I am looking for information beginning with my ggrandfather. I believe his name was Robert Purtill and he emigrated to LaSalette, Ontario abt 1840 from Co Limerick, Ireland. I believe he was born abt 1808. I have a picture of the entire family taken around 1900.

My father was born a Purtill. However, in the days when records were hand written the 'i' looked like an 'e', so we became Purtell.

Family Records for James and Bridget McGrath Purtell

I have written records for the marriage of James Purtell and Bridget McGrath that were found at our library sale. The pages are worn and torn, but readable. The records include the births of their 9 children and the early deaths of 2 of the children. The couple was married in Binghamton, NY in 1857. I would like to pass on this information to anyone interested.

I am trying to find information for a friend, about her father's family. She hardly has any information because she hardly ever had contact with him. She knows that his name was Leroy Purtell, he had a brother William(Bill) & two sisters.
That is basically all that she knows. My friend's name is Joan & is in her late 50's to give you an idea what age her father would be. Any information would really be appreciated.
Thank You, Donna Shields

She was born about 1897 in Glenwillard, Pennsylvania (Allegheny County) and may have died in 1957 or 1958. She married a Mr. Park who later died (?) and then married my grandfather Walter Opie Bailey. They had 2 sons, Walter Opie Bailey Jr. (my dad) and Jimmy Bailey. They lived in Baden, PA (Beaver County). Walter Opie Bailey was born in Greenville Tennessee about 1903.
I have not been able to gain any information on my grandparents at all, and am looking for any one who may be familiar with these names and can fill me in on some more facts.
I am seeking information on my great
grandfather James Hobart Purtell. I believe
he was American, born pre-1880, possibly with
connections in Atlanta or New York. By 1900
he was married to Minnie Smith and living in
Liverpool, England (although I think they
divorced c.1911). My grandmother, Minnie
Smith Purtell was born in 1900. James Hobart
Purtell is listed on her marriage cerificate
as 'father', occupation - 'stock-broker'.
Does anyone know any more?
