MICHAEL QUINN

I am looking for any information that may lead me to an ancester. I am not sure whether or not if this will lead me anywhere but I am looking for anything anyone can provide to me.

Michael Quinn born in Ireland and came to American presumably with a Catharine Fogelty (maiden name). I think that at the time of their crossing the two were married.

I know that Catharine remarried to a Patrick McCarthy in 1854 in Scott County, Indiana and then married again in 1857 to a John Berry also in Scott County, Indiana.

My father and I believe that her first two sons John Quinn and James Quinn were from the marriage between her and Michael Quinn. She had more children in the other 2 marriages.

Any information that anyone is able to provide may lead me in a new direction where I can find more information.

Thanks to anyone who posts or reads this forum. I appreciate it immensely.

Jennifer Quinn
Jack" helped thousands of families who suffered the loss of a loved one, and made sure whether they were the mayor, a Bishop or and individual with no real family that they all received the same dignity and respect that everyone deserves.
Quinn Jr., John J. In 1988 Jack took on a partner, William Lyden, to help insure that the Quinn funeral Home continued operation into its second century of service. Jack was extremely proud of the city of Erie and gave back to the community by being active on several Boards and organizations. Jack held memberships in the University Club, Aviation Club, Erie Maennerchor, and the Danish Club. Professionally he belonged to the Erie County, Pennsylvania, and National Funeral Director Associations. Because of his involvement in community and his church, Jack was in the first group installed as Knights and Ladies of St. Patrick which was started by the late Fr. Matthew Daly and Bishop Michael J. Murphy in 1978. Jack also belonged to the Erie Yacht club and was an avid boater, he loved to watch the development of Erie’s bayfront as well as its changing skyline.
Besides his parents,
Jack was preceded in death by his two wives; Janet Robinson Quinn, the mother of his children,
and Cynthia Hommes Quinn.
He was also preceded by a sister, Harriet Marie Gurska.
Jack is survived by two sons, John M. Quinn of Boulder, Colo. and Kevin J. Quinn of Erie;
along with four daughters, Colleen Breene and her husband Thomas of Oil City;
Susan Quinn Amendola and her husband Robert Amendola of Erie; Sheila Quinn and her husband James Powers of Cape Coral, Fla.;
and Janet M. Jack’s favorite phrase no matter if you were having a great day or a bad one was ~ ~Always keep smiling”
Friends are invited to call at the John J.
Have just received confirmed information that my Grandfather Anthony Bernard Sweeney was from County Donegal.
Anthony B. Sweeney , born 11 April 1852. His brother, Edward Daniel Sweeney, born 16 April 1849..Know of one sister, Sarah Sweeney, born ?....The father was John Sweeney and wife, Bridget (Sweeney)or (Donoghue?)Not sure!
Edward left Ireland in 1869...Anthony abt. 1874....My letter mentions a Thomas Quinn who also was from Donegal and knew the Sweeney's back in Ireland...The wife of Thomas Quinn, her maiden name was Slevin....One of the descendants from the Quinns(A Catholic Nun from Arkansas) was in Donegal in the early 1970's and stayed with some cousins...I do not know if there were Quinn's or maybe they were Slevin's...Perhaps the relatives of the Quinn's or Slevin's may see this and contact me...or maybe someone else knows of any information about the Sweeney's, the Quinn's or the Slevin's, Please contact me. Your help will be grateful.

I am trying to find more info on Wm Henry's 3rd wife who I believe had been previously married to a Goddard. On her marr lic it refers to her as Mrs. So thinking Quinn was her maiden name and she might have been a widow of an Unk Goddard. They md 1908 and she was in her 60s so doubt any children were born. A W and Maria J (Coulter) Goddard
signed off on the marr lic also so just not sure if they were her inlaws or parents. A bit confusing. Wm Henry's parents also signed on the lic. I would like to find when she died as have not found later census on them. Also if she was a birth Quinn and who her parents might be.
Any information would be helpful. Lillian and Olie were born in Ross Kentucky but I don't know when. I would like to find out who the parents or siblings are to Bill West, Patrick Quinn, or the Apple twins.
Thank you, Margrette

Please help me...Quinn descendant of Cohen???

I recently started doing a family tree. The farthest back I can get is my mother's mother's mother (great-grandmother), who's maiden name was Ellen Quinn, then married a Hughes. She lived in Glasgow, Scotland.

I have a friend who knows one of my life dreams is to go to Israel and he is a little bit of an expert at Jewish names. He and I were recently talking about our Scottish heritage and Quinn came up. He told me that Quinn (root: Cuinn) came from Jewish people, with the last name Cohen (kohen being Hebrew and Gaelic for preist), who immigrated to Ireland and Scotland and changed their name to Cuinn (also Gaelic for preist) and all of the variations.

Does any one know about this or can verify it??? PLEASE???

