Hello

I am Mari-Louise Roche, Daughter of Francis Patrick Roche, born Mitchelstown, Co Cork, Grandfather, Michael Roche and we think Great grandfather was William "Edwin/Ned" Roche (he was married to Catherine Fogarty).

Some of our relatives emmigrated to the US, east coast. Looking for the American relatives.

My married name is Guernsey and we live currently in San Diego. My immediate Family still lives in Co.Cork. Ireland.

If we can help anyone, we will :-) (but the Roches breed like rabbits and there are tons of them in Cork!)

Hi Marie,
LOL...we must be the same family then, as my Roche family bred like rabbits here too LOL.
My gggrandfather was John Roch, he had a brother James, and his mothers name was Margaret Roche.
They came to the east coast first, not positive where, and moved west to Randolph Co., Illinois. There they first settled on Kaskaskia Island , around 1830, then moved away from the Mississipi inland a bit, around Chester Ill.
John was born in Cork around 1813...sound familiar ? I do have some more info on the Kaskaskia church records if needed.
My e-mail is clcady@earthlink.net

Hi Mari-Louise, I am also a Roche whose family is from cork, it is hard to find information on line as I live in the UK and need to go to Cork to do research, which is not so easy for me but I will give you all the information I have then you can see if we are from the same clan. My great grandparents were James Roche and Elizabeth I don't have her maiden name of Gillahue Cottages Cork, and Michael Dorgan and Alice(maiden name McCarthy), of Shaw's Alley Cork. My Grand Parents were John Roche, and Norah(maiden name Dorgan), They were married at St Finbarrs Church, Dunbar Street, Cork City,on the 18/09/1907, and there witnesses were Thomas Fitzpatrick of Nicholas Church Lane, Cork City and Kate Mahony of Shaw's Alley Cork City. John and Norah went on to have 5 children Elizabeth born 27 Dec 1906, Michael born 26 Dec 1908, James born 5 July 1910, John (my father) born 10 March 1912 Annie born 14 March 1914, there is also a Jerry Roche but we think he was adopted. If any of this rings any bells then please let me know or if your family in Cork could help I would be very grateful.
Kind Regards John. you can also contact me direct my email is john@timms6.freeserve.co.uk
