The unit of (---- -----?) to lay off and set apart to Elizabeth Ridgway her dower (------?) a tract of land containing three hundred acres was this day returned by Montfort H. Fletcher, deputy sheriff of Rutherford County, duly executed and ordered to be registered.

On motion it is ordered by the court, that Solomon Beasley, Esq. William Smith, Ambrose House, Abram Herring and Nathaniel Underwood be and they are hereby appointed commissioners to divide into eleven shares, and to allot to each of the following heirs, and descendants and heirs of the heirs of James Ridgway deceased, their several shares and portions of the tract of land containing three hundred acres on which the said James Ridgway lately lived in his lifetime in Rutherford County, butted and bounded as follows, to wit, beginning at a stake in the south boundary line of James (Bass’?) twelve hundred acre tract at Thomas (Bass’?) south west corner, thence west one hundred and sixty poles to a stake on Colonel James Armstrong’s west boundary line; thence North with his line three hundred poles to a stake, the said James (Bass’?) north west corner; thence East with his line one hundred and sixty poles to a cedar and dogwood the said Thomas (Bass’?) north west corner, thence south three hundred poles to the beginning, the same having been conveyed to said James Ridgway by deed from Benjamin (G. Hi, I read your post that Mahala Ridgway married Thomas Johnson, I had researched that she had married my great-grandfather Thomas Robbins in 1856 and had died around 1890's and he remarried, in 1900. Also that she had several children. I will do my reseach again, but I think I might be right, but I may be wrong!

Death of Mr. Charles Daniel Ridgway in Chile

I am great-granddaughter of John Almus RIDGWAY -- eldest child of William Alexander RIDGWAY -- and have worked many years on our family.

Our ancestor and mother of John Almus and Samantha Ann (and others, totaling 15) was Evangeline Killebrew "Angeline" KENNEDY. She was never in Arkansas, having died suddenly in Pemiscot County (the "Bootheel"), Missouri.

At the time they migrated, Samantha was already married to George COFFEY.

My father's sister Cleora Helen {KING} ROBERTSON of Baxter County, Arkansas recorded WAR's narrative from about 1906 at her great-grandfather's home in Buford.

Samantha had two brothers in Texas: James Lorenzo RIDGWAY and Leander Calvin "Hoss" RIDGWAY. Son of James L. was Thomas Henry RIDGWAY, an attorney in San Antonio, Texas, and it was at his urging that WAR wrote his memories from about age nine -- when he had seen Davy CROCKETT in Tennessee. Davy CROCKETT had a hunting site near WAR's uncle Richard "Dick" RIDGWAY. WAR never mentioned traveling to San Antonio in his narrative.

I have rather good records on all of WAR's children and have some pictures of Samantha and her daughters. My grandmother (her niece) called her "Aunt Mant." I do know that locals called her "Sam." Perhaps you could help with COFFEY information, as not sure mine is correct.

There are relatives and/ or descendants of Nancy LaFOURE / LaFOURCHE and Richard RIDGWAY there also. The name was "anglisized" to FORESEE.

My G-G Grandfather was Isaac Fox Allman, I have an old family photo of a lovely lady that has "Mary Ridgeway" written on the back. I believe she was related to my G-G grandfather Allman. In your book is there a David Ridgeway born 9/19/1801 Greene Co. Tn.?? He died in Limestone Co.AL.8/26/1877 married Jane maybe Rachel Alexander or Holden. Have his father listed as Jonathan Ridgeway mother as Elizabeth Menefee.Would like to know if this is really his parents.And who Jonathan's parents were.Thanks in advance for any help.

Michel married Joel Spencer 16 Jun 1832 in Harrison Co Ohio, and later married Morris West 04 Oct 1846. Looking for Emma Ridgway. She gave birth to George Foulkes Ridgway 8/6/1890 in the Officer Quarters of Hyde Road Barracks Manchester. She then gave George to Jim and Elizabeth Barnes to bring up as their own and emigrated to Canada with her family. Joe Ridgway came over to England in WW1 with the Canadian Air Force! to look up George. Unfortunately George was away with the Lancashire Fusilliers and didn't get to meet him. I hope someone can help me to find Emma.