Thanks so much!
~Amber

Would anyone have any information on Henry Quinn, born in Ireland's County Clare (I believe they lived in the area of the Quinn Abbey), and who immigrated to Andover (Ballardvale) Mass in 1868. His wife was, I believe, Ann Melia. Their son William F., who was 8 when they came over, married Annie Theresa Coyle. I am also looking for her family information - she was born in 1861 in the Andover area after her parents John and Ann immigrated.
Thanks,
faye

Information has been found that may help link some of us together. This came from a relative who grew up in the Ballintra area.

In the 1800's, there were 3 Quinn families living in Ballintra. They were all related to each other. One family, the Daniel Quinn family, was forced from their farm and forced to live on another farm, located in Lisnapaste (or Ballinakillew). This land was located at the top of the street in Ballintra.

Today, the Church of Ireland stands on this land. The church is around 200 years old, so that would put the Quinn family there right at 1800.

Some names in this family: Daniel Quinn, born right around 1800. Married Mary Flannagan from Lough Eske. They married when Daniel was in his 60's and Mary was only 21. They had 10 children.

Other names for this family: Andrew, Bernard, Lawrence, Cormack.

Anything?

Patty Quinn

My GGGGrandfather and GGGGrandmother were Michael Quinn and Ann Dempsey Quinn. They were both born about 1825 in Ireland and emmigrated to Carbondale, Pennsylvania in 1850. They had a one year old son Thomas when they left Ireland and had 7 other children once they settled in Carbondale. I am trying to nail down where they came from in Ireland. Family legend says Cork or Mayo...they may be right or it could be somewhere else. I beleive Ann Quinn's parents were Edward Dempsey and Sarah Keating. They probably stayed in Ireland from what I can tell....any information is most welcome, I am at seanquinn@rocketmail.com

John. J. QUINN married Mary CUNNINGHAM and had at least two children: Emma Bernadine and Minnie. The parents of John were Jeremiah QUINN and Mary GLANCY. I do not have dates of birth or marriages for these people, but their daughter, Emma Bernadine, was born in March of 1873 in Brooklyn, New York, and died 23 Feb 1942, in Flushing, New York. I will post her obituary in a separate message.

John and Mary are my husband's g-g-grandparents through his g-grandmother Emma Bernadine QUINN who married George Joseph GOUBEAUD. A daughter, Muriel Regina GOUBEAUD married Lucien Charles RONDOT Jr., my husband's grandparents. All lived in the Queens, Kings, and Long Island areas of New York circa 1850s to present.

Thanks for any help,
Carolyne Gould-Rondot

Any information on the family would appreciated.

I'm looking for Anna M. Quinn b. 1881 England, arrived 1885 to US. I don't know parents or relatives names, only that she married twice--first to and unknown Murphy from Pennsylvania around 1899. This resulted in three sons, George E. Murphy b. 1900, R. Emmett Murphy b. 1902, and Richard Thomas Murphy b. 30 Jan 1905. All were born in WA DC. The husband left or died suddenly since she is remarried in 1906 to Thomas Richard Casey b. 1869 Canada (Irish). The first three sons names were change to Casey and she had three additional sons Chester J b. 1910 Id, Vincent b. 1912 Id, and Thomas b. 1914 Nev. I'd really like to know who her relatives where and also the unnamed Murphy husband. I've scoured the 1900 census and there is one questionable ship record, but nothing to hand my hat on.

QUINN brothers: William Patrick, John Edward, & Thomas James

Hoping to trace the movements of these three brothers after 1891, all of whom were born at Winchester in Hampshire, England:
- William Patrick Quinn, born c1875,
- John Edward Quinn, born c1880, and
- Thomas James, born c1884.
Last sighting of them was in the 1891 England census, when they were living with their parents, Patrick & Mary Ann, and their sister, Margaret Matilda.
The boys' father, Patrick QUINN, was born c1837 in County Clare, Ireland. He was a soldier in the British Army. Patrick died at Winchester in 1898 when he was 61.
In 1873 when Patrick was 36, he married Mary Ann HUGGINS (1839-1902). Mary Ann was born at Windsor, to Irish parents: John Joseph Huggins (1816-1876) of Caledon in County Tyrone, and Margaret Jane Burke (1823-1898) of County Kerry.
The three brothers are nowhere-to-be-found in the 1901 England census. While, perhaps, the 1911 census (when it becomes available in 2011) will help trace them, perhaps this posting will be of interest to QUINN descendants of these young men.
Regards,
Alison Causton

Stephen Quinn from New York City

My ancestor May Seebeck (b. 5-24-1906 and d. Feb 1978) married Stephen Quinn (b. about 1906). I believe they were married about 1928, probably in New York City. The 1930 US Census shows them living on West 47th Street in Manhattan, with daughter Rose Quinn b. about 1925-26, and son Stephen Quinn b. about 1928).

I am trying to locate any living descendents of these people who are related to me. If you think that you might be, please respond to this posting or contact me. Thank you.

North Carolina and Effa (Effey) Raper born about 1820? Jesse is buried in Riley Lamm Cemetery in Miller Co. Missouri. His siblings were Kenneth, Homer, Metta (Harlow), and Tressie (Nichols.)
