I have Civil War Pension file for Thomas Scout , 118th PA Inf., Co. A., enlisted Aug 1862 as Corporal, was discharged near Washington DC, June 1, 1865. I would like to find the connection to the family group that Thomas Scout comes from. Thomas died Nov 4, 1900 in Philadelphia, PA, by infromation from the military files.
In brief, Thomas Scout was last married to Rachel Nicole or Nicols MAHONE, in Nov 1878 in Philadelphia. He had 3 children by his first wife and 1 by his 2nd wife, who appears to be Rachel MAHONE. His 1st wife Elizabeth HOWITZ or HOUTZ died May 1876. The pension application deposition is dated August, 1899. Thomas is 56 years old. The 1st child's name is almost illegible but is 39 years old in 1899. Upon close inspection it does appear that it is Morris Scout, but I could be wrong. There is a son Thomas age 37 in 1899, married daughter, Elizabeth BURGESS, age 32 and daughter Frances Scout, age 19. Thomas appears to be located primarily in Philadelphia and Pension Application states an address as 453 Dunfor St., Philadelphia, PA.
