is the main story of the biography. An excellent book, even if I don't happen to trace my line through them!

Do you have a date of birth on Charles Purdy? My Great Great Grandfather Charles Henry Purdy was from Nova Scotia. He was born in 1857. In 1900 he was living in Hawaii with his wife Mary Ferera (from San Miguel, Azores). They had three children Leonard Arthur Purdy b. 1892, Charles Henry Purdy Jr. b. 1984 Mary E. Purdy b. 1896. Does this information help any?

I have Gabriel Purdy, of Westchester. He had Had Jacob, Gabriel Henry ca.1780? His father may have been Gilbert who married Sarah Knight? Does any of this aggree with yours?

Gabriel was supposedly married five times and fathered seventeen children: Mary, Peter, Charity, Jacob, Henry, Gabriel, David, Phebe, Gilbert, Melissa, Esther, John R., Samuel, Lavinia, plus 3 unnamed.

The Gabriel (b. 1755) who had Jacob, Henry and Gabriel married Esther Angevine (one of three wives) and lived after the Rev. War in Cumberland County Nova Scotia. He was son of Samuel Purdy and Winifred Griffen. The Gilbert (b.1797) who married Sarah Knight was Gabriel's (above) son. Gilbert and Sarah had a son Gabriel, who married Jane Giles and had at least 7 children. Hope this helps.
