Henry, Noah, William Henry, Daniel, Va. Reynolds

I have found info on a Rev. Henry Reynolds performing marriage ceremonies in Washington Co. Va. from 1780's thru 1822. I am hoping that he is the father of the following:

Noah Milburn Reynolds b. Russell Co. Va. 1808
William Henry b. Russell 1815
Daniel b. 1823

There could be other siblings or these 3 may not all be related. However, I do believe that William Henry is a brother to Noah. He is listed in the 1850 Census for Letcher Co. He has a son named Noah. Noah named his first son William Henry.

In addition, William Henry in the 1850 census has an older lady by the name of Sally Pippin Reynolds living with him. I have death records for her that state that she was the wife of Henry Reynolds.

Possible counties for search are Washington, Scott, Russell Virginia. I assume Henry died before the 1850 Census, but I haven't found reference to any Henry Reynolds for his time frame and need all the help I can get.

Christine

I am seeking information on the ancestry of a Harriet M. (census records indicate her middle name was Mary) Reynolds who married John S. Burgan/Burgin in Indiana (likely Boone County) on January 31, 1858 and who died on September 23, 1876 and is buried in the Vieley Cemetery near Lizton, Indiana.
Hugh Reynolds, Reuben Reynolds, Levi Reynolds Chuatauqua, NY

Would anyone know the parents/ancestors of Hugh Reynolds (b 1801-1810; d 1848-1850 IN)?
Hugh Reynolds was living in Ripley, Chautauqua Co., NY, at the time of the 1830 & 1840 census. In 1843, he moved to La Porte Co., IN, where he died 1848-1850. Hugh may have followed Abraham A. Reynolds to La Porte Co., IN; Abraham Reynolds moved there in 1836.
I do not know how, or if, Hugh was related to the other Reynolds families living near him in 1830 & 1840. He MAY have been the son of Reuben, and brother of Abraham A. & Jonathan Reynolds who were living near him in 1830. I have found little information about Reuben Reynolds.
Levi Reynolds (1777-1853) was living near Hugh Reynolds at the time of the 1840 census. Might Levi have been an uncle of Hugh Reynolds? There is a fair amount of information available re Levi Reynolds, but I have found nothing linking Levi to Reuben or Hugh Reynolds.
Listed below are census and some other data I have collected for Hugh Reynolds and other Reynolds families who were living near him.
Any help, or hints, re Hugh Reynolds parents would be appreciated.
************
1830 Census, NY, Chautauqua Co., Ripley Twp, Roll 86, pg 440:
Abraham A. O. Oakland, was born in Lorain County, Ohio, June 23, 1823, son of George F. James, a farmer, born in Stockbridge, Mass., and died in Lorain County, OH, in 1863. The mother of our subject was born in Stamford, Conn., and died in James Township in 1864. The parents had six children--three boys and 3 girls. Our subject began life as a farmer; lived in his native State fifteen years, when he removed to Indiana, where he remained until 1852. He was married, in Porter County, Ind., November 12, 1849, to CHARLOTTE REYNOLDS, born in CHAUTAUQUA County, N. Y., daughter of HUGH REYNOLDS, born in the same county. In 1852, our subject came to this State, locating at Fort Des Moines, where he lived for three years. He then came to James Township, this county, where he purchased 200 acres of wild land at $6 per acre. He made improvements on it, and, in 1863, sold it at $10 per acre. He then bought 120 acres---eighty acres at $6 and forty acres at $8 per acre. He has made many substantial improvements on this place, including an orchard, a nice grove and good buildings. He has also dealt in land to some extent, having bought, improved and sold over three hundred acres. He engages in general farming. Mr. and Mrs. James have six children---Carie, William, George, Lysan-der, Anna and Nettie. Our subject has filled many township offices. He is an A., F. & A. M. Ark Lodge, No. 335. In politics, he is a Democrat. In his younger days, Mr. James was very fond of traveling and has been over the greater part of the United States and most of the Territories.
History of Pottawattamie County, IA, by John H. Keatley, O L Baskin & Co.

