Riley family of Staffordshire, England

Hi All,
I'm hoping to get in contact with any Riley reserchers with connections to Staffordshire England, more specifically from the Lichfield area. I have a William Riley, c. 23 May 1813 at St Michael's, Lichfield. He had siblings christened at St Chad's as well. Parents were Thomas Riley and Margaret Hewitt. William married Elizabeth Allen, possibly in 1842 in Brimingham and they had one child (c. 20 Aug 1848, St Michael's, Lichfield) before William died, sometime before the 1851 census.

Would love to hear from anyone with possible connections to any Riley's in Staffordshire!

Sincerely,
Caroline Allen
mcallen@mcallen.myrf.net
Along with many contributors, I have amassed over 100 megabytes of information at the site. The information consists of photographs, files, gedcoms, stories, documents, and more. All is free for the asking. You may contribute if you like as well, as I am trying to establish the site as a "clearinghouse" so to speak, of Rileyana. For an invitation, e-mail me, David S. Riley, as ds_riley@hotmail.com. Please include RILEY in the subject line, so your message will not go in the trash can.

Anne or Mary Ann Riley / Reilly / O'Reilly

I am looking for the family of Anne Reilly, b. Oct 1865 in Ballyconnell, Kildalan Parish, Co Cavan, Ire. She was also know as Mary Anna, nieces and nephews from New York called her Nanna. Her fathers name was Francis Reilly/O'Reilly and mother, Catherine Bannon. She younger brothers Francis, Charles and Owen.

Anne married a man named Patrick, also a Reilly, probably born circa 1865. I think he was also born in Ireland, but I am not sure. They lived in Hoboken, NJ. around 1890-1910. I have seen some records indicating an arrival at Ellis island in 1883 and 1888, not sure. I have a picture of "Mary's Hoboken Reillys" from a New York wedding in the 1930s.

Mary (Anne) lived in Hoboken. I've heard that many times from family.

Their childrens names, probably but not necessarily in order, are Patrick, possibly Patrick Joseph c. 1887, Charles c. 1890, Anna, Mary, John, Agnes, Eugene, Francis and Margaret, as late as c.1906.

I know of Anne's brothers and their families. I can not find any concrete records of Anne's children. All assistance is appreciated.
I am looking for any information that would connect George Riley born in NC abt. 1803 and died in Surry County, NC between 1860 and 1870. He had 3 sons Eldridge (1832 -1885), Stephen (1835 - ?) and Judson (1844- 1865). Possibly had other older sons. The family lived in Davidson, Montgomery, and Surry Counties, NC. Eldridge moved from Yadkin County, NC in 1879 and settled in Marshall County, Kentucky. He was a veteran of the civil war serving in NC Troops 54th Company H. Any information which would connect this family to others in the area would be greatly appreciated.

My father was Wayne Riley Sr. from Pennsylvania and was a sax player for Tommy Dorsey in the 40's. His brother was Benjamin Riley, a WW2 navy captain. Both served. Dad was 22 on June 6 1944 and went up the beaches. He said that he knew he wouldn't get killed because it was his birthday. He told me that my grandfather George was the first born in America. George was a WW1 cavalry vet. That's about as far back as I can ask anybody now. I was born in 1961 and would like to find out more if any of you Irishmen are related to me. Selantia. (P.S. we don't need to borrow money, we just want to know if you're out there)

Northern Kentucky Rileys burial sites?

I'm looking for leads of relatively unknown burial sites of any of the Riley clan who settled in what is now Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties of Kentucky. I have docuemented the Rileys buried in Independence, KY., Cemetery and working on Highland Cemetery and Linden Grove, in Covington. However, I'm told there is a Riley Family burial site on the "old Riley farm." Can anyone help me locate that and any other sites in N. Kentucky.

