It would be very interesting if we could find out more about this person. She would have been born in about 1807.

I am also researching a RUSS family and I am stuck trying to find out who owned my great grandfather. He was Benton Russ, born in Alabama around 1846; married Nancy Curry, also born in Alabama. Their parents however were born in other states-Georgia for Nancy's (Charles and Dilsie Curry).
Anyone have either of these in your family tree line? I can trace Benton back to 1870 in Columbia County Arkansas.

My grandfather (Rudolf Russ) arrived in the US in approximately 1905 - 1906 to meet his mother, Johanna Russ, in the Philadelphia area. They were both originally from Furstenfeld, Austria. Johanna left my grandfather shortly after he arrived in the US and our family has no knowledge of her next location. We believe that she must have had other children. If you have information on Johanna, please respond.

I'm helping a friend get started with some genealogy. Her family is African American from Jackson County (Marianna). Her maternal grandparents are Aubrey Russ (born 1922) and Lille Mae Wynn (born 1920). Her maternal great-grandparents are Mary M. Wynn (born 1884 - possibly never married) and Essie Bell Russ (born 1888). Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. We are running into many roadblocks. There are some old photos showing white people with several black Russ family members. Not sure about the connection. Thanks

Looking on info on my great uncle Walter Louis Russ. Born 1893 in Newman, California. Left Newman around 1915. Married Phronia Riley and had a child. Worked for the Freport Sulfur company. Died April 1975 in Laurel, Mississippi. Lived in Port Sulfur, Louisiana for a time.

Looking any info on Walters life. I would like to connect with his daughter or her children. I heard she was married to an Air Force Colonel who was stationed at Travis AFB, Fairfield, California. After the Colonel died she moved to Boise, Idaho to live near a child.

I am looking for any info on Spencer Russ. I have that he was born 4 March 1831 in CT. He moved to Michigan when he was about 3 and Married Alice Hardy 4 July 1854. He died 12 Aug 1921. I have no information on his mother. The only information I have about his father is that his name is John Russ and that he was born in New York. And I know he had five children, Walter, Della, May, Herbert and Harry. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Robert E. Russ was my greatgrandfather Our family came from England. I have records back to 1458. Robert E. Russ's wife, Mary Elizabeth Randle goes back through Jamestowne.

I am looking for information regarding the Russ family of Newman, California. Lewis Russ (of Germany) was the first known to myself. His brother was Henry Russ. Other names are Ludwig, Katie Goelz, Mary P. Goelz. They ran the "Russ House" hotel, in Newman. Other names include Hoyer, Rice, Naegle.

Russ family of Scranton, PA and New York City, late 19th -- 20th centuries

My great-grandmother Louise Bertha Russ Fukan was born near Stuttgart, Germany in 1871 and immigrated to Scranton, PA in 1885. When she married Charles Fukan there in 1893, her address was given as 618 Alder Street. Recently I found in the Scranton City directories, 1886-1899, a William F. Russ, tailor, whose address throughout the 1890s was also 618 Alder Street. I believe William was Bertha's older brother and she lived with him and his family from her arrival in the US till her 1893 marriage. I am very interested in any information anyone may have on William F. Russ (deceased by 1900 as his wife was listed as a widow on the census that year), his wife Anna, and their children William Richard Russ, Robert Charles Russ, Frieda Russ (I think she married Ludwig Grosstick), Katherine Russ, Lidia Russ and Anna Russ.

William Richard Russ moved to the Bronx, I believe, by 1920 and worked at the New York Herald newspaper. If I recall correctly, his wife was named Martha.

John D. Russ (middle name unknown) was born December 1869 in Missouri, his father was born in TN and his mother in Arkansas. He was listed as 30 years old at the time of the 1900 census and had been married for 8 years. His occupation was farmer. He married Mary E. Cole (I believe she was from Independence or Sharp County, Arkansas, possibly Cave City or surrounding area) abt 1892.

He had two brothers, Robert Russ born 1871 and (Edward) Crawford Russ born 1875. The 1900 census showed Robert as 29 at the time. Crawford Russ was born June 1875 in Missouri and was 24 at the time of the census. He was married, to Leona. (the census was difficult to read, but I believe the name was Leona and that possibly Crawford was a middle name and his first name was Edward) Leona was born August 1875 in Arkansas and was 24 at the time of the census. Both of her parents were born in Arkansas. It listed them as having been married 5 years and had no children as of 1900. He was listed as a farmer.

Mary was born February 1867 in Arkansas. Both of her parents were listed as having been born in Arkansas. She was listed as age 33 at the time of the 1900 census, married 8 years and had given birth to three children still alive at the time. She is buried in Cave City, AR.

They had the following children:

Willie Russ born 2/7/1893 - Independence County Marriage Records Taken from marriage record books in county courthouse in Batesville, AR - G. D. Satterwhite, 24, Willie Russ, 18, were married January 22, 1911
Robert Lee Russ 10/10/1895 – Married Ola Mae Hale in 1919 in Red River County, TX and raised his family in Clarksville, TX. He was a farmer prior to moving to Kilgore, TX. He returned to Cave City after the death of Ola Mae and is buried there.
Nellie M. Russ 11/19/1898 – was buried in Cave City, AR
Earnest Russ 11/17/1904 – Occupation as a barber, otherwise there is very little information regarding Earnest.

I am very interested in the William SLATER, Joshua RUSS connection. They are living next to each other in the 1851 census. Joshua's daughter Sophia married Archelaus PURDY whose uncle Benjamin PURDY is also living next to Joshua in 1851.

Seeking William SLATER's wife Susannah's maiden name. I believe she may be a PURDY or a MALLORY.

If your Russ Family ties into the Russ names that you mentioned and you have that line back to 1489, I would very much like to share info with you. My Russ family is descended thru John Russ b. ca 1612 in England and his wife Margaret. I show John's parents as Thomas Russ (ca 1571)and Thomazin Stanfield(ca 1580) both born in England.

Evelyn C. Sackett Russ, 83
of Fairview Manor, formerly of 1206 West 30th St. and the Saegertown area passed away Friday June 20, 2008. She was born in Meadville March 19, 1925 the daughter of the late Charles and Alberta Watson Sackett, Sr. She had been an assembler at Erie Resistor and later was employed at St. Vincent Hospital retiring in 1988. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, crosswords, reading, sewing and her grandchildren. She was a past president of the Erie Silent Club, the Pa. Society For The Advancement Of The Deaf and the Erie Co. Council For The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing. Evelyn attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Russ, Sr in 1991
and her sister Charlotte Koeppen.
Survivors include her son Robert Russ, Jr. and his wife Bobbi of Guys Mills,
two daughters Sandy Russ of Lake City
and Kathleen Swain and her husband Mark of Jessup, Ga.
Three grandchildren William J. “ B.J.” Russ of Edinboro and Andrew and Garrett Swain of Jessup, Ga. One brother Charles “ Sonney “ Sackett and his wife Margaret of Meadville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Home For Funerals West 38th at Greengarden Blvd. Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Services there Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. David Laakso officiating. Interment in Erie Co. Memorial Park. Memorials to Erie Silent Club 3044 West 26th St. Erie, Pa. 16506
