Dear Donna--Your prompt replies gave me just enough clues to pretty well confirm that Ettie (Quin) Brown was, indeed, Esther Quin, 5th child of John H. and Hannah Quin. The clincher was when I found -Anna Quinn, age 64, born in N.J., mother-in-law, staying with Isaac and Esther Brown and children, in Edwardsville, Illinios, in the 1880 census. I know that John H. Quin died in Edwardsville less than a year later. But where was he in 1880? I believe he was visiting Esther's sister, Charlotte Adams, in Colorado. (Again, via the 1880 census info) As to the Osborn name, I have not found any link yet, other than the possibility that Hannah/Anna Quin may have been an Osburn prior to her marriage. Do you have a death date and place for Esther Quin Brown? And her husband, Isaac? In 1880, he was 37 yrs old, and a school teacher. Did they stay in Edwardsville until he passed away? In 1870, the Brown family was in Central TWP, Jefferson CO., MO, where Isaac was again teaching school. I haven't looked at the picture site you mentioned, but do intend to do so. I have a picture of Esther's brother, James Norvall, that I can scan, if you would like. By the way, what did the "L" initial in Esther's name stand for, do you know? Look forward to exchanging further info--