Thanks,
Rod Warren

Riley Genealogical Library ...Free! To all Riley researchers

Those interested in Riley History should make it a point to ask for an invitation to
the “Riley Genealogical Library” site at MyFamily.com. It’s very easy to do, just e-mail me, David S. Riley, at rileyds AT gmail.com. As of this date, 08-02-2006, fellow Riley researchers and myself have compiled over 150 megabytes of information at the site.
Why should you visit?
First, you have nothing to lose but your time. The site is free, nothing to buy. Second, you just might find that missing link to your family history, or make a hole in that brick wall you’ve been butting up against. I make no promises, but there have been success stories relating to relatives finding each other as well as exploring their mutual history.
Third, the site has many photos, diaries, bibles, wills, deeds, and historical data as they relate to Rileys worldwide, not to just one family. If nothing else you can go grab a graphic of a Riley Coat-Of-Arms, or read about famous Rileys in history. You may even be related to one!
So drop on in, you’re just an e-mail away from an invitation to the most comprehensive Riley site at MyFamily.com. That’s why you’re in this forum, right? Make your search a little more interesting and maybe even fun!
For an Invite, simply email me, David S. Riley @ rileyds AT gmail.com, and include RILEY in the subject line. Don’t forget to add your first and last name in the message. See you there!
My father is dying, and with him, probably the last of our heritage. He and I are trying to trace his heritage back to the very beginning, but we're just up through the Civil War.

It looks like the surnames have branched off into Thompson, King, Glover, Riley.

In memory of my Grandma, Madge Louise Glover Riley, who died in 1970.

Joseph Riley m. Louisa Jane Milton on 11 Nov 1866 in Greene Co IL. On the USA censuses, he showed he was born in Canada.
He was deceased by 1900 as his widow was living with their dght's family in Morgan Co IL. On that census it shows that Joseph Riley was born in Canada and was French; also it shows his parents were born in Canada. Should I be concentrating on a birth record for him in the eastern area of Canada such as Quebec?

Any suggestions will be truly appreciated.

Regards, Bettye

Paul Yates Riley, b.Jul 1893, sister Grace, b.Oct 1888, ch. of Francis/Josie of Kenton Co., KY

I have an two original Cabinet Card photographs of “Paul Yates Riley” and “Grace Riley”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photos each were taken in Covington (Kenton Co.) KY, and Paul looks about 4 months old, while Grace in her photo looks about 6 months old

I found the children with their parents in the Kenton Co., KY censuses of 1900 and 1920. In 1900, Paul was age 5 (Jul 1893), Grace was 11 (Oct 1888), sister Ruth was 13, and parents were Francis M., 66 and Josie L. was 38. In 1920, Paul Y. Riley is listed in Covington’s census, age 26, son of Josie Riley, 58, and living with them were Ruth, 33; Grace M., 31; and Josie’s father, John W. Yates, age 87.

Ancestry’s FamiilyTree shows Paul Y. Riley’s parents as Francis M. Riley and Louisa Josephine Yates. Please email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Paul Y. or Grace M. Riley.
If someone has access to a site that would give the Death date of Henry Riley/Reilly. It would much be appreciated.
He died After Dec.(13)1947.(He's mentioned in brothers obit) but before 1952. In Dec.1947, when living, he'd be 76 years old. Residence was Wingdale,New York. Dutchess County.Town is part of the Town of Dover Plains. He was a resident/patient of Hudson Valley Psychiatric Hospital in Wingdale. My grandmother said he died there and was "as sane as you or I, except he did alot of hollaring when he talked" There's quite an amusing family story on how he got committed. He's one of seven siblings who emmigrated, of a family of 18 in Ireland. He was my GrtGrdfather's brother. After Henry,I have two remaining of the seven to research for burial sight etc. Thanks to all for any help you can forward. D.D.

I am looking for information on Edmund Riley born about 1836 in Alabama. He is the son of William and Sarah Riley and the family can be found on the 1850 Census living in Wayne County MS. However, William and Sarah moved (back) to Dale County, AL and show up there on the 1860 Census with only three of their 8 children still living in the household.

Edmund would be about 24 and may be married and in his own household?

I'd appreciate any information on Edmund Riley anyone here may have.
I am still searching for my great, great grandfather. His name was Joseph Riley, I was told he was French, but my sister says he was "black Irish", but I do know that he was born in Canada according to census records. He was born between 1828 and 1833. He married a woman named Louisa Jane Milton in 1866, she was born in 1851 Illinois, her mother was from Tennessee and was probably a cherokee indian. Joseph's children were named Antonette, Robert Jesse, charles, and Harriett. Antonette married Frank Gulsby or Goolsby. Harriett married Thomas Early. Robert Jesse married Annie Holland Shepley. I cannot find Joseph's parents and being from Canada or Ireland, I cannot afford to pay for any records. If the names sound familiar, please email me directly at covey@montanasky.com. Thanks!

John Riley's mother was Sarilda (maiden name not known), and his father was W.H. Cartwright. Wondering if anyone out there knows the connection between the names Riley and Cartwright. Thanks.
