Charles Ruppert

He was born in Gaollheim, Bavaria, September 14, 1829. He came to the United States in 1838, with his grandparents, and to California in 1855, having spent the intervening time in New York. Upon his arrival in this state he commenced mining, which he continued for two years, when he engaged in cooking until 1861. Upon the first call for army volunteers, he enlisted in the first California regiment, and served three years in Arizona and New Mexico. In 1870 he entered the kitchen department of the Plumas House, Quincy, in which he has since been engaged. He is a member of the Masonic blue lodge and chapter, and of the Odd Fellows.

Article in German language newspaper clipping, my translation. "Marriages: On 16 March, by Rev. D. K. Humbert, Edward Ruppert of Longswamp with Katie Meitzler of Macungie, Lehigh Co."

I have dated this to 1895 based on the obituary of Gabriel Griesemer 12/27/1813 - 3/12/1895 which also appears in this newspaper clipping. Note that Longswamp is in Berks County.

Does anyone know if these individuals have any connection to the Haas, Merkel, or Lechner families?

Please, if you can do a lookup for me and help me find some info regarding my gr grfather's voyage to South Africa. My name is Max Ruppert. My gr.grfather, Carl Max Ruppert, emigrated from Germany to South Africa in 1900/01. Presumably with his wife Clara Amalie Ruppert (nee Hölzgen) and young son Carl Franz Ruppert. Thus far I have not been able to get any information regarding their trip to South Africa, or their earlier live in Solingen/Wuppertal in Germany.

I am at present working in the Middle East, and there are no LDS Family History Centers here. Otherwise I would have gone there a long time ago already. Therefor I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

was a trolly conductor, Edna attended
Mission High School graduating in 1906
(ceremony was held elsewhere because the
earthquake had destroyed/damaged the
school), Edna married Ely James Hunter in
1906 and had four sons: Howard Elliott
(my father), James Ely, Stanley Darl, and
Donald (?). All four sons were born in
California before the family moved to Texas.

Jacob Ruppert born 1805 in Westhofen, Hessen and wife Catherine Weinbach born 1808 immigrated in 1841 to Baltimore (where younger brother Joseph Ruppert b. 1817 was residing). Jacob and family moved to Doddridge County, VA/WV where he was a farmer, last enumerated in 1880 census. Children included John, Joseph, Jacob, Amelia, Mary and Catherine. There are still Rupperts in Doddridge Co. WV per internet search.

Funeral services for E C Edward RUPPERT, 77, will be held at 2 PM tomorrow at the home, 3914 Morrison Street northwest.

Mr RUPPERT, a native Washingtonian, for 35 years ran a restaurant in the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue northwest, patronized largely by Congressmen and government officials. He retired in 1917.

Surviving are his wife, Maggie B RUPPERT and one son, E C Ruppert Jr. Mr RUPPERT belonged to the Lebanon Lodge of Masons and attended the German Lutheran Church.

Peter Dominic was my great grandfather and he lived in Sioux City, Iowa in the 1800's early 1900's. My grandfather was Willard A. Ruppert my father was Robert Cloyde Ruppert. Willard had a brother, Cloyde Avetus Ruppert. Robert was born on 8/8/26 died on 11/28/87.

I am looking for any geneology information that can take me back to Europe. I understand that my Rupperts came from either the Alsace/Lorraine area or from Luxembourg. I was also told by my father that we are related to Colonel Jacob Ruppert, owner of the New York Yankees in the early 20th century and I am trying to find verification of this. There was also a Ruppert Brewery in New York that was owned by a family member that I would like to trace.

I have quite a bit of info from Peter Dominic down to my generation that I would be glad to share.

I rescued a small photo from a junk shop in Blair Co., PA of a man, woman and child of about 2. The 3 of them are kneeling at a fresh grave. There is a marker on the next grave but I can't make out what it says.

Written in old-fashioned writing on the back is "Mr. J. V. Ruppert, Mrs. J. V. Ruppert and their son Paul.

Looking for anyone who has information regarding my aunt Marilyn who died suddenly and very unexpectedly in 1958.
She was married to Tom Ryan of NYC, and she left 2 small children, Christopher and Johanna. I have been looking for anything about her for several years now, but nothing yet. Everyone else in the family who would know anything is passed away, so no help there. My uncle Tom did not remarry and died in 1969. I'm beginning a genealogical search for the Ruppert portion of my family. The pont of beginning is my grandfather Jacob Ruppert whom I never met. He lived in southwestern Pennsylvania (Masontown) during the 1920's and then relocated to the midwest, possibly Chicago or Detroit area, where he worked for The Ford Motor Company. I believe that he died in the late 1950's or early 1960's. I have seen records where his name was spelled with one "p", but I believe tht the preferred spelling was with two "p"s.

I have very limited info beyond that as my grandmother and grandfather were seperated after only a year or two of marriage and contact was never maintained with that side of the family. If anyone has any information or believe that they may have been a descendant of Jacob Ruppert please copntact me.

"Desperately Seeking Susanna...Doh! Or is it Catherine"

I am looking for an ancestor who was born in 1775 who ended up in Nova Scotia and marrying John Jacob Hiltz in February 24, 1794 or prior to 1807. She is listed as Susanna
Barkhouse, or Susanna Ruppert. She is also listed as Anna, Catherine, or Barbara for a given name. She is even listed as Anna Barbara ROBAR. Almost everywhere
I look there is conflicting information.

A Nova Scotia HILTZ researcher has her as Catherine Anna Barbara Ruppert and that she was a united empire loyalist. Her grandfather died fighting on the British side
and her father died on board a ship they were being evacuated to Nova Scotia on. She was raised by an aunt in Nova Scotia. I don't know the aunts name but that
may be where the Barkhouse name came from. He has more information, but he seems to be unwilling to hand over the information.

It is important to note that there were no RUPPERT family members in Nova Scotia. This is why I am thinking that she may have been sent away to Nova Scotia to live with an aunt who was a Barkhouse when she was really young. I have had
difficulties coming up with a birth record for her with a 1775 birthdate under any of her names in Nova Scotia. There doesn't seem to be any marriage records prior to her marrying John Jacob Hiltz.

I am wondering if there were ever any loyalists with the surname RUPPERT who may have had BARKHOUSE ties in Nova Scotia or had ties to anyone who may have married into the Barkhouse or Robar family? Were there ships specifically meant to evacuate loyalists to Nova Scotia? Is there a way to find out if she was with her father or was on a later ship that were meant for loyalists?

My hands are kind of tied since I live in San Francisco when it comes to Canadian records. Since I am a full-time student, I have no funds to travel to NS to do this myself.

Am descended from George Ruppert (1838- ca 1890)
and Kathryn Stoeckner (1836-1920) who immigrated in 1867
and settled in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Had 1 son, Anthony,

Anthony moved to Chicago area, and his family
wound up in Niagra County, NY area in th 1920's. All the girls
