3/6/2008 - Frank Anthony Rizzo, 86, of Fredonia, NY and recently residing in Haymarket, Va., died Sunday morning (March 2, 2008) at Prince William Hospital, Manassas, Va.

He was born on Nov. 26. 1921 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Leonard Rizzo and the late Frances (Chiro) Rizzo.
He was the widower of Rose (Gaeta) Rizzo, having been married for 56 years. Mr. Rizzo was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. He was a World War II combat veteran of the United States Navy and the recipient of a Purple Heart and other military awards for his service. Mr. Rizzo received a Bachelor of Arts in 1949 and Master’s of Education in 1950, both from the University of Buffalo.

A retired educator and school administrator for the City of Niagara Falls School District, Mr. Rizzo was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Dunkirk. He enjoyed current events, playing cards and collecting stamps and coins.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary (Armand) Virtuoso of Henderson, Nev.,
and Michele (John) Pasquantino of Haymarket, Va.;
one son, Russell Rizzo of Eden;
one grandson, Armand Virtuoso III;
three brothers, Leonard (Jean) Rizzo of St. Paul, Minn., Joseph Rizzo of Florida
and John (Sandra) Rizzo of Dunkirk;
two sisters, Josephine Ippolito of Westfield,
Margaret Marriott of Pearland, Texas;
one brother-in-law, Charles Gaeta of Indianapolis, Ind.;
one sister-in-law, Lucille Rizzo of Fredonia;
and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Rizzo
and Salvatore Rizzo;
and two sisters, Stella Ippolito
and Antoinette

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