Biography for MERRITT REYNOLDS (SON OF HUGH REYNOLDS):
MERRITT REYNOLDS. - It is ever a pleasure to chronicle the events in the life of a capable and progressive man, especially is this so when one like the subject of this sketch has demonstrated in a long life of worthy endeavor that the qualities possesed by him are enduring and have been exercised to the advantage of all, while he has continuity of purpose sufficient to hold steadily to one pursuit, and though he has a spirit of active aggression still he had continued in surer channels by a sagacity and conservative policy that have given their sure reward of worldly goods.
Mr. Reynolds was born in CHAUTAUQUA, New York, on March 9, 1836, a farm being his birthplace, and he was one of a family of fifteen. When he was seven years (1843 - gta) of age his parents removed with him to Laporte county, Indiana, where he spent the years until manhood's estate. In this place he secured a good common-school education, utilizing the winters for that purpose, while the summers were spent in vigorous exercise on a farm formerly belonging to his father. At eighteen years of age he engaged himself for wages in the settlement and from that time until he was twenty-five (1861 - gta) he wrought in that capacity, and then bought a farm in Pottawattomie county, Iowa, and began operations as an agriculturist on his own account. He continued there, raising corn and hogs until 1875, then rented his estate and went to California. From that state he came to Lagrande in 1876. The first year was spent in the service of Joseph Palmer, as an engineer, our subject having learned that valuable trade in his younger days. Subsequent to this he rented a farm and tilled it and operated a dairy for five years. Then he sold his property in Iowa and bought a quarter-section, where he now resides, three miles east and one-half mile south from Lagrande. He made some extensive improvements on the farm, as setting out an orchard, erecting buildings, bringing up the cultivation of the land, and he is now possesed of an excellent farm, as good, perhaps, as any in the county of Union. He bought eight acres of land on Gray creek, but in 1884 he sold it.
In 1861 Mr. Reynolds married Miss Mary A., daughter of Daniel M. and Melissa (Files) Wheeler, and to them have been born two children; James E., married to Lulu A. Childers and living in Lagrande: and Henry M., married to Mollie Silk and living in Lagrande. Mrs. Reynolds was born in Wayne county, Illinois, on February 16, 1842. Mr. Reynolds is a member of the Masonic fraternity and also of the Eastern Star, his wife also being identified with the latter order. Mr. Reynolds is an active participant in politics, being allied with the Democratic party and during his life he has always manifested much interest in this realm. Mrs. Reynolds is a member of the Church of Christ, and is a lady who manifests her faith by her works, showing a life of uprightness and sound principles. Mr. Reynolds is esteemed in the community in which he resides, and has ever shown a manly bearing, works of faithfulness and dealings in honesty, the result being that he is firmly established in the confidence of his fellows and is counted one of the most substantial citizens of the county.
REF: History Of Union And Wallowa Counties, Oregon Historical Society Library, Portland, Oregon, R 979.16, Pages 425-426

Reynolds of Waterbury

I have been looking for the father of Rufus Reynolds, lived in Boardman Ohio, and Lake Mills Wisconsin. his middle initial is R. I have thought it to stood for Richard? Anyways I researched families in the 2 mentioned above areas, and found that 99% of he families with Connecticut roots in those 2 towns came from Litchfield. So I have been ruling out Reynolds, by Reynolds as the father. I thought of the possibility of Richard Thomas Reynolds who lived in Waterbury, had no sons in 1800, but it's possible my Rufus was born months after that census? Richard's or Thomas as he is know, his wife is Jemima Foot/e. So being that I have my DNA done, I looked up Foote in the Database for a match all though some markers are missing, it is a pretty good match for a Foote Family of Connecticut. Any help in linking this together better would be appreciated, Thank You

REYNOLDS---BISHOP MARRIAGE, 1770, Somerset England

This is a real shot in the dark but I am looking for evidence that such a marriage took place between a Reynolds daughter and a Bishop. Reynolds is a very common second name in my Pierce family line; I have ruled it out as a surname for all other lines but the Bishop line. My ancestor, Susan Bishop, was born in Crewskern Somerset England in 1773, and I am wondering if her mother was originally a Reynolds.

So my question is, does anyone have a Bishop in their Reynolds family tree?

Looking for a Thomas Reynolds, married a Susan (possibly) Murphy, were said to have come to Baraboo, WI from New York. Can not find anything on them but sure that their families came from Ireland. Both Thomas and Susan lived and died in Baraboo for some time, he was an engineer with the railroad that had a station in Baraboo. They had four daughters and a son (Larry or Lawrence), Grace one of the daughters was my grandmother, her other three sisters Venita, Mary and Edna apparently did not marry. If any of this sounds familiar, I would appreciate contact.

Seek grandparents of Wiley R Reynolds (b. 1822, Essex Co, NY; d 1908, Jackson Co, MI). Described in lengthy biography in "History of Michigan" as a "captain of industry."

Parents were Isaac & Sarah Reynolds of Essex Co, NY. Both were born in 1794.

My problem is that there was a 2nd Isaac Reynolds b. ca 1810.

One of these 2 Isaacs was definitely a son of Abraham Reynolds (b. 1761) & wife Amy (b. 1773). The other was probably a 1st cousin.

