Thomas Ridge of Waynesville, Ohio

The 1850 Warren County, Ohio census has Thomas Ridge as the head of a family in Waynesville. He is listed as 50 years old with a birthplace of Pennsylvania.

I know that Mahlon Ridge and his sons George and Simpson moved from Bucks County PA to the Waynesville area in about 1817. However, I have no knowledge of Thomas and would appreciate any information about his background. I would like to connect Thomas with the Bucks County PA Ridge family if possible.

RIDGE, William m BLAKER, Fanny; 1835 SSX, ENG

Has anyone come across this marriage at All Saints, Lewes, Sussex 3/10/1835 ?

Was William RIDGE a complete waster, intent on frittering his wife's inheritance? He is referred to in his father-in-law John BLAKER's will as Gentleman of Islington, Middlesex so he had some status. BUT...

John also makes so many provisos about his daughter Fanny's inheritance (and her children's if she dies etc), that something unusual is going on. There are no other such clauses relating to his other legatees - indeed he does not even mention his 2 eldest married daughters.

A family tree compiled in 1894 indicates that there were children, but that Fanny and William were dead (reasonable, as they would have been in their 80's by then) but with no dates unlike other entries on the tree.

Any one help? Long shot I know but at least the question goes into the archives.
Thank you

Frances J. Ridge m. Nathan K. Acre/Acree

My gr.gr.gr. grandfather was Nathan K. Acre/Acree (also spelled Aker in the 1830's). I know that he was a tin-smith and claimed to be born in VA around 1808(census records). I believe his father to be John Aker who settled in Pulaski County, KY. However, I have no proof. If anyone has ANY info on Nathan, it would be so greatly appreciated. I hit this wall 2 years ago and have yet to be able to get over it. I'm hoping that someone out there can help. Like I said, I know that Nathan was born in VA around 1808 and removed to Pulaski County, KY around 1830, married Frances J. Ridge in Pulaski, removed to Adair County, KY in the late 1830's and settled in Green County, KY in the 1840's. However, I have yet to find a connection to his parents or what became of him. Thanks!!

Samuel Ridge, b. abt. 1815 in PA; d. FEB 1879 in Philadelphia, PA. abt 1819 in PA, died MAY 1884 in Philadelphia, PA. The married in PA abt. 1836 and both are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery. They had at least 7 children (Hutchinson, Amanda, Rachael, Mercy Ann, Harriett, Elizabeth and William) one of whom (Mercy) is the ancestor of my son-in-law. I find data on many Stackhouse and Ridge families in the Philadelphia-Bucks County area, but am brick-walled at the link to parents of both Samuel Stackhouse and Sarah Ridge in order to follow them back to their immigrant ancestors. If anyone else has the needed information, or access to it, I will appreciate an assist.

My husband is a descendent of the Mississippi Ridge's - I know that Benjamin Harvey was his great-grandfather - making me believe that he is also descendent from the Godfry which came over from England in abt 1730. I think I saw on these boards where the name of the ship was mentioned. Would someone verify that.
Another issue that I am confused about is all of the Thomas's - and which one I should list as our lineage??? Between the Godfrey's and Thomas's I am totally confused!
Thanks - Shirley Ridge
POW/MIA, Korean War, RIDGE

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Hamilton County, Tennessee as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: BILLY JACK RIDGE
Born: June 13, 1932, Caucasian
Date of loss: December 12, 1950, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Ridge family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
This is where I have found some of my Bullard/Buller ancestors.

I believe Hulda was married to a Bullar/Bullard who is related to my Bullards. From there he and family moved and grew... through Indiana, then Missouri.

I'm trying to get earlier than John Ridge...
...stories include..being bound out, orphaned...

mindbend.com/~baumbach web site is certainly new information for me... will keep digging through that and trying to digest the information there...

Any other work with Ridges, in NC and born in immediate years after 1800 is of great interest.

gene

This is what I have and I need help.

My name is Barbara Ridge Yates. My father was Floyd Ridge, born in 1902. Son of Stephan A. Ridge, born 1872. Stephan was married to Dora Burchett born in 1874. Floyd's brother's and sister's were Dalton, Sylvester (Dot), Noea, RB (Beezer), RD (Dude), Verna Ridge Holman, Dela Ridge White. Stephan's brother's and sister's were Daniel, Martin, Thomas (Tol), Ed, Joe, Mary (had 1 son nicknamed shorty), and Louise. Stephan's father was Enoch (ER) Ridge, born 1858. Married to Eliza Ann Sidwell on Feb. 20, 1875. Enoch's father was JR (possibly Ainklin Ridge I don't know). JR was 64 in 1880. I don't know who he was married to or who his parents and siblings were. This is all going back to Overton Co., TN and the Carolina area. This is where I am stuck. I also have information leading from Major Ridge up to where I am stuck. Major Ridge was married to Suzanna (Wickett). They had chidren: Nancy, John, Walter (Walty) Sarah (or Sally). Major's son John married Sarah (Bird-Northrop)(not his sister). They had children: Clarinda, John Rollin (yellowbird), Susan (Washburn), Flara M. (Dr. Poson), Eneas (married Maria Saunders), Andrew Jackson Ridge, and Herman. Eneas had a child (Eneas JR) and maybe others, I'm not sure. I would like to know where these lines come together from both sides. I believe the connection is at JR. Who is JR and who are Enoch's siblings and is JR Ainklin Ridge? Any information can help. You can rspond to this by posting or e-mailing me at BlueEagle66@aol.com.

Thank you very much

Barbara Ridge Yates

Billy, my name is Dale Ridge. I am the second son of Lowell Ridge, Fred's second son. Adron is the first son of Lowell Ridge. Did we call you Carl when you were younger. Carl came and spent the summer with us when we live in Perry county. I remember two sisters about the same age. I think you had some older siblings but I don't know their names. Dad is 77 and will be 78 this year. A few years ago he spent a lot of time working on the family history but I don't think he can remember it now. I have some of what he wrote down and will look for more. We will write to your address and send the information we have. If you have any old family photo's showing your family with you mother and father please send them. I will look for some old photo's and send to you.

Jane Keeney,

Sarah Northrup Ridge is an ancestor of mine, and through her son and husband John, I would have Cherokee blood. Sarah was a white woman. My Northrop lineage starts with my
mother, Henrietta Northrop Dimler to my grandfather, John Northrop. Incidentally, Sarah's father's name was also John. I have not yet been able to find a way from him to Major Ridge. Could you help me?

robkaykrohne@aol.com

Thanks.

Kathryn Krohne
