Hardy ROYALLS (ca. 1829 Laurens Co, GA - aft. 1892), m. 1856 in Chattahoochee Co, GA, to Evie SCOGGIN

“The good Democrats of Chattahoochee are rejoicing over the return to the Democratic fold of a very prominent and popular citizen, Mr. Hardy ROYALLS. It is stated that Mr. ROYALLS had been induced to give his influence to the Third party in the conviction that the best interests of the people could be secured through that medium. When he became satisfied of his erroneous impression, and that only through the Democratic party could the South hope to obtain relief and protection, he announced his intention of standing by the grand old party. A gentleman from Cusseta informs the Enquirer-Sun that the Democratic neighbors of Mr. ROYALLS, who hold him in the highest esteem, are delighted at the knowledge that he will be with them shoulder to shoulder in the next campaign. He has always been an earnest and zealous Democrat.”

[Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, 07 SEP 1892, p. 2.]

This is apparently Hardy RYALS (ca. 1829 Lauren Co, GA – aft. 1880), son of Travis & Sarah (JACKSON) ROYAL, who m. 07 APR 1856 in Chattahoochee Co, GA, to Ellenia Victoria C. “Evie” SCOGGIN. He appears on a tax roll for Georgia Militia District #678 in Chattahoochee Co. in 1857, and was enumerated on the 1860 census of GMD #1153 of that county. He is named on an 1864 roster of the Chandler Lodge #155 (Masons), and in June 1864 enlisted as a Private (over age) in Company B, 6th Regiment, Georgia Militia, Phillip's Brigade, Georgia State Troops – evidently a Home Guard unit. He also appears on the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Chattahoochee Co., residing in the Big Sandy District. He worked as a miller. I have not yet located death or burial information for him or his wife – they are the parents of at least seven children.
Mrs. Anne Royal of Washington D.C. ~ Ducking Stool

One of the latest, and certainly the most notorious sentences to ducking was that of Mrs. Anne Royal, of Washington, D.C., almost in our own day.
This extraordinary woman had lived through an eventful career in love and adventure; she had been stolen by the Indians when a child, and kept by them fifteen years; then she was married to Captain Royall, and taught to read and write. She traveled much, and wrote several vituperatively amusing books. She settled down upon Washington society as editor of a newspaper called the "Washington Paul Pry"' and of another, the " Huntress"; and she soon terrorized the place. (more on website)

I am not related to this family, just passing on this information, which comes from a webpage called "WebRoots Library U.S. Miscellaneous" The link for the site is listed below.
Joyce

http://www.webroots.org/library/usamisc/cpobdae1.html
Please help if you know of any records of Joseph Royal and wife Nancy Hayes. I believe their children were: John Edward, Peter, William, James, Mary & Malissa. I have found Joseph in the 1830 Grainger County, TN census, and the correct number of children. That is as far as I am, but am earnestly searching for any records that will show the names of their children. If anyone has the Goodspeed records for Tn that might list them, I would be grateful to hear if Joseph Royal is listed. Maybe tax records? Thanks to all who may take the time to help me. In appreciation, Eva

Anne (Alderson) Royal, born abt 1900, wife of Donovan Royal, lived in Calhoun Co., MI

I have two original studio photographs of “Anne (Alderson) Royal”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photos were taken in 11922 and 1923, in Battle Creek (Calhoun Co.) MI, and she looks to be in her early 20s in each photo. One is an 8 x 10 photo, dated 1922, and says: “’cause I love you”, while the other is an individual photo showing her in “Nurse’s Training, class of 1923”. On one photo is written “deceased 1970”.

I found Anne R. Royal in the 1930 census for Calhoun Co., MI, in Athens Village. She was age 30, born IL, wife of Donovan E. Royal, also 30. She was married at age 24, and they had three children.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Anne Alderson Royal.

Royal/Royael Brooklyn/NYC

I have traced my Royal/Royael ancestors here in NYC from about the birth of my John Royael b. 1815, d. 1900 Brooklyn (my gg grandfather). The last descendant I have been able to trace is to a William Royael b. 7/12/1898, d. 1977 in Brooklyn. He was the nephew of my great grandmother, Lydia Royael Brohme. He married Alice McGee, who died in 1982 also in Brooklyn. They were married in 1931 and so I have no census that would be helpful in determining whether they had any children. I wonder if anyone out there connects to this family, who were born, lived and died in Brooklyn, NY.

