Roms from Slovenia

I am looking for Rom family members from Doblice, a small village in Crnomelj Parish. Some names are Josef Rom and Mary Vogrin, whose children settled in Houghton County in Michigan in the early 1900's. But I am interested in all Roms from Doblice. Thanks for your attention.

My father Ferdinand Vogrin born in 1879 and his wife Maria Wilma Kardos born in 1888 came to America separately before World War I, my father first to New York then to Chicago, Ill, and three years later my mother with her six year old child Anna. They were Slovaks although my father leaned more towards a German background. My fathere served three years in the Army under France Joseph. My family tree is shaping up, but I could use some help. Don Vogrin

Roms of Pinczow

I'm researching the surname Rom. The Rom I am beginning with, Marion Rom (Maryan?), came from Pinczow near Warsaw in Poland. We think the name Rom was shortened from a lengthier, more Polish sounding surname, but this is all I have to go on right now. My Marion Rom was born in Pinczow in 1887 and came to America in 1914 and settled in Chicago, Illinois, as a furniture reupholsterer, working first for John Colby & Sons and then owning his own furniture upholstery business. He went on to have one daughter with his first wife (Rybicka), who continued her life in Downers Grove. I am, again, quite sure that Rom was a shortened version of his name but cannot find the name on any ships' manifests. Thank you for any further information you can give me.
