I am looking for the branches of the Register/Strange side of my ancestry. My father, Joseph Roger Register (living - Sebring, FL)was one of the youngest of at least 8 children born to Ira Register and his wife Edna Strange. The family lived in N. Florida, probably in the Lake City/Liveoak area. Other children included:
John Ira - deceased - married to Minnie (still living, Sebring, FL); Abner (deceased) - married to Alice (deceased), lived in Ft. Worth, FL area and had 9 children, last one born after 1950, mostly redheads; James (deceased at early age, never knew him); Catherine (May be living in Branford area, or may be deceased now); Anita (lived in CA last I heard); Sammie (deceased); one younger sister died in early childhood. I would like to get in touch with anyone who has information about or may be a relative of any of the people mentioned above. Thank you!

Eileen there is a wonderful book "The Other Florida" (by Gloria Jahoda)in libraries in FL and in Chapter 11 it tells of some Register's in North Florida. It is not a book of Genealogy, but the writer interviewed two Register men, cousins, Yancey Register and Council Register. Council said they had large families, but didn't give any names (darn it!) but there are beautifully descriptive paragraphs and quotes by these men about that area of FL. Council stated "I had me parents and a good home. But Yancey's folks died when he was about ten." "..his daddy was killed in a sawmill accident, and his mother just plumb worried herself into the grave over feedin' her flock of kids. Hi Eileen, I am Catherine's granddaughter. She passed away in Nov. of 1999. I saw Aunt Edie (the youngest living child) and Aunt Juanita in Jan. of this year.

eileen, i am brian overstreet, my abney was my grandfather. i am betty jo's son. abney's youngest is fidelas and she lives on lake santa fe near gainsville. i have some info, but am always looking for family members to help continue the search.

My father's name was Ira Daniel Register born Sept 21, 1926 in Columbus, GA to Thomas Allen Register. His Grandfather's name was Ira Daniel Register from Graceville, FL.