Looking for unknown man - Reynolds

Hi,
I am looking for one of my great-great-great grandfathers. To my knowledge he never married the mother of my great-great grandma Berta (Bertie, Birdie) Tabitha Reynolds born 17 Jul 1880 in De Leon, TX. Berta's mother was Sealy (Celia) Susan Collins born 22 Jun 1863 in Harrisburg, TX. Other family historians have come across rumors he was an "outlaw". I know it's a long shot, but I'd like to be able to find his name, or even who some possibilities might be. On a 1910 census, Berta Reynolds Supulver listed her father's birthplace as Louisiana. I do not know how accurate that was, but I figured any additional information could help. Berta was also briefly married to William Boyce Sherman.

Rennolds of Essex Co., VA

I am researching the early Rennolds Family of Essex Co., VA.from 1700 forward. I have family lines that start with James Rennolds Jr., son of James Sr. and Sarah (LNU). James Sr. was married a second time to Susannah Lightfoot. I am interested in James Jr. from the first of Sr.'s marriages. Surnames such as Taliaferro, Sale, Miller, Lafon, Owen, Dishman, Gatewood, Spindle, Halbert, Chapman and Rouzie (Rowzee)are relevant.

Also, if you reply, please do not use the Tillman book as a reference because it is extremely innaccurate with this old Rennolds line. Nothing against Tillman, but more info in his book is in error than correct.

Wills and witness lists are much more relevant for this early line.

I am a serious researcher and info from all is welcome. I want to put all the leaves on this family tree.

I will also share this info with anyone interested.

Contact me at: MLBrookins@aol.com

I am searching for the family of three soldiers who were killed in the Korea War. These soldiers had the surname REYNOLDS and their remains were never recovered

Soldier: WILLIAM LEEFORD REYNOLDS
He gave his Home of Record as Wyandotte County, KS
Born: 1931
Date of loss: November 30, 1950 POW
RA17261523
Med Co 24th Inf Rgt, 25th Inf Division

Soldier: WINFRED LEE REYNOLDS
He gave his Home of Record as GUILFORD COUNTY, NC
Born: 1930
Date of loss: April 26, 1951
RA14229046
Med Co 32nd Inf Rgt, 7th INf Division

Soldier: THEODORE ALLEN REYNOLDS
He gave his Home of Record as Oneida County, NY
Born: 1931
Date of loss: November 2, 1950 POW
RA12118964
B Co 2nd Chemical Mortar Btn, 8th Army

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
obit for George Reynolds, born 1858 Minnesota, died 1916 Kansas

Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, Nov. 9, 1916, page 3:
Reynolds
George Reynolds was born March 4, 1858 near Winona, Minn. and died at his home in Fountain township, Ottawa County, Kansas November 3, 1916 aged 58 years, 7 months and 29 days. When a young man 19 years of age he with his parents came to Kansas and settled in Ottawa county. He was married to Maggie Reichard in 1891. To them were born four children, three sons and one daughter, all of whom are living, Lee, Norman, Mary and Leonard. He became a member of the Presbyterian church upon a confession of his faith Dec. 4, 1912 and until failing health prevented was a frequent attendant at Sunday school and the church services. He was very industrious and frugal in his habits and these characteristics were rewarded. He leaves to his family abundance of this world's goods. He was a worthy example of what a young man may do if he embraces his opportunities, a loving husband, kind father, a good neighbor and embodied the highest type of Christian Citizenship. He leaves a wife, four children and one brother to mourn his loss. His funeral was held in the Presbyterian church in Delphos, Nov. 4th at 2:30 p. m. and was conducted by G. S. Smith assisted by the pastor of the Methodist church of Ada. Burial was made in the Delphos cemetery with the burial rites of the I.O.O.F. of which he was a member.

Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, Nov. 16, 1916, page 3:
Court House News --- Nov. 8: A proof of the will of Geo. Reynolds, deceased, was filed by J.L. Reynolds and Margaret Jane Reynolds, executors. (also) Nov. 10: An inventory of the real estate and personal property of Geo. Reynolds, was filed by J.L. Reynolds and Margaret Jane Reynolds.

Joseph Reynolds / Lucy Ann Trisler...again...

I have yet to make the connection that Lucy and Joseph are in fact the parents of Amanda, John, and William. They are on the 1850 census but, the name you would assign to Lucy is "Suey" b. 1925. At one time I thought that this was the a mistake. However, I recently found a separate entry for Lucy A Trisler in Jessamine County with her 1918 birth in the 1850 census. Could there be a second Lucy A. Trisler?

And where did Joseph come from? Who is "suey"? Further, where did Joseph go between 1840 and 1850?

I thought the Reynolds part of my research would be easy. I knew more info on the Reynolds family before attempting genealogy. Too many questions continue to cause pause. Do any family members have any records to back up discrepancies? A marriage document would be great!

John Reynolds is my great, great grandfather. I have done well in tracing his path. I would like to know with certainty about Joseph and Lucy. I'll be glad to share any info I have. Can anybody help?
