Seeking information on my g-grandfather THOMAS REIDY married Mary Ager/Egar 1857 in Castleisland. They had the following children: John b 1874. Michael b 1879. Michael married Nora Donoghue of Loughfouder Knocknagoshel 1906. Jimmy married a Caterine Mahony. All of these stayed in Ireland. They had more children who went to America. Ellen b 1868. Martin b.1864.
Nora b 1860. and Edward.I seem to have a problem with Edward Reidy as he was born 1885 which is a 20 year gap between himself and his siblings. I do know he is our Edward Reidy.
Im now wondering if anyone knows how many Ager/Egar and Reidy families lived in Castleisland in the 1800s or can anyone help solve the puzzle?

I am looking for Patrick Reidy (born 1950??)or related family. They lived in the San Francisco Bay area near Prospect High School and San Jose in the late 60's and early 70's and seemed to vanish off the radar. My Mother lost track of them and there are so many Reidy variations out there that my history has been difficult to thread together. Please let me know if you might know of any related Reidy family members from the San Jose area. Thank you!

Wife Ellen Quinlivan Reidy and much of the family moved to NJ in 1901 after the death of husband/father Michael Reidy.
My Reidys share the first names of John Patrick James and
Thomas with names I've seen for Chemung Reidys.
Many of my Reidy men were railroaders with the Lehigh Valley RR, Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR, and NJ Central - right up to recent times.

Other surnames in family are Quinlivan and Doohan.

Too many similarities not to be related!

M. Reidy of Chippewa county, Michigan in 1892

September 17, 1892 Page 1
A Strange Killing.
Mrs. Dalton Shoots James Wice Dead at Her Doorway

Saturday Night.
Another killing affray was added to Chippewa county's annals of tragedies shortly after 8 o'clock last Saturday evening, when Mrs. Mary Dalton shot down James Wice, at the door of her home, in the western part of the city. Wice was shot in the left eye, with a revolver bullet, the ball passing clear through the head, causing instant death.

One story runs about as follows: James Wice, a hard working man who lived with his wife at Raber and who was employed in the mill of Feltus & Treadwell, came to this city on the Faxton last Saturday evening in search of a woman to accompany him home to take care of his sick wife.

Mrs. Harriet McIntyre was recommended and he started out to find her. Shortly after 7 o'clock he called at M. Reidy's grocery store, corner Magazine and Spruce Sts. and asked Mr. Reidy to direct him to Mrs. McIntyre's house, which is located in that part of the city. He was shown the way, but the night was very dark and a dreary rain was falling at the time Wice made a mistake and knocked at the door of the Dalton house, and was shot by Mrs. Dalton.

This occurred about 8 o'clock, Abram Dalton, the husband, said to The News that he was down town at the time and returned home shortly before 9 o'clock. He was told by his wife that she had shot at some one three times, but did not know whether she hit him or not. Dalton said he than retired, and did not see the dead man until 6 o'clock Sunday morning.

At 7 o'clock Sunday morning Dalton went to the home of Officer David Ellis and informed him of the affair, and requested Mr. Ellis to remove the body, as he did not care to have it so close to his house. The dead body laid with upturned face and outstretched arms all night long and until almost noon next day in a torrent of rain when, by order of Coroner Bacon, it was removed to Blake's morgue.

Mrs. Dalton was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Lessard. She was taken before Justice Warner Wednesday morning,.... The murdered man was 30 years of age, and is said to have been a quiet, sober and industrious man. He married a daughter of Andrew J. Smith two years ago, who with one child, survives him.

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Newspaper Birth, Marriage and Death Notices." The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ewjmartin/deat1887...

DNA testing for REIDY

My surname was originally Reidy. DNA testing for my paternal line was recently completed by familytreedna.com. Results are available at www.ysearch.org: 'search by last name'; enter 'Reidy'; my data is there.

Any male with a direct Reidy/Riedy line might match mine and we could all get a good idea what part of the island our common ancestor came from, and how closely we're all related. I wouldn't bother with anything below the 37 marker test. Females interested in this must use a brother, father, uncle, or male Reidy cousin.