I have tons of information on the family but my quest is to find living descendants in the hope of finding some memorabilia of my great grandmother, i.e. photos, etc.

Thanks

ROYAL, LOUISE V. January 22, 1919 - March 12,2003 Born in Carrolton, Illinois, Louise graduated from a small teacher ' s college and spent many satisfying years teaching young children. Her most gratifying experiences came in the service to others, remaining active in Baptist ministries and PEO. With her late husband Donald, she traveled throughout the United States. During her travels she continued to engage the hobbies she adored; reading, needlepoint and crocheting. Family was everything to Louise; not surprising her happiest moments were spent with her husband of fifty six years, her three children, Drew, Lynn and Don and their spouses; her six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her family will miss her deeply. Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 1:00p.m. at the Salli Lynn Chapel; Greenwood Memorial Park 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego.
Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 3/16/2003. Simms and Virginia Jeffersonia Sterling. She died on her birthday in 1937 in Lee County. I should be able to get a 1900, 1920 and 1930 census for Aunt Emily, but I don't know the husband's name. Does anyone recognize this family? Corine

I am searching for descendents of the Royal family. My grandmother was Mary Jane Royal. Her father was William Richard Royal, and his father was Samuel Clifton Royal. I have extensive research on this family that dates back to 1734. I would be glad to help with your research. Please email me with your questions or other information.

I haven't noticed any messages lately, but I have noticed in the past quite a few people that have researched Thomas Royal (March 27, 1754 - August 12, 1834). I am a descendant (5th gr. grandaughter) of his from the Hannah Cooper marriage (Charles Royal). I was wondering if anyone has any photos whatsoever of anyone in this entire line that they may be able to share via email with me... I have not seen any pictures from this family and would just love to have that visual. Thanks, Marcie

Billie Royal Swall

Albuquerque Journal - April 23, 2003

Billie Royal Swall, a resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, died on Sunday, April 13, 2003. She was born in Philipsburg, MT, on November 20, 1916 to William Watt Royal and Anna Christina Ley Royal. After attending Drummond High School, she went on to Montana Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and graduated with an RN in 1938. She and Jack Ralph Swall were married in 1940 in Great Falls, MT. Before divorcing, they had two children, Heather who died in 1993 and Judith. Billie is survived by two granddaughters and their husbands, Sara Christine Vogel and Sean Vogel and Katherine Royal Webb and Mathew Webb; her triplet great-granddaughters, Hannah Rose, Layna Royal, and Anica Taylor Webb survive her, too. Since they were born on April 17, 2003, they did not get to meet their great-grandmother. Also surviving are her sisters, Dorothy Royal Betts and Helen Royal Kanan, both of Albuquerque and two nephews, William Royal Betts and John Owen Betts. Billie was a nurse for several Albuquerque doctors including Wilkinson, Simms and Floyd and Burris and Cornish. Billie will be remembered by all who knew her as a very strong woman who survived many losses and illnesses. She recalled taking a train by herself to Missoula when she was only 17 to have an appendectomy. She was a aring person and a good friend to many. A member of Central Methodist Church for over 40 years, her Memorial Service will be held there at 3:00 oclock p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2003 In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Enlace or to a program which assists homeless families.
John Royal and Susan Wyatt Family from NC

I am searching for information on my family.

My grandfather was Herman Otto Royal (1914 McGrady, NC to 2000 Fayetteville, WV). Son of Nathan (B. assumed after others had same name, including his relative) Royal (1885 Vannoy NC and 1964 Fayetteville, WV) and Dora "Lottie" Perry.

Nathan's parents (born 1842) were John Royal and Susan Wyatt.

I found an 1850 census of Ashe County, NC that had John Royal living with Alfred and Nancy Saunders. I don't know if these were his grandparents though.

Does anyone have any information on this family line? I would certainly appreciate it. You can email me at: synthia_robinson_pack@hotmail.com.

Thank you!!!

Bailey Woodis ROYAL in MAINE

Looking for parents of Bailey ROYAL, and his twin, Woodhouse, or Woodis, ROYAL. Born about 1795. (This is not Bailey Talbot Royal). Bailey is on 1840, 1850 & 1860 census in Maine. He is possibly on the 1830 census in Waldoboro, ME. Their father seems to be Adams Royal, born 1752. There is conflicting evidence about their mother, either Susannah Woodman or Susannah Millet. Would like information and hopefully solid documentation on his birth, his parents names, and/or his children, one of whom is Cyrus, my g-grandfather, born about 1831, presumably in Union, Maine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
