Rose was my God Mother; she passed away in January 1976 in Phoenix, AZ. I cannot find any information on Charlie and I don't know what Rose's maiden name was? I would love to have a picture of Charlie, Rose and her little pomanarian dog (Jo Jo). Rose had a daughter named Charleen and Marie. They were from New York. I would also like to know where Rose and Charlie are buried? Thank you.

Schrake/Schrage Clinton County Ill

My g-g-grandmother's maiden name was Shrake. I have never found that name in the U.s. other than pertaining to her. In that it was common at that time for g and k to b used interchangeably, it is quite possible these are the same names. Anyone have any info regarding this? (She was born in Hannover Prussia, by the way)

The Department of Defense announced today the death a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Cpl. Dustin H. Schrage, 20, of Brevard, Fla., was found deceased on May 6 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. Cause of death is under investigation. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

My name is Darrell Schrage and grew up in Hurdland Mo. Charles Schrage was my gr grandfather. He had a small farm north of Hurdland (which is still in the Family). Fred Schrage was one of his sons and my Grandfather. he died in 1969. My Father Buster Schrage died in Oct 2000. I do not have a lot of information on the ancestry but anything I do have I would be happy to share.

I am searching for any information for Dora Schrage who married Christian Henry Oberheide in Crete, IL and had six children,
Sophie who married Ray Knipple,
Dora who married Martin Homan,
Clara who married Fred Bloominghagen,
Fred who married Rose ?,
William, who married Martha Barlog,
and Christian Henry, who married Julia Wagner.

Most of the children moved to Chicago area where Christian Henry Oberheide started a coal and oil company.

Maryanne, I hope you're still out there. I just started researching for my sister in-law whos 2GF was Henry Schrage and her G Gr was Friedrick Schrage.I don't have any information other than from there to present as far as her family is concerned. But will share what I have.

George Schrage in Cincinnati

I'm looking for info on George Schrage, who lived in Cincinnati in first half of 20th century and died there about 1952. According to family verbal history, he was born in the Netherlands or possibly Germany about 1874. He had a sister, Anna A. Schrage born about 1875 in Germany. They came to USA in late 1870's. Father's first name is unknown. He died on board ship on the trip over. Mother's name was Mary Slee. I believe she was from the Netherlands but could also be from Germany. I have photos of Slee relatives taken in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but online evidence says Germany. She remarried a man named Speller, possibly Theodore or August, in Cincinnati and they had at least 4 more children prior to 1910. George married Clara Johanning in late 1890's and had 2 children - Marie and Robert. Any info would be much appreciated. Also would like to hear from Spellers connected with this family.

I am in a search for my ancestors roots. I don't know the town they moved to when they immigrated to the United States. I also do not know if all of the Schrage's are related. The Schrage that I am looking for is John Schrage, who married Marie Budhe when they immigrated here. It is also believed that when they immigrated to the united states, they shortened the last name to Schrage, so I really don;t know if it is schrage or what it was when they immigrated to the U.S. Does anyone know?? Did you say you have Schrage ancestors from IL? I'm looking for relatives of three brothers, Charles, Theo and Wil(helm) Schrage from Quincy. I know Will lived in Kansas City in the late 1870's and Charles lived in Hurdland, MO. I believe their father was Henry Frederick Wilhelm Schrage. I have a picture of him with his sons.

Unfortunately, one cannot respond to people directly via these boards, your message was gatewayed to me. I COULD log on to ancestry.com and dig thru a myriad posts, but I do have a life. On the off-chance my email name will not be deleted, you can write me at Xamused with the extension at (use the sign) aol (put a period after it) and then "com"

Okay. That being said: I have only two Schracke/Shrake people about which I have any clue. The first is Gertrude Shracke (also called Katherine in a census) born ca 1816 in Hannover who married my gggrandfather, Frederick (Klei)Baumhueter. They immigrated (according to the original license to emigrate) from Westphalia (then part of Prussia) to the USA between 1835 and 1839 (the license nails the year and the date within three months ... but people often just left with no license, so I'm keeping options open).

The second is Mary Elizabeth Shrake (note surname spelling change) who wrote a letter to "My dear cousins" from "Buffalo" (no state given) in the 1870's. She speaks of their last meeting and it is clear she is speaking to the children of Henry and Gertrude. She also posts a PS to her "Auntie" which tells (in German) of how she loves the pictures sent to her, among other things.

All of this is in original documents (I am fortunate that someone climbed in an attic and gave it to my father who gave it to me).

I have no information that would lead me to Wisconsin for Schrake/Schracke relatives, except that I am aware of the migration pattern of Germans and I discount nothing in what was then the "west" and "midwest". I also know that a later Baumhueter (also spelled Baumheuter here) moved to Wisconsin.

Also, a Christopher Strake (and I have seen my GGGrandmother's surname spelled that way on original documents) developed land in Clinton County Il.

Other than this, I am clueless. Gertrude is one of my many enigmas!

I can not get to that point in Prussia or Germany. The only information I have is Christian had brother Henry who also came to America in 1855, but he lost track of him and lost touch. The other info is the family had a shipbuilding or owned a fleet of ships but the government confiscated them dueing an uprising.
Christian was a tailor when he came to this country. I found a Henry Schrage about the right age in th 1860 New City, NY census. He was a bootmaker.
I would like to compare Schrage's.
They were Lutheran but August Schrage married a Catholic girl and I think his father did not approve. I grew up thinking my gr-grandfather was an only child.

Christian is my immigrant ancestor. He was settled in Ft.Wayne Indiana by 1858. He was born in Prussia. He had only one son and he had 4 daughters. The youngest was my grandmother. Family lore has the Schrage owned a fleet of ships in Germany but they were confiscated by the government (time, don't know). Would like to share information. According to obit in 1911, he left family in old country.

A Edward Schrage was a witness to his sister's wedding, Amelia Bernandina Schrage to John Hageman.
My ancestor is Christian Schrage from Prussia. He was in Ft. Wayne as of 1858. My grandfather, William George was born 17 Jul 1858 in Fort Wayne, IN.

It is great to have another searching for the Schrage's. I have confirmed the Schrages as Homesteaders in Allen County, IN, will be in Fort Wayne in June to accept the certification. I am looking for ancestors born in Lorraine and Quincy (Adams County) Illinois. Then they moved to Knox County, Missouri. My great-grandfather was Charles Schrage. He had two brothers, Will and Theo; their wives were Dorothy and Martha. Will lived in Kansas City, MO.