My line is in some way related to the Salmans/Salmons family. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Wife Ellen Quinlivan Reidy and much of the family moved to NJ in 1901 after the death of husband/father Michael Reidy.
My Reidys share the first names of John Patrick James and
Thomas with names I've seen for Chemung Reidys.
Many of my Reidy men were railroaders with the Lehigh Valley RR, Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR, and NJ Central - right up to recent times.

Other surnames in family are Quinlivan and Doohan.

Too many similarities not to be related!

I have a Susannah Reedy/Redy that I can't place anywhere and I'm hoping for some help.
She is on the 1850 census for Auburn Twn. Fairfield Co., OH with her (second) husband, Peter Leffler and two daughters from her first marriage Elizabeth Redy b. abt 1832 in OH and Susan Redy, born abt 1830 in OH.
According to that census, Susannah was born in VA abt 1795. I found the marriage records for Susan and Peter, 6/11/1843 Fairfield Co., OH. She would have been about 48 when she married Peter Leffler and he was about 71.
I'm wondering who this Susan belongs to. There is also a Silas Redy/Reedy living close by young enough to be a child of Susan's by an earlier marriage too. This Silas married a Rebecca Leffler, daughter of Johnathan Leffler and Barbara nee Heidlebaugh, also living close by on the 1850 census.
Any help with this Susan's first husband, her parents or siblings would be greatly appreciated.
Becki Blair
beckiblair@hotmail.com

My Ready Ancestor Disappeared!

My great-great- grandfather was Levi Ready (sometimes Reedy). He was born about 1850 in Tennessee, but migrated very early in life to Maries County MO. He married and had 3 children. When he was about 25 years old, he left Maries County - never to be heard from or seen again - so the story goes.
I have found nothing in Maries County to show that foul play was suspected. I have not been able to locate him anywhere after 1874. I am looking for anybody who may have an ancestor that just 'appeared' on the scene about 1874 or later. He may have changed his name - then I will probably never get it figured out. But if he went by his last name or something close to it - Ready, Reedy, Readdy, Reade, Readey, etc, it may be possible to figure it out.
If he didn't go by Levi, he may have went by Isaac, Thomas, Richard, Robert, Perry, or Henry.
Thanks!

Searching for connections to my relative James Reidy. He was born about February, 1839 in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. When he enlisted in the British Army at age 15 1/2 years he gave his trade as Tailor. His father was David Reidy, also a tailor by trade. We would appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to connect them to more family.

My grandmother was Honora Reidy, from Elmira NY. She was born in 1893, and married to Harry Evans in 1915. They had 3 children. He disappeared around 1925. She later met my grandfather, John Clarence Wagner, and had 4 more children. They ended up in Utica, NY, where she died in 1947. I am trying to find out where her family came from in Ireland, and any other info about her or the family. I have never seen a picture of my grandmother. If anyone knows of a picture, that would be greatly appreciated.

The Arner Family Association seeks descendants of:

EMMA M. REIDY, James Peter Arner, 1851-____, Upper Macungie; North Whitehall; Allentown, Lehigh, PA.

You are almost certainly descendants of Hans Ulrich Arner and Verena Eberhard, 1735 immigrants from Switzerland to Philadelphia. Join us for an August 24-25, 2002 gathering in beautiful Lehigh County, Pennsylvania (1 hour north of Philadelphia). For “reunion” information or to see where you fit into the *rner family, visit Joe Erner’s website at www.geocities.com/~erner/gen/arner which documents the Arner/Aner family to the 1500s, or contact us through the Arner Listserv at ARNER-L@rootsweb.com. We’re planning two fun-filled days including a catered Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon and the dedication of a memorial stone in the Heidelberg Union Church cemetery to honor the immigrants. Help us widen our circle of cyber-cousins and plan to attend. We welcome you.
My ancestor, Margaret Reidy was thought to have been baptised in Mahoonagh in 1828. She was the youngest of 7 children. Parents were John Reidy and Catherine Hartney. I am hoping this info will connect with someone else and I can exchange info with them.
Michael and Margaret Reidy were found in the 1901 census of Limerick but I have not been able find any other details such as when or where they died.

