Dr Horace Roman, Civil War Surgeon

"Horace Roman" is just the silliest name to search. The first thousand results are "Horace, a Roman Poet"

However, I am searching for data on Dr Horace Roman (H.H.) born in 1830 in Belleville, Illinois. Apparently his father was named William and was from Kentucky. His brother was Richard.

Dr Roman was a surgeon in the Civil War.
He married Deborah Butler, granddaughter of Samuel Butler through Elizabeth Ogle Butler. His brother Richard married Isabella Ogle, another granddaughter of Samuel Ogle through his son Joseph.

after the war apparently Horace and Deborah moved to Sangamon County, where he died about 1870.

Louisa seems to be a prevalent name in the Roman family

I am very interested in any information abou this family and their Roman ancestors.

Generations of females in my family are named after Louisa, "Cousin Louie" the daughter of Horace and Deborah. I have a tintype of Louisa with her mother

Her last name at the time of her death, I am told, was ROMAN. I do not know her husbands first name or when she died.
Aunt Ruth was born in Iowa in 1898. She married a Woods(first name unknown) probably ca 1916/1917, and had one daughter whose name was Reola(sp?). I am told that Reola was born 15 May 1917 and died 10 June 1986 in Kansas City.
I would very much like to find my Aunt Ruth, so if there is anyone out there who knows of her, please contact me.
Thanks
Kathy Hughes
memere2six@aol.com

Roman Family Information

I am seeking information on a Roman family living on Sumpter Ave, Bronx, New york in the mid-50s to early 60s. I was a young boy known as "Luicito" living with an uncle Juan Roman and a lady named "Juana." He later married a lady from Panama named Rosario Escobar. There were other Romans living at the apartment complex, but all I remember is uncle Arturo "Tuto" and his wife and daughter. I believe the daughter was known as "Nury or Nuri." I lost contact with them in the mid-60s.
If any of this sounds familiar, let me know.

I'm looking for family of Demeter Roman who immigrated to the USA from Suceava. I believe he was born 1876. On one census he is listed as Hungarian and on the 1920 census he is listed as German from Romania. So...does anybody have a clue where I go from here and are there any living relatives out there somewhere?

I am trying to search for an uncle named Albert Roman or possibly Cooper.
Albert's father was my maternal Grandfather Albert Cooper and young Albert would have been born somewhere between 1914 and 1920. His Mother was from Liverpool (christian name unknown) and she handed him over to be looked after by Albert Cooper's mother in Manchester as a toddler. Albert Cooper was already married to my grandmother who although she knew about young Albert wanted nothing to do with his upbringing.
I have only just found out about all this from my mother who is now in her eighties and is the last surviving child of Albert Cooper.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Dr. Horace ROMAN m Deborah BUTLER in Illinois 1862

Dr Horace ROMAN married Deborah Ellen BUTLER in Belleville Illinois in 1862. They had three children judging by the family picture I have. Their daughter Louise was their only child to live to adulthood. My grandmother, Mother, and daughter have the middle name Louise after her. Today my new granddaughter is about to be born and will be given the same middle name after Louise. She was my grandmother's favorite cousin and her son was my mother's favorite. Needless to say I would love more data.

Conceivably the 1864 marriage of Deborah's cousin, Isabella OGLE to Richard Roman, also in Belleville Illinois indicates Horace and Richard were brothers.

Deborah was a widow living in Chicago in the 1880 cnesus.

Louise married Kenneth HARRIS, a writer, and lived in an Arts and Crafts house in Pasadena CA. Their son, Tomford Barnum Harris, was a gifted pianist.

Our new baby is the sole female who can carry on the direct maternal lineage from Deborah Wollaston Ogle, Deborah Butlers grandmother. The new baby is tenth generation from Deborah Wollastons grandmother. The name Louise has come to represent this line and the great love and accomplishment of the women.
Any aspect or item for this family would be valued by us!
Lynn

Help my find Sal ROMAN

Hi, I am trying again to find a man named Salvatore Roman. Sal may have been his middle name. He was born around 1927, give or take a few years. He met my grandmother, Romayne KUPCHA in Rome, NY or near Newark, NJ sometime in 1945 or 1946. He was in the military, although I do not know what branch. This is all the information I have on him. My grandmother became pregnant with his child and gave birth to my father, James Abbot, on November 20, 1946. She never told Sal that she was pregnant. I am trying to research my family history and this is a huge missing piece. If anyone knows him or his family and has any informaiton, I would be eternally grateful. Or if anyone has any search tips for me, for instance is there a way I can check with the US Military for more info?

Thank you.
Jennifer

I am looking for a man named Salvatore Roman. He would have been my biological grandfather. My grandmother has never spoke of the name of my father's father until now. She stated that she was living on New St in Newark, NJ when they met. Her name was Romayne Abbott at the time. She met a man who was in the military named Salvatore Roman and she said that he lived in Rome, NY. She was born in 1927 and stated that he was somewhere around her same age. She became pregnant in 1946 and gave birth to a son on 11/20/46. She said that Salvatore Roman never knew that she was pregnant. If anyone knows of this person or any relatives, I would love to speak with them. I started researching my family history last year and this is the one big piece of the puzzle that is missing and I'd love to get more information on.

I am researching the family of Gregorio and Francisco Roman. There are three possible localities of origin: Durango, MX, Nuevo Leon, Mx or Coahuilia, MX. They are brothers and apparently immigrated to Texas at the same time (possibly around 1922). They became established in the Pearsall, Frio Texas area and then later Cotulla, LaSalle, Texas. Gregorio was married to Vincenta Segovia and Fransciso was married to Leonarda Salas(z). I would be interested in any possibilites for these two ancestors.

I live in the USA and recently found out that I have living cousins living in Wolverhampton, Lanis, and W. York, England. My family originally came from Austria. When leaving Austria, some relatives settled in Europe (I recently learned) and the rest went to the USA (Ellis Island). In USA, they settled in Troy, New York. My Grandmother, Mary Mycio (from Austria) married Anthony Susko. Mary had two brothers. One lived in England and one lived in the USA. How do I search for my relatives that live in England. We are Ukrainian.

Roman Family from Yauco, Puerto Rico

My earliest ancestor was a Sgt.Miguel Roman married to Sebastiana de Rivera. They lived in Arecibo, PR c. 1708. His g-g-grandson Cayetano (1751-1846) migrated to Yauco. He married Maria de los Santos in 1778. They settled in Sierra Alta, a rural 'barrio' of Yauco. His descendants live mostly in Guayanilla, a town adjacent to Yauco. If anyone else is researching, let me know.
Cayetano had a son Sebastian. Sebastian's son was also named Cayetano who married Maria Senqui or Zenqui (1819), daughter of an Italian immigrant, Santiago ZANCHI (pronounced Zan-key in Italian, hence the phonetic change to Spanish ZENQUI). These Zenqui were from Livorno, Tuscany. Their son was Jose Dolores Roman Senqui, married to Ceferina Sepulveda. This last couple was my great-grandparents.

Mary A. J. Romanowski / Romanofsky

Hi! I am looking for information on Mary A. Romanowski, born the September 15, 1926 in New York. I even have a picture of a girl about 7 or 8 years old.
I believe she is the daughter of my grandfather John A. Warner (his last known name). My grandfather arrived in NY on October 3, 1910 accompanied by Chaskel (34) and Regina (28) Konik -their realtionship is unknown. All I know is that my grandfather arrived with the name Josef Romanowski, then changed it to Arthur Joseph Roman, and later to John A. Warner. I have several addresses for him in NY, Denver, CA, and finally in Colombia.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
