Howdy family... just letting everyone in on a little secret, there is a gentleman in Germany by the name Hans Rohmer, who has an excellent website devoted to our surname. My particular branch of this family started off in Canada, ( my father being Ronald Rohmer, of Hamden, CT., and my uncle being Richard Rohmer, of Ontario Canada.) From what I have been able to piece together (Hans...correct me if I am wrong), is that all Rohmer/Romer {s} came from the area known regionally as the Alsace-Lorraine. As history shows, this particular area has been fought over by France and Germany since before written records. Both the French (Rohmaire/Rohmeire) and the German (Rohmer/Romer) are of nearly identical lineage and geographic birth. Our name comes from the Alsace, so I like to say that in the end... I am Alsation. As are you. Regardless, everyone please look up Hans' website at http://www.nefkom.net/hans.rohmer to have many of your questions answered. Plus I can't wait for the book Hans, gonna need a signed copy... please have the cover bear our family coat of arms... If memory serves it is a red shield, with two gold roses in the top left and right corners, a medium sized double handled gold chalice in the center of the shield, and a fluer-de-lis, centered at the bottom of the shield. If any-one knows of a different coat of arms...please let me know.

Sincerely, Kurt Yaroslav Rohmer