Patrick Reidy Ireland>Ohio>Toronto

Am looking for a place of origin for Patrick Reidy. All information I have is as follows:

Patrick Reidy born circa 1817 in Ireland. Married Bridget Walker or Warde (both names show up on two different marriage certificates for daughters.) Lived in Ohio for awhile as my greatgrandmother Catherine was born there according to her marriage Certificate. 1871 census for Toronto shows Patrick Reidy aged 54 born Ireland. Bridget Reidy aged 53 born Ireland. Patrick aged 16 born Ontario, Catherine aged 15 born Ontario. Mary aged 13 born Ontario, Bridget aged 11 born Ontario, James aged 9 born Ontario, and Daniel aged 6 born Ontario.
The 1881 census shows Patrick Reidy aged 64 born Ireland, Bridget Reidy aged 64 born Ireland, Catherine aged 25 born U.S., Mary aged 22 born Ontario, Richard aged 17 born Ontario, Daniel aged 14 born Ontario.
According to Catherines marriage certificate and death certificate she was born in Ohio between 1856 and 1858.
I have the following deaths for Reidy's in Toronto.
Patrick Reidy died Feb. 1, 1894 aged 70 years.
Bridget Reidy died August 8, 1890 aged 75 years.
Daniel Ready died April 17, 1887 aged 22 years 3 months.
Rose Ready died Sept. 21, 1895 aged 55 years.
Thomas Ready died December 22, 1909 aged 85 years.
Bridget Ready died August 28, 1900 aged 70 years.
John Ready died December 8, 1908 aged 28 years.
Patrick Reiddy died November 27, 1877 aged 23 years.
As all of these Reidy's are buried very close to each other both I and the cemetery people feel that they are all related somehow.
Catherine Reidy married Owen O'Neill April 13, 1885 in Toronto.
Mary Ann Reidy married George Jackman August 8, 1898 in Toronto.
All of the Reidy's are Roman Catholic.
Any information you may have on place of origin for Patrick and Bridget would be extremely helpful. If you are descended from any of Catherine's siblings I would love to hear from you.
Please contact me at bassh@netrover.com

Looking for information on Patrick Reidy married Bridget Walker. Both from Ireland place unknown, both born circa 1817. Were in Ohio circa 1856-1858 as they had Catherine born there. Next child born in 1859 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Parents were 39 when Catherine born, leads me to think there may be older children born in Ireland or U.S. Cannot either confirm or deny this idea. Family were all Roman Catholic.

I am looking for information on the following people.

Catherine Reidy born in Ohio in 1856 according to 1881 census for Ontario, or Sept. 8, 1858 according to death certificate and marriage entry in church. Her parents were PATRICK REIDY AND BRIDGET WARDE OR WALKER. Both parents born in Ireland, circa 1840 according to 1881 census. I would like to know if there were any other children born before Catherine. There were three born after Catherine all in Ontario, Canada.
I do not know when they came to the U.S. I do know that they came to Canada after Catherine's birth and before the next child was born circ 1859. Any information would be helpful. You can contact me directly at bassh@netrover.com

Reidys from Co. Tipperary

Looking for any Reidy from Co. Tipperary, IRE, especially in the Clonmel area. My g-grandfather, James Huntington Reidy was born in Clonmel in 1838 to James and Mary Egan Reidy. James was Mary's only child; she died when he was just a tot. James Sr. may have remarried and had other children. Reidy is not a common name in Clonmel; most Reidys seem to be concentrated in Co. Clare and Co. Kerry.

I'm looking for information about the Irish roots and family of Catherine Reidy, who was born abt. 1840 in Kerry County, Ireland, and emigrated from Ireland in 1855. I believe her father's name was Daniel. Thanks. Jim
jim040@hotmail.com

origins of Elizabeth Mary Cecilia Fitzgerald Reidy, Petersburg?

I am searching for information about parents, other family members of Elizabeth Mary Cecilia Fitzgerald Reidy, believed born in/around Petersburg, VA, probably 1870's. She travelled to Australia (1890's?), married there, and probably never returned, as she died there around 1910.