I am seeking siblings and descendants of the parents James Lorenzo and Sarah G. Burnett Ridgeway (Ridgway). I've found a lot about the brothers Grover Cleveland Ridgeway, Thomas Henry Ridgeway and Robert Lee Ridgeway that I would be happy to share. However on William Harvey "Willie" Ridgeway, Walter F. Ridgeway and Nora Ridgeway Anderson, I have little. Norah was married to George Anderson and had three children: Gladys that died at 9 years in San Antonio and is buried there, Eveline born about 1905 in Texas, and Harold born around 1907 in Texas.
Willie Ridgeway married an Elsie May Unknown and had at least one child, William A. Ridgeway born around 1919. Walter F. Married an Minerva Unknown and had at least one child, Douglas M. Ridgeway born around 1916, also in Texas.
The spellings Ridgway and Ridgeway were used interchangably by this family. Thank you.

You have an entry of my eldest brother Andrew Stuart Ridgway who passed away in October,1989. My mothes maiden name was Edith Gertrude Harris Bartle Stone and she was born on the 15th September, 1932. Gordon Ridgway (no middle name) born 3rd November, 1928. The photo you have of my family is just before we left the UK in 1966. This is just a start to help you develop your information. Please let me know who you are regarding my family. Family Tree of Ridgway Pottery Makers in England

My husband's family have collected this pottery for many years but I find no direct connection to his family - VA Samuel, SC John, SC John, AL Elijah B., AL Albert, etc.
Research that I have done shows the first factory in England in 1802 well after Samuel came to US in 1700's.
Is there any source that shows the family line in these pottery businesses?

Josiah Obtained land grant of 380 acres, N-236, 23 /sept 1766. It adjoined the land grant to his uncle,II John, which ws at the village of Ridgeway in present-day Berkeley co, W Va

Your grandfather's parents were James Dolliver Ridgway b 1859 d 1946 and Allie Moon d 1932 daughter of Asbury and ___ Moon. They had 11 children and your Grandfather was listed as Willie. b Aug 16, 1897 There was a post note that said their name was usually spelled Ridgaway. and they resided in Preston Co, W Va. A private letter announces the death of J. E. Ridgway at Columbia, Missouri, on October 8, of tuberculosis. His last days were spent with his old friends, relatives and children. He was 59 years of age. His home was the well known farm two and one half miles west of Rush Springs.

I am the 5th greatgrandaughter of Josiah Ridgway and Sarah Lott.
Their son Lott Ridgway married Rachel Brown.
Their son Lott Ridgway married Catherine Frazier.
Lott and Catherine had a son Lott Ridgway who married Rebecca Weaver.
Their son, Charles Noah Ridgway married Caroline Jane Bowman.
son Harry Adolphus Ridgway married Dona Marcilla Shaffer.

I would appreciate any information you have on these lines. I need birth, death, marriage dates.

There is info. in the book Ridgways USA, by Gertrude Brick Thurman Ridgway, about this family and the family of Lott Ridgway. Matilda Jane's husband, Waitman Davis, was the son of Waitman Davis and Anna Thompson. Matilda's parents were Noah Ridgway and Jane Horton (daughter of Elihue Horton). Noah's parents were Lott Ridgway and Catherine Frazier(daughter of John Frazier and Jane Bell). Lott's parents were Josiah Ridgway and Rachel Brown (daughter of Richard Brown and Mary Slade). Josiah's parents were Josiah Ridgway and Sarah (unknown). Josiah's parents were Richard Ridgway and Elizabeth Chamberlain, who came to America on the Jacob and Mary in 1679, landing on the NJ side of the Delaware River. Josiah and Sarah's son Lott was my ancestor. The book has info. about all the other children of these families, too.
